WaPo Makes the FAIL Blog
Posted by Van Helsing at October 20, 2009 6:27 AM
The dross churned out by the liberal establishment's propaganda industry has a use, other than propping up Chairman Zero's absurd presidency — it provides raw material for the FAIL Blog, which apparently found this gem Dumpster diving at the Washington Compost:

It isn't easy getting a poll to indicate that half of any population outside of a nuthouse thinks Comrade Obama has earned a prize that couldn't be found in a box of Cracker Jacks.

Reality Check:
Speaking of "dross" Van Helsing, you really do need to do your own due diligence instead of dumpster diving on right wing blogs.
Also, it has not escaped my notice that you like to use weasel phrasing like "apparently found" to give yourself an escape route.
Lame as usual.

Lao, the picture from the FAIL blog was uploaded on 10/15/2009.
If you read the comments on the article, you will note that there WAS a problem with it as evidenced by several people who commented on it. Here is one from 10/9/2009
The bar on your chart says that more approve than don't, but the alphanumerics giv a different picture, something needs fixed.
To SENIORVET, the unemployment rate has actually slowed and has improved in many areas. And, sir, I am also a senior vet, have lived through every war this country has fought since WWII and have Never been so afraid for this country as I was during the Bush years when US diplomacy consisted of threats by Bush and his administration. I think Bush's policies were especially detrimental to our troops, with endless rotations, inadequate equipment and a blatant lack of planning for what to do for the the rest of the war once the first battle, Baghdad, had been won. Obama has only had 7 months to fix 7 years of malfeasance (or to use Bush's own word, "miscalculation") by the previous administration. I for one am pleased to see reason once again applied to our relations with other nations, and a more considered approach to our own problems in this country. I salute your service.

Apparently the Washington Post fixed their screw-up after it became the subject of widespread ridicule. Perhaps its your "reality check" that needs checking.

But if one reads the comments following Lao's link, apparently the graph had been screwed up before it was fixed. Perhaps Failblog screencapped it. We can do that sort of thing, you know.
Posted by: Karin at October 20, 2009 7:42 AM
That's exactly what happened Karin.
Posted by: Judith M. at October 20, 2009 7:43 AM
I don't get it.
Would someone please tell me what's wrong with this graph?
Posted by: Al Gore at October 20, 2009 7:53 AM
Nothing, Al, file it with your hockey stick graph.
Posted by: Judith M. at October 20, 2009 8:01 AM
Where did the WASHINGTON COMPOST takes its poll SAN FRANFREAKHOLE or HOLLYWEIRD?
Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at October 20, 2009 8:29 AM
I see, so the poll posted here was wrong (obviously) and the Washington Post corrected it. Van Hesling chose to post the wrong poll. I posted the correct poll, thanks to making a quick web search and Judith thinks my "reality check" needs checking.
Interesting.
Try this on for some more reality.

It apparently took the WaPo at least six days to correct the chart, Lao. You don't think that should raise an eyebrow?
One of the reasons that blogs like FAIL take screen grabs is to try to organizations like the WaPo from saying "Bad graphic? What bad graphic?" The fact that they finally corrected it just shows the Internet's power to shame is alive and well.

I read the article, Lao, but I don't think it was anything too revolutionary. The Republicans aren't getting their message across coherently? No kidding! That's why I'm not putting all my hopes on the Republican party saving us from the Red Tide. I'm focused on principles, not political parties.
Posted by: Judith M. at October 20, 2009 10:05 AM
Fair enough Judith. So does that mean, come 2010, you make your election choices based on the candidate vs the party?
Posted by: Lao at October 20, 2009 11:19 AM
I love the journalism of today, you can say anything regardless of how insanely incorrect it may be, just be sure to post a retraction no more than 7 days later to re-install your credibility.
Posted by: Travis at October 20, 2009 12:49 PM
I ALWAYS make my decisions based on the candidate rather than the party.
Posted by: Judith M. at October 20, 2009 1:09 PM
I respect that Judith...though I expect some of the more fervent moonbatterers here might label that stance as heretical, particularly if the better man or woman was Democratic.

Although I am a pathetic, mouth breathing, Leftist partisan hack, myself, I feel I have the moral authority to dare to try and call others out on theirs.
Posted by: Lao at October 20, 2009 3:43 PM
Once again, the name highjacker surfaces. It always tickles me when he/she does because it proves that they simply CAN'T provide any kind of intelligent response to what I am saying. Not that I have been particularly threatening or controversial on this thread which demonstrates the paucity of their smarts. What have you got instead? Whining and name calling. Whine on.
Posted by: Lao at October 20, 2009 4:08 PM
Sadly, I can count on my one hand the number of times the better man/woman was a Democrat, but I guarantee you, it is the candidate that best matches my ideology that gets my vote, I have zero party loyalty and will only contribute to candidates, not parties, because I don't want my money to support a leftist, whether that lefty has a D or an R after his or her name.

RE: Posted by: Judith M. at October 20, 2009 5:49 PM
Judith pretty much summed it up, Lao. In my case, I'm an "Independently Registered Constitutional Fundamentalist / Conservative / Libertarian / Roman Catholic", if you want to get down to labels. As such, I vote primarily Republican / Independent, and have (very rarely, and not lately) voted for a Democrat or two.
Contrary to Leftist myth, we don't vote in lockstep 'round here.....we actually discuss ideas here on the Right.
RE: Posted by: "Lao" at October 20, 2009 3:43 PM
Yeah, the "Name Hijacker" is getting on my nerves, too. Once or twice (with the name altered so we know it's parody" it was funny......now it's just tiresome.
Shame of it is, I think there have been one or two trolls that have done it to themseles just to sow confusion and claim victimhood.
EITHER WAY, this "Name Hijacking" nonsense does not reflect well on Moonbattery, nor on those of us that post here regularly.
Whoever is doing this (on either side), please knock it off.

I'm glad to hear you don't vote in lockstep. I'm glad to hear you discuss ideas on the right, because we on the left do too.
We don't often agree TonyD but we do in this case. Have a good night.

Lao, if you considered people as individuals, instead in terms of the stereotypes promulgated by the left-wing, you might not be as often wrong as you are.
Posted by: V the K at October 21, 2009 5:51 AM
Coming from you, V the K, that's quite hilarious. Thanks for the morning chuckle.
Posted by: Lao at October 21, 2009 7:00 AM
If a thoughtful, intelligent leftist ever shows up here -- one who criticizes Democrats as much as I criticize Republicans -- I'll be happy to revise my POV.
