US Missile Technology Headed for China

Posted by Van Helsing at October 16, 2009 7:21 AM

Maybe putting a left-wing community activist with a communist background in charge of our national security wasn't such a good idea after all, even if it did send tingles up the liberal media's legs. Chairman Zero is not just selling our future to the communist Chinese — he may be handing over our missile technology:

President Obama recently shifted authority for approving sales to China of missile and space technology from the White House to the Commerce Department — a move critics say will loosen export controls and potentially benefit Chinese missile development.
The president issued a little-noticed "presidential determination" Sept. 29 that delegated authority for determining whether missile and space exports should be approved for China to Commerce Secretary Gary Locke. …
The presidential notice alters a key provision of the 1999 Defense Authorization Act that required that the president notify Congress whether a transfer of missile and space technology to China would harm the U.S. space-launch industry or help China's missile programs. …
Section 1512 of the 1999 law requires the president to certify to Congress in advance of any missile equipment or technology exports to China that the export will not harm the U.S. space-launch industry and that "missile equipment or technology, including any indirect technical benefit that could be derived from such export, will not measurably improve the missile or space launch capabilities of the People's Republic of China."

Why was this law necessary? Because Bill Clinton was so far in bed with the Chicoms, he probably snores in Chinese. As a result, technology was passed along to them that may be used to vaporize American cities. But laws don't apply to The Anointed One, who rules by fiat while his media enablers look the other way.

Henry Sokolski, director of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center, said restoring Commerce Department control over the sensitive experts is a "step backward."
"It's as though Commerce's mishandling of missile-tech transfers to China in the 1990s never happened," said Mr. Sokolski, a former Pentagon proliferation specialist. "But it did. As a result, we are now facing much more accurate, reliable missiles from China."
Mr. Sokolski said he expects the U.S. government under the new policy to again boost Chinese military modernization through "whatever renewed 'benign' missile technology" is approved.
"It was foolish for us to do this in the 1990s and is even more dangerous for us to do now," he said.

The director of the Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control, Gary Milhollin, isn't happy either:

It is shocking that it would be delegated to the secretary of commerce, whose job it is to promote trade, rather than to the secretary of state or the secretary of defense, who have far more knowledge and responsibility within their organizations for missile technology. … In fact, the delegation turns the present law upside down because Congress passed it after finding that the Commerce Department had improperly helped China import U.S. missile technology in the 1990s.

They needn't worry. Comrade Obama believes in nuclear disarmament — at least for the USA, which liberals inform us is the source of all evil in the world.

We've got another rat infestation.

My only consolation is that Barry will turn into a glowing cinder as D.C. disappears in a bright flash of light.

What's wa-a-a-ay more likely is that with improved targeting the Chinese will now be able to more effectively threaten all sorts of folks (like us).

I see the Japanese changing their consititution any time now to allow nukes. Just watch for it.

and... what could possibly go wrong with helping the Chinese more accurately target our carrier fleets and things, eh??

Oh but the left are the patriots not us. Enabling our enemies is #1 in the patriot definition. Well trolls! Tells us how this helps THIS country!

Proof once again that Obama is an idiot. And where is the MSM outrage? We'll see none, of course, as they all snore Kenyan.

My blood boils every time this guy does anything, as he has yet to do anything right. Anything at all.

'Nuff said.

Yeee Haaa!!!

Go for it batshit crazy Dixie Land!

"The pastor of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina plans to celebrate Halloween by leading his fourteen member congregation by burning Bibles. Pastor Marc Grizzard is not a Satan worshiper or a militant atheist.

Pastor Grizzard says that he is a Christian. However it seems that the Amazing Grace Baptist Church believes that only the King James Version of the Bible is the true word of God and that
all other versions of "perversions" and "Satanic." Along those same principles, Pastor Grizzard intends to burn books written by Christian authors such as Billy Graham and Rick Warren."

Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution reads:

"The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

The key phrase here is "high crimes and misdemeanors," a concept in English Common Law that was well-known to our Founding Fathers but is grossly misunderstood in this day and age.

My question:

When the Chicoms/Norks/AlQaida destroy America, where will all the moonbats go then?

Moonbats have got to be the most self-destructive persons on the planet. It would be sad if it weren't so sick.

Don't worry Batshitceazyville

As long as " In Walmart We Trust" is an integral part of the American dream, the chinese wont kill "the goose that lays the golden egg". Thats something America does, as in outsourcing all its manufacturing jobs.

But don't you have plenty of other stuff to get all a-feard up about and keep the xenophobic paranoia a-going?

Benedict Obama sells the keys to the gate like any liberal scumball

If China doesn't need the ability to wage global nuclear war in the name of the People's Revolution, then there is no need for Obama to sell the technology. Period.

China isn't facing off against an evil empire seeking to destroy it. Hell, China is the evil empire.

There is zero argument here for legitimate self-defense. This move weakens America and puts American lives in danger.

Wonder if he'll be so good to share the nuclear football code to putie when they come to inspect our facilities? He cannot do enough for our sworn enemies.

Objecting to giving missile technology to China makes you paranoid and xenophobic. Now there's a depth of clueless stupidity we can all point and laugh at.

Posted by: Smorfia48 at October 16, 2009 9:14 AM

You're all just a bunch of mouth-breathing right-wingers, too stupid to understand that allowing the Chinese to eventually reach parity with us economically and militarily will finally provide the world with the bulwark it so desperately needs against the evil, evil United States.

OK...I was trying to use faux "sarcasm" HTML tags in that comment, but the system must have interpreted them as *real* HTML tags. Oh, well. Yes, I was being sarcastic.

"Anonymous at October 16, 2009 7:58 AM"

What he means is:
"HEY LOOK! A HUGE DISTRACTING THING! LOOK AT IT! LOOK AT IT!"

Posted by: KHarn at October 16, 2009 11:24 AM

hey Brent, I found that too. Instead use ">" for the greater-than symbol and "<" for the less-than. Most of the time now I just use these "[ ]" for brackets as a number of sites don't allow the HTML special character codes.

I told you so.

Check my back posts.

The ITAR and EAR are being re-written as we speak.

This is what we are trading for China buying up our debt and keeping the dollar from truly tanking where it should be right now.

People think this stuff is no big deal, but are concerned about man-made global warming and polar bears.

O......kay.

LA, Chicago, San Fran, DC and NYC just to name a few cities, would, I think, be the main targets of a missile attack from a foreign country. What's so bad about that?
