Harry Reid Panics Like a Little Sissy Girl

Reid%20boycott.jpg

Granny Clampett look-alike Harry Reid (Demonrat-NV) was thrown into a panic, shut down the senate, deployed the Capitol Police, and dispatched HazMat Teams... to deal with a letter from former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop that was critical of the current Health Care Reform Takeover proposal winding its way through America's lower digestive tract... the United States Senate.

Koop wrote Reid a typed letter, tucked inside a hand-written business envelope, that appeared in Reid's office without postage and without going through a security screening process. A Senate postal clerk noticed the envelope and alerted a Reid staffer, who in turn notified Capitol Police about 2 p.m.
A small swarm of officers responded, first shutting down the hallway outside Reid's office and then taking the even rarer step of shutting down the wide Ohio Clock corridor that senators use for press conferences outside the Senate's main entrance. Mindful of the ricin and anthrax attacks in 2001, teams of hazardous materials technicians were called and tested the envelope before opening it and discovering Koop's letter.

Jumpy little twerps, aren't they?

Having Granny instead of WIMPY would be a HUGE improvement in the Senate.

Granny Clampett....A little.
Dude from the "American Gothic" Painting. Fur Shur.

Don't compare me to that pussy! I'd'a just shot the varmint!

Amusing Yardale, here I thought the right was supportive of national security measures.

This is not the first time suspicious letters have shut down government offices. Didn't some people die before 'being suspicious' became a possible matter of survival?

I love how you free associate from the facts.

"A Senate postal clerk noticed the envelope and alerted a Reid staffer, who in turn notified Capitol Police about 2 p.m."

Oh, it wasn't Reid who called the police. Not that it would matter if it was.

As for "jumpy little twerps", that would be the Capitol Police you are talking about. Classy as always.

If you were doing to America what he (and his ilk) is doing and IS trying to do to America you would be jumpy too. Everyone of them should be.

WRONG. Try reading the post again before you spout off. "Jumpy little twerps" are Dingy Harry's office who got scared of an envelope.

Dingy Harry freaked out and shut down the entire wing where his office is, unecessesarily panicking a building full of employees and visitors, and dragged the entire CP dept away from their real duties of checking for Capitol visitors who might actually try to bring a weapon into the building. THEN who in turn brought in a TEAM of hazmat techs.

For an envelope that did not even fit the description of "suspicious mail." (see below)

Correct protocol for suspicious mail* is to calmly lay it down on the nearest surface and leave the room, closing the door behind you. Then wash your hands with soap and warm water, record the names of persons in the office but DO NOT evacuate the building, and call law enforcement - who may send someONE in a hazmat suit to pick up the item.

Overreact much? Hence, the accurate post title "Harry Reid Panics Like a Little Sissy Girl"

*suspicious mail = envelopes or packages that are oily, poorly wrapped or addressed, excessive postage, or have unusual sounds or odors

Let me dissect for a minute:

Amusing Yardale, here I thought the right was supportive of national security measures.
True, I can't won't deny it.

I love how you free associate from the facts.

"A Senate postal clerk noticed the envelope and alerted a Reid staffer, who in turn notified Capitol Police about 2 p.m."

False. Reid's staff works for Reid, is the responsibility of Reid, is an extension of Reid. Utilizing hyper dimensional physics, therefore as an extension of Reid, the staff calling was the same as Reid calling.

As for "jumpy little twerps", that would be the Capitol Police you are talking about.

I have dealt with Cap Hill 5.0 (semi-professionally, not as a crim), they have a tendency to do what the Congress twerps insist upon.

It is believable they overreacted, but it is more believable Reid (or his staff) utilized the soft (implied) power that is a seated Senator and requested the more thorough and less pragmatic approach.

Common sense would have said look at the outside of the envelope and confirm with sender (if Koop's old butt did not ID himself on the envelope I apologize for any untoward denigration of the Great Land Deal Senator from Nevada (pronounced NAYVAYDA in these here parts)). I might have even sent an email too the offices in the building asking if anyone dropped a letter in the box without screening, I would have done this before calling 5.0.

"Hyper dimensional physics"?? Wooo, you got me there.

The Capitol Police obviously thought it was potentially serious enough to warrant the actions they took.

If there is an "over-reaction" that would be Yardale's.

I gotta admit though, Reid DOES look like Granny.

"Amusing." Reminds me of the guy who started his post "Ahh."

"JEEEEEEDDD!!!"

Posted by: KHarn at November 5, 2009 1:38 PM

Wow, it's like I didn't even read the original post. I stubbornly cling to my half-assed criticism of GoY's article even after having it dissected by other posters. Twice. That's how blind my worship of Reid and other high-ranking Democrats is. For me, observing the comparison to Granny is actually a compliment.

If it had been a Republican, I'd have been all over this.

What the hell is wrong with me? Can anyone help me figure out why I am so confused?

Never mind. I should probably just get the hell off this site, as I cannot handle the ridicule.

For V the K a day just isn't complete without a name highjacking, inept as they may be.

Feel better now?

Posted by: Lao at November 5, 2009 2:39 PM

It wasn't me, dumbass.

Some politicians will do anything to get out of reading letters that are critical of their bills.
