Tinseltown Rallies Around Child Rapist

If it were possible to agree with moonbats about anything, it would be that drugging and anally raping children should be frowned upon. But no.

Among the many movie people who have signed a petition supporting Roman Polanski:

Woody Allen
Wes Anderson
Darren Aronofsky
David Lynch
Martin Scorsese

Before you call them soulless degenerates, remember that entertainment glitterati must be judged by separate standards, because they are impelled by artistic motives that cannot be grasped by the unenlightened minds of the rubes in Jesusland.

On a tip from Jay Guevara.

Of course Woody Allen would support Polanski, because he's in the same pedo league as he is.

Don't leap to conclusions that "the left", supports Polanski.

So far as I'm concerned he should be handed the jail sentence he would have received had he not skipped the country.

If a "genius" or anyone else is found guilty of a crime, they do the time, there are no excuses.

Lao, at the DU, it's about 80% in support of Polanski. There are also those who, shall we say, aren't willing to dance on the grave of John Chuey. That would be "judgmental."

Posted by: Karin at October 1, 2009 10:47 AM

DU? Ducks Unlimited??

John Chuey??

Posted by: Lao at October 1, 2009 10:50 AM

Karin, that's because liberals naturally identify with criminals and deviants. Professional courtesy, and all that.

Don't leap to conclusions that "the left", supports Polanski.

I believe the point is that Polanski's supporters are, AFAIK, all on the left. Hollywood, HuffPo, etc. That's not to say every Red supports him, but the converse: all (or virtually all) those who support him are Reds.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at October 1, 2009 11:14 AM

Your point is partly valid but, supporters on HuffPo? Sorry, all the opinion articles I found were anti-Polanski.

Posted by: Lao at October 1, 2009 11:47 AM

Nothing surprising since a few years ago a bunch of these hollyweird suck faces ralleyed behind a convicted murder and support cop killer ABDUL JIMMAL TINSLE TOWN is realy beging to look like SEWER CITY

Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at October 1, 2009 11:52 AM

Have you ever been to Hellyweird? It is sewer city.

I had a look at that petition. They were not supporting Polanski. They were attacking the US for a breach of an alleged tradition. The petitioners claim that when a Polanski is at a cultural event he should be free from worrisome things like extradition.
To quote:"It seems inadmissible that ... a cultural event, paying homage to one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers, is used by the police to apprehend him....

The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance, undermines this tradition: it opens the way for actions of which no-one can know the effects."

There is no reference to the seriousness or otherwise of any crime by anyone so protected by this tradition.

So get it straight. They are not saying it was fine to rape if you are a celebrity. No, definitely not, absolutely not. It is simply a warning that, if celebrities can be extradited at a FILM FESTIVAL, heaven alone knows where it will all end.

Is there anything that is still considered to be indefensibly malignant anymore?

Posted by: forest at October 1, 2009 1:23 PM

So the guy that sleeps with his own step-daughter is defending the guy that slept with a kid? Good job Woody.
I'll betcha that if a Republican had done the exact same thing they would be willing to use "Extreme Rendition" to get him back.

Posted by: Frank W at October 1, 2009 1:24 PM

@forest: religion, duh.

Karin, that's because liberals naturally identify with criminals and deviants. Professional courtesy, and all that.

and Conservatives naturally identify with prescription drug abuse, gay prostitution, and cross-dressing?

Posted by: alexis at October 1, 2009 1:59 PM

Hey, Lao. You should tell alexis and Goatse Wellstoned to stop defending child rape. They're making the rest of you lefties ... ie. you... look bad.

Posted by: V the K at October 1, 2009 3:01 PM

V the K your attempt at logic is flaky.

By that should I assume you support every statement by every right leaning blogger here?

I stand by my own statements. Other people can stand by theirs.

Posted by: Lao at October 1, 2009 3:08 PM

Ah, so, just because almost everybody who supports Polanski is on the left, you don't think we should condemn leftism as a whole by their actions.

However, one lone nutjob shoots up a church, and you use it to smear the entire right-wing, as you've been doing in previous threads.

Posted by: V the K at October 1, 2009 4:14 PM

Today we pay tribute to the nation’s biggest nepotistic, outright thieving, politically comatose, ethically devoid, rape-loving, cousin-kedoodling, inbred, overpaid, under-thought, hump of artistic mediocrity monarchic family that the world has seen since the advent of the conscience… Hollywood!

I can honestly say I miss the times when they were just a heap of drug-addicted and silently tormented scoundrels… At least they were interesting…instead of just a cabal of incestuous pseudo-intellectuals with their faces pulled tight and their testes and tummies tucked to tensions for which a Gucci Bag feels envy…

Ahhh ShowBiz! All the rape, dope, and power you can fit into one meaningless life spent feigning emotions that you don’t really feel… for cash…

Hollywood

If by "smear" the right you mean I suggested they accept some responsibility for inflammatory talk - guilty.

I have already indicated where I stand re Polanski. I think those on the left who are attempting to defend his behavior are completely misguided. As I have already pointed out, many on the left, including blog writers at Huffington and The Nation, feel the way I do.

Of course, V the K, condemning leftism as a whole is what you do daily. Understanding that the left is not a monolithic threatening entity with a carved in stone agenda and point of view, is apparently beyond you.

I won't be around until much later to respond.

Posted by: Lao at October 1, 2009 4:30 PM

Here's a few more from the list:

Penelope Cruz
Michael Mann
Buck Henry

And, supposedly:

Harrison Ford
Jeremy Irons
Salman Rushdie (WTF?)
Diane von Fürstenberg

Posted by: Henry at October 1, 2009 4:33 PM

"It is simply a warning that, if celebrities can be extradited at a FILM FESTIVAL, heaven alone knows where it will all end."

Where will it end? Arresting child rapists at dinner theaters? Apprehending pedophiles at comedy clubs? Won't somebody please think about the children!

Last time I checked, you couldn't apply for asylum at a movie theater. Who gives a shit what they think about this "tradition".

Posted by: Anonymous at October 1, 2009 4:45 PM

Whoops, that was me.

Posted by: Seamus at October 1, 2009 4:46 PM

"Seamus at October 1, 2009 4:46 PM"

Dillenger was killed outside the Biograph theater and Oswald was arrested inside a movie house. So they haven't a leg to stand on.

Posted by: KHarn at October 1, 2009 4:57 PM

There is a simple solution to this problem that will only cost the taxpayers a few cents. As should happen to anyone who harms a child.

Posted by: SK at October 1, 2009 6:10 PM

and Conservatives naturally identify with prescription drug abuse, gay prostitution, and cross-dressing?

Oooh, a tuo quoque, albeit misdirected. All of those things are Democrat habits as well.

(Gay prostitution? You have the nerve to charge Americans with that, when you Reds want to legalize prostitution and faggotry and Bwaney Fwank is on your side of the aisle?)

Posted by: Jay Guevara at October 1, 2009 6:41 PM

The list of Polanski supporters would be an excellent start on a proscription list, a la Sulla.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at October 1, 2009 6:42 PM

It's only natural that anal astronauts should support one of their own.

Posted by: Vrye Denker at October 2, 2009 2:58 AM

What! Hollywood reads from a script, just like Obama.
