Activist Judges Begin Short March into Judiciary - With RINO Help
Posted by The MaryHunter at November 17, 2009 7:15 PM
It appears to have ended before it really began: a GOP-led filibuster of a leftist activist judge, who is now basically headed for the Chicago-based Court of Appeals. This guy is an extremist:
Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., voted against ending the debate on [U.S. District Judge David] Hamilton. "Judge Hamilton is the definition of an activist judge and is clearly not qualified to sit on a court of appeals," he said in a written statement. "Judge Hamilton, who spent years working with the ACLU and ACORN, has used his position on the bench to drive his personal political agenda."
Aah, memories of that Gang of Fourteen, now long gone:
Beyond the political message, the filibuster effectively ended a bipartisan accord reached in 2005, when 14 senators signed onto a deal that effectively stopped Democratic filibusters of Bush's judicial nominees except in extraordinary circumstances.
Sen. Jeff Sessions R-Ala., who led the opposition to Hamilton, argued that Hamilton's record met his definition of extraordinary circumstances.
Oh, did we mention, this was all done with the help of 10 Republican senators? Those fools who voted to not take a stand for conservative principles included some faithful RINOs but a few surprises: Lamar Alexander (TN), Saxby Chambliss (GA), Susan Collins (ME), John Cornyn (TX), Judd Gregg (NH), Orrin Hatch (UT), Richard Lugar (IN), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Olympia Snowe (ME), and John Thune (SD). Kay Bailey Hutchison (TX) didn't vote.
But wait: the vote to end debate on Hamilton's qualifications was 70-29. The Democrats didn't even need the Republican votes to end the filibuster.
Granted, Hamilton was a shoe-in from the beginning, given that a simple majority puts him on the bench for the "Living Breathing Constitution" team. Still, even if these ten loser Republicant senators vote against Hamilton's confirmation, their good names are befouled. If Republicans can't stand together on matters of bedrock conservative principles (freaking ACLU and ACORN, for heaven's sake!), then what's the point of even having GOP representation in Congress?

This is why conservatives must prevail.

Judge benches full of liberal judges, what a freaking nightmare. Can you imagine how much damage to the country these could do?

Britain had the same problem with their parties, refusing to represent their constituents. So now that people are voting for parties like the BNP and UKIP, the main parties are screaming bloody murder.
Democracy does have it's uses. I just wonder what it will take for Americans to likewise abandon the major parties here.

How is Snowe a surprise?
Actually, none of them should come as a surprise. All of them have one common tie: they all have outstanding requests for pork projects and parochial allocations, and need Democratic cooperation to satisfy special interests and lobbyists in their districts.
Republicans who refuse to rubber stamp moonbattery are at risk of losing their own pet projects, or other miscellaneous Federal services in their district. Republican Congressmen have already reported being threatened in private with the loss of funding, stimulus allocations, and base closures.
There are only a few current Senators who aren't beholden to special interests. Everyone else is for sale at the right price.
Pork and special interests are the number one procedural problem in government today. Even though to total costs are only a few percent of the entire budget, it is impossible to run an honest government when parochial spending is greasing the wheels of bipartisan assent to bipartisan corruption.
Real issues, like activist judges, take a back seat to pork politics when committee chairs threaten to cut off funding.
The Club for Growth publishes a list of votes not for sale, also known as a list of Congressmen who have sworn off pork. If you look at the list, the names you see there are remarkably predictable on key issues - even if you disagree with their positions, these are the people who aren't switching sides in crooked backroom horse trading sessions.

Kay Bailey Hutchison (TX) didn't vote.
Of course she didn't.
KBH has been portraying herself as a staunch conservative in her race for the 2010 Texas gubernatorial nomination. Her opponent is Rick Perry, whose conservative credentials are well known.
Why wouldn't KBH use this opportunity to take a stand against activist judges?
Simple. She is addicted to pork projects. Kay Bailey Hutchison was named Porker of the Month for October 2009.
CAGW sums the problem up nicely:
While claiming to be a fiscal conservative, Sen. Hutchison requested 149 projects worth $1.6 billion for authorization and appropriations bills for fiscal year 2010.
If she took a stand against this activist judge, that would upset her $1.6 billion looting spree.
This hypocritical Beltway insider is trying to gain the Republican nomination for the 2010 Texas gubernatorial race. Texans, if you don't want to see Washington insider KBH be the next Corruptocrat-in-Chief of Texas, head over to the Rick Perry Campaign and see how you can help.

I'm getting off this mid-Pacific rock for 18 days over Thanksgiving. This story reminds me that my first stop on the mainland will be to buy more bullets.
Screw fascist liberals.

You can bet your last dollar that THIS Texan will be voting against her.

Notice that these RINOs are all old.
...Suggesting that they have not caught up to the fact that their subterfuge is posted and preserved on the web.
Its likely that, stupid as they are, they don't realize that where once they could do asinine things, walk away and voters would forget by next football game, now these miserable gut bacteria can be held accountable.
Can be.
Not that they will be.

Me too Rob, in fact I think a majority (or at least a lot) of Americans in fact are fed up with our two major parties, who are basically indistinguishable anymore.
I would LOVE to see a third party like the Libertarians and/or Conservative Party take power, but I also think that will never happen. Folks are too afraid to vote other than Democrat or Republican, thinking that it will only put the opposition major party into office.

Saxby Chambliss was the only surprise on that RINO list to me, since Sarah Palin actually campaigned for him.
Speaking of KBH and RINOs, Dick Cheney endorses RINO KBH over conservative Gov Rick Perry in Texas governor race Dick! NO! Bad Dick! *sigh*

Here is a thought... How bout making a visit to local zoos and tossing something to the rhinos there. a few dead rhinos should warn the rino republicans what's coming around the corner for them. Oh and then toss a dead porker into the rhinos pen. ... Ya,, that should send a message. Just kidding. I really do like rhinos but I detest the Washington RINOs.

Was shocked to see Lindsay Grahamnesty's name NOT on the list. He's in serious hot aqua at home, perhaps he got the message.

Hmm... where are the leftard trolls when we're calling out R's? What's the matter, it doesn't fit into your narrative that we're lockstep party members and Bush worshippers?
Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at November 18, 2009 7:03 AM
Evilwrench I thought it was the right who called the left lockstep party members and Obama worshippers.
The current tremors that signal a possible split between conservatives and moderate Republicans (aka RINO's) will be interesting indeed.
There was a headline on Memeorandum this morning "Palin-Beck ticket? Sarah doesn't rule it out." The article might have been satire, I didn't read it. The headline itself was enough to make me laugh.

Ahh, but that's because there are a LOT of lockstep party members and obama zombies over there. A LOT. Enough to support the stereotype. Not so much with us. Witness NY-23.
