Or, does it seem like the Obamas just don't respect the military very much.
Here's PBO responding to a salute by smirking like an empty-headed leftist idiot.

OK, maybe the camera just caught him at an awkward moment (like the time he was staring at that Brazilian girl's mudflaps) and maybe he did respectfully acknowledge the Marine's salute before the picture was taken.
On the other hand, there's this: M'Chel Ob'Ama seems to think the purpose of the military is to hold umbrellas for her and her girlfriends, while she shows up at a Memorial service wearing quilted surgical Scrubs and Starfleet boots.

Condi could pull off the boots because, unlike M'Chel, she had genuine class.
