Chimp Attack Serves as Pretext to Loot Taxpayers
Posted by Van Helsing at November 5, 2009 11:45 AM
A Connecticut woman mauled and blinded by a chimpanzee is seeking to sue the state for $150 million.
Attorneys for Charla Nash's family filed a notice Wednesday with the state's Office of Claims Commissioner asking for permission to sue the state.
The 200-pound chimpanzee named Travis went berserk in February when his owner, Sandra Herold, asked Nash to help lure him back into her house in Stamford. The animal ripped off Nash's hands, nose, lips and eyelids, and she remains in stable condition at the Cleveland Clinic.
Herold is already getting sued for $50 million. But the taxpayers have deeper pockets, so the state lawsuit should be far more remunerative for the vultures who flap down out of their law offices to feed on every tragedy. How the state of Connecticut is responsible for the behavior of a privately owned monkey is anybody's guess.
On a tip from Wiggins.

Careful! Just mentioning the word 'monkey' in an article like this could be seen by the left as a racist attack on The Won.

This is exactly why the plaintiff should be liable for the entire court costs and the state's defense costs if they lose. This should not cost the state one dime. If people knew they would have to pay when they lose, they would bring these frivolous lawsuits to begin with. Ridiculous!

The Obamunists should step in. They could give this Sewer free health care for life for only $250 million.

I figured it wouldnt take long for the vultures and sharks to start circling they just cant wait to fill their bank acounts

Cass Sunstein claims animals have standing in the courts and can be a plaintiff.
So why isn't contrary true? If they CAN sue, why can't the be a defendant?
What does it matter, lets give them Universal Vet Care.

Send the monkey to the Whitehouse to be a pet for Malia and Sasha. Im sure they tired of that Portuguese Man O War or whatever it is. Barry can teach it to vacuum the place, take out the trash and make sure the girls finish their arugula salads and beer chasers before they go to bed. And if it gets out of line just send it back to Ape Management for retraining.

Just think about this for a minute, if you had been as horribly injured as this woman, you would probably do the exact same thing.
How is it rendered stupid by the fact that a chimp injured her?

BS, only insane people sue the people of an entire state because of what some monkey did to them. Sue the monkeys owner and get what you can your have call Dr. Kervorkian to pay you a visit.
Whats next? What if a regular human criminal rapes or injures you? Can they all sue the State?
Time to put an end BS like this.

Is the monkey registered to vote?

Is the monkey registered to vote?
Sure. Several times, in fact.

Because the state and its taxpayers have nothing to do with the attack. I can't see what the public entity has to do with any of this or why it is named as a defendant. Curious to hear the argument the plaintiff's lawyer is planning to make.

Jay I heard that the ape has a new gig. Talkshow host on Air America.

It is very unfortunate for the injuried woman but freak accidents happen. I wonder how many trial lawyers were waiting for her in the hospital, just so they could tell her how much money could be made! "Hey I can get you 10 mils!" "I can get you 50 mils!" The winner of course was the one claiming to get her 150 mils. Disgusting.

My only question is was the monkey a member of ACORN?

Free Travis! Travis was framed! He's writing a children's book! /liberal
Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 5, 2009 1:26 PM
Bwahahaha! Ted, I heard he was in Witness Protection as a host on Air America. That way no one would be aware of his existence.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 5, 2009 1:29 PM
Travis is indeed in Witness Protection, that story of how the cops shot him was fake. They just used blanks and stage blood. Travis is currently being cared for by Mike Tyson in his basement. To keep Travis in line Mike punches him in his snot box a couple of times and threatens to bit off his ears.

"Jay I heard that the ape has a new gig. Talkshow host on Air America."
At least with Travis I'm sure they would finally get some ratings...
Posted by: Fuzzlenutter at November 5, 2009 1:45 PM
Warren are you sure tyson isn't getting some freaky monkey love as a fringe benefit? :)
Posted by: Farmer Ted at November 5, 2009 1:47 PM
Fuzzlenutter, sorry to hear Travis has sunk so low, but at least that'll raise the aggregate IQ at Air America. (snigger)

Curious to hear the argument the plaintiff's lawyer is planning to make.
The plaintiff plans to argue that the state was negligent because it knew that the Chimp was a danger. They plan to argue that the state failed to enforce a law that prohibits residents from owning primates that weigh more than 50 lbs.

Geez, chimps are probably my favorite animal (And, contrary to what some here have said, they are NOT monkeys, they're apes), but even I know they are NOT good pets, mainly for reasons such as this. An adult chimp is about 4 times as strong as an adult human.

It's okay. Travis was just acting stupidly.
Posted by: Anonymous Countermoonbat at November 5, 2009 3:13 PM
Nah, it was the police who were acting stupidly. They always act stupidly. Everybody knows that.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 5, 2009 3:24 PM
GMTA Adam. My only question is why a private citizen is allowed to "own" a 200-pound chimpanzee in a residential area? That's what zoos and wildlife sanctuaries are for.
Posted by: Nunya at November 5, 2009 3:28 PM
General note: Chimpanzees and other large, exotic animals generally don't make for very good pets.
