Thanks Again, Readers!

Posted by Van Helsing at October 4, 2009 1:24 PM

Thanks to the continued support and contributions of its cherished readership, Moonbattery is now at #61 and climbing on Wikio's list of the most influential political blogs. Here's how the ranking is compiled:

The position of a blog in the Wikio ranking depends on the number and weight of the incoming links from other blogs. These links are dynamic, which means that they are backlinks or links found within articles.
Only links found in the RSS feed are included. Blogrolls are not taken into account, and the weight of any given link increases according to how recently it was published. We thus hope to provide a classification that is more representative of the current influence levels of the blogs therein.
Moreover, the weight of a link depends on the linking blog's position in the Wikio ranking. With our algorithm, the weight of a link from a blog that is more highly ranked is greater than that of a link from a blog that is less well ranked.

The top of the list includes heavy hitters from the establishment media (The Caucus) and even Big Government itself (Whitehouse.gov). Keep the tips and photoshops coming, and we'll continue to close in on them.

On a tip from BURNING HOT.

Update:

Make that #59, on a tip from Rich.

Thank YOU! Congrats, and well deserved. One of the few places I can come to and expect the truth.

Van,
Many thanks to you for the work you do. It can't be easy but you need to know your work is valuable in preserving a free country.
Hang tough.

VH,

It's been a year and a half since I discovered your fantastic website, and due to your mastership of the pen Moonbattery has earned itself the #1 spot in my web browsing.

Keep up the good work of witty commentary and comical skepticism for the people's raised eyebrow.

Wish I had some rank I could shine on you, but you're #1 with me.

Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at October 4, 2009 3:10 PM

Congrats and keep up the good work!

You guys rock - your sarcasim approches the level of Limbaugh and your commentary makes liberals' heads explode!

You're the comtemporary Ben Franklins of commentary.

Congrats Van.

This recognition is well-deserved. Moonbattery is indispensable and I try to check in at least once a day.

Your commenters deserve some kudos too; this is the only site I know of where the posts as well as the comments are "must read".

Keep up the great work.

Congrats Van - you deserve it!! We have to hang together now that "the world" is taking over the Internet, so preserve Moonbattery and its important mission. I never start or end a day without my Moonbattery!

You've been on my favorites list long enough for me to forget how I got here in the first place, and always part of my daily reading list.

Yay, Moonbattery blog is my favorite guilty pleasure!

Posted by: LittleMissPerfect at October 4, 2009 5:15 PM

Congrats, and let me also say that I like the recent upgrades to the format.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. A young, attractive man who is muy, muy dear to my heart, suffers terribly from the cruelties inflicted upon him by the intolerant, right wing hate mongerers around here. Sometimes he is unable to physically express his love for me, and simply lays on his bed, crying softly for hours on end. "Why can't those rednecks love Obama like we do, Juan?", he often asks between bouts of sobbing. I tell him that they are different to us, and that Barack's hot body, tight buns and rugged good looks are not everyone's cup of tea. He cannot accept this. He is convinced that only intolerant haters of diversity could be impervious to the Hunky Hot One, and that maybe, just maybe, he can soften their hard hearts, and direct the hardness elsewhere, when pondering Obama. Especially when he is not wearing a shirt. Please refrain from the Hate Crimes. You are damaging a very sensitive boy's dreams for Hope and Change.

Yay! Moonbattery is one of the smartest and most entertaining sites of the web, so my only comment regarding the ranking is, "What? Number 61? Van Helsing was ROBBED!"

"readers" hell - i'm a willing participant! CONGRATS, VAN HELSING!

Posted by: nancz at October 4, 2009 6:59 PM

CONGRATULATIONS VAN!! When you're good you're good. I go to many blogs and this one has made #1 on my list. I find myself spending most of my time here now. ;-) ( I agree with Judith!)

wow - kick ass! On the current trajectory you should overtake DailyKos (#14) in around 6 months. Now that would be hilarious.

Congradulations Van (and the new elves)!

I very much appreciate the amount of hard work and dedication you have put into this for years.

I also want to say thanks to the many contributers who have well thought out and presented opinions on this site. It makes it worth reading!

Posted by: Oiao at October 4, 2009 8:12 PM

Moonbattery is the essence of awesomeness.

Posted by: SK at October 4, 2009 8:33 PM

Mr. Van,
When I wake up in the morning yours is the first website I open. I've told you before and I will say it again that it is because of this website and its many supporters that I feel like I am now a part of something. I absolutely believe that I am able to voice my political opinions and have them be heard amongst like-minded Americans. Church is the only other place that I have that same feeling of camaraderie. Thank you for doing what you do.

Posted by: obamasux at October 4, 2009 9:43 PM

I second that, obamasux! Many thanks to Van and the many contributors. I also agree with Rich, that the comments are "must reads" as much as the main articles. Still scrolling thru the trolls, though. Keep up the great work, everybody!

Posted by: Karin at October 5, 2009 5:32 AM

Great site. I always enjoy reading moonbattery in the morning, "heck" anytime of the day.
Van you rock and all the rest of you guys too.

Posted by: GregZ at October 5, 2009 9:04 AM

Keep up the great work everyone!

Your commenters deserve some kudos too; this is the only site I know of where the posts as well as the comments are "must read".

Moonbattery and IMAO are my only two (several times) daily reads online, for the reasons you state (also because both are updated frequently throughout the day).

Posted by: Nunya at October 5, 2009 11:13 AM

Outstanding, VH!!!

Also, I agree with Rich, Oiao, obamasux, Karin, et al - it's the commentary that makes this the exceptional site that it is.

Number 61? Number 1 in my book!!
