The Definition of Vanity
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at October 27, 2009 7:59 AM
van-i-ty: 1. excessive pride in one's appearance, qualities, abilities, achievements, 2. lack of real value; hollowness; worthlessness: the vanity of a selfish life. 3. something worthless, trivial, or pointless.
This explains how well-named Vanity Fair magazine really is. Considering that they recently decided to send Sean "Spicoli" Penn down to Cuba to write a fawning, worshipful paean to the murderous dictator Fidel Castro, who has enslaved and impoverished his people, thrown journalists in prison, and AIDS patients into concentration camps. This must be why he is such a huge hero and inspiration to the progressive left.
More recently, Michael Wolff, a contributing editor and columnist at Vanity Fair told Chris Matthews on MSDNC that FoxNews was "a really marginal, somewhat extreme presence in the United States." Coming from the editor of a far-left magazine whose circulation numbers are less than a third of Glenn Beck's TV audience and a tenth of his radio audience... who you callin' fringe, dude?
BTW, in 2008, Michael Wolff predicted that Rush Limbaugh would be finished as a broadcaster by the election of B. Hussein Obama.
