War on Dissent Updates
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at October 19, 2009 4:14 AM
The progressive left continues its war on Rush Limbaugh, FoxNews, and anyone else who questions Dear Reader. The left can't defeat our opinions with facts or reason, so they try to shut us down. They are terrified that people might hear something other than their version of events.
Item Number One: David Frum continues his Andrew Sullivanesque descent into madness. This time proposing, preposterously, that Rush Limbaugh has been faking his conservatism for the past 20 years. Blogger Five Feet of Fury (No, that's not Robert Reich [that would be four-and-a-half-feet of horsecrap]) responds to Frum's proposition.
It is more probable to liberals that a non-toxic gas emitted through cow farts is the cause of "global warming" rather than, say, that giant super mega hot round thing in the sky.
It is more probable to liberals that an anti-communist President was magically murdered throught the sheer power of free-floating right-wing hostility death rays concentrated within the 214 area code, rather than by a Marine sharp shooter turned communist traitor who'd just bought a mail order rifle and worked a few yards from the crime scene.
And it is more probable to liberals that Rush Limbaugh is just pretending to mean what he says.
Even while stoned on oxycontin and waking up profoundly deaf one morning, Limbaugh managed to deliver amazingly convincing yet secretly insincere improvised monologues for three hours a day, five days a week, for the last 22 years, on live radio, fooling an astonishing 20 million people at a time.
Frum also claims that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are sell-outs who would switch sides to the Progressive Left for the right price; which is rich coming from a guy who used to write for National Review before he switched sides in return for a book deal and a well-financed website of his own.
Item Number Two: ESPN host Michael Wilbon says that all African-Americans hate Rush Limbaugh. This may come as something of a surprise to Limbaugh's African-American guest hosts, Clarence Thomas (who performed Rush Limbaugh's wedding ceremony), Juan Williams and the Reverend Keith Hutcherson (who respond here), and Rush Limbaugh's African-American producer (who responds here).
Item Number Three: Even the left-wing New York Times thinks it was a bonehead maneuver for the Obama Administration to go after FoxNews. Does this mean the New York Times is racist, now?
Item Number Four: Socialist rag Newsweek fresh from proclaiming that Obama is god, we're all socialists now, we're all Hindus, too... says that FoxNews is Un-American, which is usually meant as a compliment in left-wing circles. Newsweak also features a gushing, sycophantic cover story on Joe Biden that could have been written by the White House Press office, and probably was.
Item Number Five: Race Hustling entrepreneur Al Sharpton is threatening to sue Rush Limbaugh for bringing to light Sharpton's involvement in Crown Heights riot (he called neighborhood Jews “diamond merchants") and the 1995 Freddie’s Fashion Mart riot. If Sharpton follows through, this could be epic, because under discovery, Rush would get access to all kinds of records Reverend Al probably doesn't want the public ever to see.

Comments
Just curious....
How does David Frum Mars know that Rush is "insincere?" Is he able to get into Rush's head or channel his brain waves or something? And if he's right, wouldn't that mean that Rush is just a left-wing plant and actually friendly to Frum's kind?
(I happen to think that's exactly the story on Michael Savage...if you wanted to tear down the conservative movement from inside and convince everyone that we're crazy, you really couldn't do better than Savage...but never mind.)
Personally, I resent it when people accuse me of lying about my motives. It's tantamount to asserting that someone else knows my own thoughts and feelings better than I do. I always want to say, "Unless you're Counselor Troi from STTNG...shut up."

Does any conservative actually believe David Frum has ever been anything but an opportunistic weasel? Not me!

For number five... god, I am so disgusted about Sharpton, is there a single celebrity that's more blatantly hypocrital, a clear liar and a repulsive morale?

I feel that Rush et al are partially responsible for getting Obama elected. They never rallied the voters. They never threw their support behind a republican candidate, or urged others to vote for a particular person. So, we eventually got stuck with McCain.
Maybe they got sick of defending republicans? Either way, their ratings are now through the roof.

A Rush/sharpton court fight would be awesome. Rush would finally get his little slave that everyone accuses him about. Go Rush.

Yes, that's the thing about the discovery process. It can get mighty uncomfortable, so one needs to be very careful before filing lawsuits.

The O’Garbage Factor
Fox News isn't just bad. It's un-American.
By Jacob Weisberg | NEWSWEEK
Published Oct 17, 2009
"On The O'Reilly Factor, Alan Colmes, the network's weak, battered house liberal..."
Just to support the liberal double standard, if a conservative outlet did this would they not cry "Racism"?

Sharpton hasn't yet paid a court-imposed fine to the police officer for slander in the Tiwana Brawley case, (for which he, Sharpton) was found liable.
And the court has not dared to go after Fat Al to enforce the sentence.
One can only hope that this excrement goes after Rush.

Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at October 19, 2009 8:40 AM
Anyone remember "Barack, the Magic Negro" that was first aired by Rush?
It was hilarious a DEAD ON, but the singing voice was a parody of Al Sharpton singing, get this, through a MEGAPHONE! ROFLMAO!

"god, I am so disgusted about Sharpton, is there a single celebrity that's more blatantly hypocrital, a clear liar and a repulsive morale?"
I'd say Michael Moore qualifies.

Spot on, TED. Such filth in that guy, I get sick in the stomach whenever I see him speaking. I do also feel really sorry for the blacks who think this guy is anywhere close as an actual reverend (how low can you be, calling yourself a man of cloth and still doing this?)
Posted by: Jay B. at October 19, 2009 2:34 PM
Rush's giant microphone is not phallic in anyway. Ribbed for his pleasure?
Posted by: Anonymous at October 19, 2009 3:19 PM
Kudo's to Juan Williams, stickimg up for Rush.
I never really liked the guy but will tune into
Fox when he's on because of his actions.

It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).
Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. So NFL, I salute you decision, job well done. And to the whaling cry baby perched on his self made pedestal, quit your whining it was your own fault. He is reaping what he has sowed, KARMA, "palin and simple" like his followers. Don’t we all feel better?

Barack Obama is Al Sharpton without Sharpton's intellect or class.

Pauline, no one cared about your comment the first time you cut and pasted s why would any care any more the second time you cut and pasted it?
Nice job, though. Highlighting and hitting CTRL+C and then CTRL+V is a lot harder than actually coming up with your own original thoughts.

I've been listening to Rush since 1992.
I've never heard him say anything I would consider racist or prejudiced in any way. His dream is for a color-blind society in which everyone is regarded as a precious, individual human being. Not as a member of some group.
I'm tired of hearing this. I mean, really sick of it. It's nothing but an extension of the worn-out saw that Obama's critics must be racist.
Posted by: Cylar at October 19, 2009 10:45 PM
You sure pegged Pauline, SK...

He's going to wear out his Ctrl key cutting and pasting that tripe all over the Internet. I don't see how it could convince anyone but the choir, though. Most of us, even if we aren't Limbaugh fans, don't think lying about what he said is acceptable.
