California's Petty Tyrants Crack Down on Televisions
Posted by Van Helsing at November 19, 2009 9:59 AM
Even as they drive the state's economy over the edge of an abyss, California's moonbat rulers continue to impose needless, intrusive, and economically harmful decrees. If this one doesn't cause a revolt, nothing will — they're coming after television sets:
California regulators have adopted the first energy-efficiency standards for televisions in the U.S., a move that will eventually ban power-hungry sets from the state's store shelves.
As always, the sheer mass of the Land of Fruits and Nuts allows it to pull the rest of us down with it.
Wednesday's action by the California Energy Commission could lead the way in a general reform of standards for an industry increasingly focused on wide-view, flat-screen, high-definition sets.
The 5-0 vote by the California Energy Commission is just the latest effort by the state to secure its place in the forefront of the environmental movement.
California represents such a big consumer market that environmental groups hope the new standards will lead manufacturers to make energy-saving TVs for the rest of the nation, just as California's stringent fuel standards for cars and trucks forced automakers to produce more efficient models for all of the U.S.
When it comes to vehicles, "more efficient" also means "more expensive" and "more likely to get you killed if you have an accident."
Until California bureauweenies are able to impose their television whims on the entire country, the result of this latest fiat will be more economic hardship for a state that can't take much more.
Some manufacturers warned that the regulations will cripple innovation, limit consumer choice and hurt California stores, because people could simply buy TVs out of state or online. The industry also complained that manufacturers will be forced to make televisions with poorer picture quality and fewer features than those sold elsewhere in the U.S.
"Instead of allowing customers to choose the products they want, the commission has decided to impose arbitrary standards that will hamper innovation and limit consumer choice," said Jason Oxman, a vice president with the Consumer Electronics Association. "It will result in higher prices for consumers, job losses for Californians, and lost tax revenue for the state."
But at least the dictate will benefit man-eating polar bears, according to the bizarre delusions that comprise liberal ideology.
On a tip from Wiggins.

Time to open telivision stores just over the borders.. kind of like when toilets were to be changed.. you could get an illegal one just over the border.
of course, this is only because the US doesnt make telivisions any more. so it will hurt trade and they will retailiate.

But, how will Big Brother communicate his Order of the Day?

It's just the beginning.
Wait until they want to put limits on every form of leisure, recreation or entertainment that uses energy ie; boating, air travel, air shows, NASCAR, sporting events, golf, skiing, theme parks, snowmoblies, carnivals and concerts.....just to name a few.
Think I'm kidding?
You will either end these activities or be forced to compensate poorer nations for choosing to selfishly partake in them...
Case in point:
Saleemul Huq, who was chosen as the lead author of the IPCC 4th assessment report on Adaptation and Sustainable Developement wrote the following words....
"In future, therefore, when affected countries demand assistance from the rich countries of the world in helping address climate-related disasters such as floods, it will not be for a request for charity but for compensation, appealing to their moral responsibility, if not their legal liability, to make good the damage and destruction for which their activities have, directly or indirectly, been partially responsible"

Hopefully, with the supply of TVs choked off by meddling bureaucrats, California consumers will lower their demand for content.
Lower quality TVs lowers the average person's willingness to pay top dollar for content.
Less content sold means less money in the hands of the moonbat-infested entertainment industry.
A conservative boycott would be great, but this may be the next best thing.

Laughable. Liberals will do anything to control people's lives, even when they use suicidal policies. They have to, since by 2010, they'll be scrubbed clean and in 2012, Zero's ass will be scrubbed too. There WILL be riots, since Liberals don't use an election, remember, it's either a "landslide" like Obama's 2% margin or "election fraud" when they lose. Party of extremes.

Election Fraud until they just happen to find enough ballots (only for their candidate of course) to throw the election. It's called being ACORN'ed into office.

TED - "ACORN-HOLED" into office!
Posted by: nancz at November 19, 2009 11:43 AM
ACORN'ed... this should be a new mainstream word.

Its just a ploy by the Ministry of Plenty to create a massive TV buying spree in 2010 to beat the new law. Thats why it doesnt take effect until 2011.

Oceanias forces captured a big screen TV plant yesterday which is why they are trying to move those color TVssssssssssssssssssssss - out the door in 2010 - as Big Daddy has decreed 2010 as the year of the big screen color telescreen.
PS - Dont pay attention to the tiny camera staring back at you, its for your own good.

Did the tyrants think though, that if they take away people's TVs they wont get in nearly so much moonbatty brainwashing? Without the multiculti pushing, sleaze pushing moonbat propaganda being blared into people's homes they might turn to more neutral sources, like talk radio or the internet. Bad move by the tyrants if they want to stay in power.

They keep re electing the mental midgets that think of this crap, so too bad for them but they deserve it. We should kick Cullifornia out of the union and declare war on it.

Unfortunately, I live in Commiefornia: The Land Ruled by Idiots.
"Instead of allowing customers to choose the products they want, the commission has decided to impose arbitrary standards that will hamper innovation and limit consumer choice" ...
.... sounds a whole lot like ... "Instead of allowing patients to choose the health care they want, the commission has decided to impose arbitrary standards that will hamper innovation and limit patient choice".
Do any of these doorknobs even notice the similarity!?
Idiots. Every last one of them.

Isn't plugging in your electric car going to use more electricity than a television?
Idiots!
Posted by: Rightwingmike at November 20, 2009 12:43 AM
It would be a good thing for mankind if television were banned altogether. Quite apart from perpetuating worldwide the American cultural hegemony, with the self-congratulatory idiocy of its lowest-common-denominator "entertainment industry", television is in itself stultifying as a medium, whatever the content it transmits.

How many times does the U.S. need to be smacked down by international trade agreements that they have agreed to?
