Actually, I had the answer to this quiz back in early 2008 when it became apparent that this sucker was going to spoil the Hillary Clinton Democrat coronation.
My twisted logic runs thus:
The Republicans were not going to win the 2008 election, Bush fatigue, the economy, the Iraq War, etc..etc.. Did not matter who amongst the Republican candidates hoisted the banner, they were destined to lose.
What if HRC had pulled off getting the Democrat nomination. I am sure she would have been elected, going back to my premise no Republican could beat either Democrat candidate. Then in office, there is absolutely no way on God's green earth and under the blue skies of outer space would the Clinton's acted as stupidly and pulled so many bone headed moves like Obama. There is a possibility that one year after the 2008 election HRC could have had good polling numbers. And if she could have ducked and avoided the sniper fire, she may have looked good for 2012.
Would two good terms of HRC led to BHO or any other Democrat being elected in 2016?

So here is my final argument:
1. A democrat WAS going to be elected in 2008.
2. HRC could have possibly been elected for two
terms.
3. A successful HRC tenure could have led to
another Democrat being elected in 2016.
( Horrors)
4. Four years of an Obama administration
greatly enhances the possibility that a
Republican can be elected and we can have
relief from this scourge of Obama.
5. HRC will not run in 2012. That's not a
surprise.

So, Obama actually is going to turn out to be the best of the worst for Republican chances in 2012.

What makes you think she wont? The More Obama screws up, the more ground she has to stand on that she should have been nominated in first place. Don't be surprised if she resigns as SOSOTUS in late 2010 especially if a major internaitonal blow up ocurrs. (or if he bows again, whichever comes first)

That was the toughest assumption about this scenario that I had to make.

Obama will not voluntarily resign, so it would have to be a lengthy battle through all the primaries. Within in the Democrat Party primaries, HRC has more to lose than BHO. As with the 2008 primary, she does not get that much black democrat support and far left support, toe to toe with BHO. The really far lefties, the ones with pictures of Mao Zedong and Lenin hanging in their bat caves, love Obama in spite of his current stance on Afghanistan.

The primary would be very divisive for the democrat party and not help either candidate to slug it out on the road. She might be able to give him a good fight, but I don't think she will do it.
Besides, by 2012, she will probably have lost her cheerleader figure and bubbly, friendly personality.
Could happen, but I am picking the most likely scenario in my mind.
