Or, does it seem like the Obamas just don't respect the military very much.
Here's PBO responding to a salute by smirking like an empty-headed leftist idiot.
OK, maybe the camera just caught him at an awkward moment (like the time he was staring at that Brazilian girl's mudflaps) and maybe he did respectfully acknowledge the Marine's salute before the picture was taken.
On the other hand, there's this: M'Chel Ob'Ama seems to think the purpose of the military is to hold umbrellas for her and her girlfriends, while she shows up at a Memorial service wearing quilted surgical Scrubs and Starfleet boots.
Condi could pull off the boots because, unlike M'Chel, she had genuine class.

Seen at iowntheworld.com: She has 22 assistants and not one of them can dress her with any sense of fashion, much less appropriate to the occasion fashion...unless they are deliberately making her look like a frumpy clown? No offense intended to REAL working frumpy clowns of course...

Because he didn't serve in the military (or even sign up for the selective service), it is inappropriate for him to salute EVER. If he had served it could be considered optional, but not required. As for Blaquie-O, how exactly do you attire a wookie so it doesn't look like a wookie?

Zero can afford to smirk at the fine young men of the military - after all, he's going to have his own 'citizen force (or what ever the freak he calls it) which will be 'better funded than the military'. What ever happened to THAT empty promise, huh? The bastards lies every time he opens his mouth.
I guess he figures Marines should wear their hats backwards and have baggy pants to show off their underwear to look cool.
As far as the bottom picture; resources have been wasted that way in all administrations. Simply weird tradition, I guess. But I do agree that Misshell's wardrobe is very... outdated Star Trek-ish. And I'm certain part of her allowance from our tax dollars is for a fashion expert to dress her. Damn sure need to fire that person.

On a positive note - I have to say, as a "fashion-challenged" person (I hate dressing up!)... I always found Laura Bush's choices inspiring. Lady-like and totally appropriate to the moment.

I was posting about her smirk, not his. I should have made it more clear. You are right about his, there's no way of telling what is going on in the first photo, and he doesn't seem to be looking at the soldier. In MO's case, however, it is obvious, given the context, that neither her attire, nor her facial expression, is suitable for the occasion, and also does seem to represent her general demeanor.
Is it important? No, not really, but I do think it highlights the contempt she holds for the military, the country, and all of us "little people"- who should being eating cake, instead of noticing the lack of bread.

I know several marines. For a civilian to receive a salute from a marine is a great honor. Obama is not worthy of this or any other honor. The marine would have been within his rights to spit instead.
