Lose the Drapery and Put Some Clothes On
Posted by Van Helsing at November 25, 2009 1:39 PM
The look on Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's face is priceless. Via HuffPo:

At least the First Klingon isn't wearing any weightlifter belts for a change. But it would be nice to show a little more respect for foreign dignitaries, whose concept of proper dress might not be as heavily influenced by sleazy Tinseltown galas.
On a tip from mega.

The First Wookie cleans up reals good when the sheep shares are set to a '0' setting.
The only thing that would have made Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's expression more priceless is if he had been wearing black face.
Posted by: Oiao at November 25, 2009 1:57 PM
Poor Mr. Singh, I bet he was thinking about the PR catastrophe at home, M'chelle just can't dress. Her handlers must have forgot a long time ago that a first lady is to be feminine and modest.
Posted by: Jay B at November 25, 2009 2:06 PM
If this woman had any capable aides in the White House they would probably tell her to go back and try again.
It seems every time she and her husband show up an official event he is stepping on his tongue and she abusing the world of fashion.
I could not write speeches for him, but I know what sounds Presidential.
I could not fashionably dress this woman, but I know what looks acceptable.
Posted by: Eneils Bailey at November 25, 2009 2:15 PM
The dress itself is beautiful, I think. I just don't know about strapless. I could never wear one in any circumstance, it's just too much skin. I don't like them on prom dresses, or wedding dresses. You're right, they're for Hollywood galas and that's about it. They remind me how women wrap a bathtowel around themselves after a shower.
chairman zero looks like a utter dork. They both look like they're playing dressup.
Posted by: Karin at November 25, 2009 2:27 PM
The folks over at AOL were all over themselves today, describing the First Lady as nothing short of fabulous. I looked and the very first thing I saw was three people with their shoulders covered and one woman who looked half naked and ready to do a pole dance.
The gown is beautiful. But, it just doesn't seem to fit the occasion...at least not with two elderly folks who are two feet shorter than the American woman and fully clothed!
BO looks fine in his new Tux; his wife not so much. At a cocktail party? OK. But not at a State Dinner with your invited guests fully dressed.
PS: I think the photographer caught the Prime Minister sneaking a peek!

Grace Jones really towers over that little towel head, don't she? Even 0bamboo looks smalll compared to Grace Jones

You linked to the puffpo? I strolled over for a sec, and the comments are absolutely nauseating!
Posted by: Karin at November 25, 2009 2:49 PM
Too much boobage for a state dinner.

Or did someone wake up this morning and think ”hmm, how cynical can I be today?”

Posted by: Dave at November 25, 2009 3:44 PM
In a world where appearance is everything, this is a serious faux pas.
You don't dress like it's Acadamy Awards night...unless your idea of a real high-class time is a Hollywood party. Obviously, BOO does.
REMEMBER: She has TWENTY FIVE staff people devoted ONLY TO HER (at a taxpayer cost of $1.5 million annually...Hillary only had THREE). Even so, you get THIS.
ZERO class, ZERO modesty, MAJOR ego. No, M'chelo, it's NOT all about YOU.
What an embarrassment.
Posted by: Wyatt's Torch at November 25, 2009 3:46 PM
We can't all be obsessed with Prince William going bald, Aqua.
Posted by: Judith M. at November 25, 2009 3:48 PM
Why is Michelle wearing a strapless gown? Because the fashion industry has spent the last year oohing and aahing about her toned arms. Thus, full disclosure of the arms. It's always about the Obamas, never about showing respect for this country or our guests.
Posted by: TrickleUpPolitics at November 25, 2009 3:59 PM
I agree with Aqua, and Dave's response confirms it. When Moonbattery has nothing to say they prove it with threads like this. Whining pettiness reigns supreme around here. Are we really supposed to look to people like you as a political alternative?

"You don't dress like it's Acadamy Awards night...unless your idea of a real high-class time is a Hollywood party. Obviously, BOO does."
You have pretty much summed up the way I feel about the dress. It's ok, but not for a State Dinner.
Seriously, do you think she was trying to impress the hollywood folks and people from the MSM more that represent the USA as the First Lady to foreign dignitaries?
You Betcha, You just don't look right for a State Dinner, Darn it.

I have consistently said Palin is a looker, until she opens her mouth. Never said anything about her clothes other than the RNC platform of "fiscal responsibility" then spending $150,000 at Nieman Marcus.

Their aim is to make America appear the fool, HOWEVER they are failing. They only make themselves fools. Face it libs, you hunt for the most ridiculous to run for president THAT is what you get. Barry and Lurch are idiots and prove it every time they go out in public.

TO THE STUPID LIBERALS:
First, This is NOT a news site, so don't whine when Van comments on a fluff piece.
Second, REAL news agencies do stories on her dresses, so what's your beef?
Third, Are you griping because you think that her attire is appropriate for a state dinner, or just because WE see fit to discuss it?
Forth, Lay off the personal attacks and comment on the subject, IF YOU DARE.

If the HuffPo can cover this non-story, why can't Moonbattery? At least when I read Moonbattery's comments I don't have to worry about barfing on my keyboard.
Posted by: Judith M. at November 25, 2009 8:23 PM
Obummer and the First Klingon always make for good fodder, even when they don't dress like complete jackasses.
And for all you whiny liberal pussy douchebag trolls..... the lamestream media ejaculates over themselves when it comes to the fashion of Patrick Ewing in drag (she could dress completely in Glad bags and we'd hear all day about it) ... we provide a counterpoint. Albeit not "insightful, political analysis", but fun nonetheless.

A couple of aspiring reality-TV stars from Northern Virginia appear to have crashed the White House's state dinner Tuesday night, penetrating layers of security with no invitation to mingle with the likes of Vice President Biden and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

First, it IS a fluff piece. However, APPEARANCES DO MATTER. She is dressed inappropriately for a state dinner.
Second: I absolutely LOVE that "Stevie Wonder" (8:32 pm) likes how she looks. If Ray Charles were alive, he'd get a pass from me also.
Third: MSNBC was ALL A DITHER about how great M'Chelle's style and clothes were...and they ARE supposed to be a news outlet.
So dear trolls, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
2010, baby. You betcha!

Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh is a vegetarian. Since Klingons usually eat their meat raw and highly seasoned, I wonder if Prime Minister Singh was physically ill watching the Klingon grunting and snorting her way through a plate of blood dripping food.

Michelle just reeks.
