Soros, Newsweek, Chip Away at Economic Liberty
Posted by Van Helsing at October 28, 2009 11:40 AM
The United States government is now run by socialists who are systematically nationalizing every industry they can sink their claws into. But America's tailspin toward the poverty and oppression of statism isn't proceeding quickly enough for Shadow Party puppeteer George Soros, who is putting up $50 million of his ill-gotten wealth to advocate leftist economics, to the delight of Newsweek:
This week Soros is gathering some of the leading practitioners of the market-skeptic school, who were marginalized during the era of "free-market fundamentalism," among them Nobelists Joseph Stiglitz, George Akerlof, Michael Spence, and Sir James Mirrlees. He's also creating an "Institute for New Economic Thinking" to make research grants, convene symposiums, and establish a journal, all in an effort to take back the economics profession from the champions of free-market zealotry who have dominated it for decades, and to correct the failures of decades of market deregulation. Soros hopes matching funds will bring the total endowment up to $200 million. "Economics has failed not only to predict and explain what happened but has also failed to protect society," says Robert Johnson, a former managing director at Soros Fund Management, who will direct the new institute. "That's what the crisis revealed. The paradigm has failed. There is no guidance."
Incredibly, even as Big Government uses crises it caused as pretexts to squeeze the last life out of our economy, its verminous toadies in Big Media spur it forward, while whining preposterously about "free-market zealotry." But this does make sense from Newbleak's point of view, considering that this quasi-Marxist rag is losing readers so quickly that the only thing likely to save it from going under is government intervention.

On a tip from Ianto.

But from the cover, some good news: the Blackberry President is quitting the thug life.
So no more "community organizing" for him.

The only good Soros is a dead Soros. Ditto for his minions.

Can someone explain to me why Soros - of all people - opposes free markets. I mean, he manipulated financial markets to hammer Third World people (e.g., Thais) into the dirt. Does he want these people protected from the Soros's of the world?

..."Big Government uses crises it caused as pretexts to squeeze the last life out of our economy"...
What exactly are we talking about here? Deregulation? Saving the American automotive industry? Come on now.
Seriously... you see these strange dark cabals trying to end your existence... but without the government stepping in, GM is GONE. Already kaput. Whaddya think that would do to unemployment numbers? The overall economy? (Yeah, I thought so...)
Ditto increased regulation... if people were watching, there is no CDO crisis, and we aren't all screwed at the moment.
If you really want to just shout nonsense from the rooftops, take a lesson from Tinfoilhat-Man Beck and at least make it FUNNY. You get more mileage out of it that way.

The American automotive industry(ie; GM & Chrysler) has just been put on very expensive end of life support. If they were your grannys there is no way the BO administration would spend a nickle to extend their life. But make no mistake, GM & Chrysler are quite dead. This is just life support for the unions and we get to pay for it.
What letting them die would do for the unemployment numbers is very probably, not much. Doing what BO did served to push them up over 10% anyway and we don't really know how high they're going to go. Had GM and Chrysler been left to the free market to kill off and clean up we would probably have their assets back in to productive use by now with a company not hobbled by legacy debt and deadbeat unionists. Instead we'll keep GM and Chrysler on the gov't dole til the F***ng democrats get run out of Washington tarred feathered and on a rail. I hope.

Maybe GM should be gone. At least bankrupt. Keep shovelling money into it, operating the way it does, and it can NEVER recover in any meaningful way. You'll have to just keep shovelling more money into it. Face it, GM made their bed, they need to sleep in it. Sure, conditions were better back then, but they sold out to the union in a big way and made their business model unsustainable. Too bad. It's going to fail anyway, just now it will take a whole bunch of our money with it. Bad deal.
If we'd just let GM file for bankruptcy, it would have been a shock, but we'd get over it. When it does happen, now it will be an even bigger shock. Nothing is being done to address the underlying problems. It's just being held up to keep failing the same way it's been failing for the last 40 years, and sold out to the union. I laugh at the union, because they're getting a big fat nothing.
What do you think adding trillions of debt and printing trillions of dollars is going to do to CDO? We're not screwed at the moment, but we're on a collision course with a major meltdown. Everything this administration is doing is exactly the opposite of the Right Thing. These rats were able to gin up a crisis based on the "Community Reinvestment Act" via Fannie and Freddy, and have the koolaid drinkers convinced it demonstrates that the "market" solution doesn't work, when in fact it's the only thing that really does work.
There isn't one goddamn funny thing about this.

Do as he says, not as he does.
This message brought to you by Al Gore's private jet.

Interesting that an Institute for New Economic Thinking is being created to host individuals who would have to be economically illiterate in order to become a member.
All members of this politburo should have to read Ayn Rand's Objectivism to qualify to critique the free market.
To be capable of substituting anything for the free-market, one would have to be so lame as to not know the difference between a supply-demand curve and a Quijia board.
(That pretty much describes the left.)
Its also interesting that Newsweak is dying due to their inability to adjust to free-market principles.

here is some powerful countermoonbattery from the Chamber of Commerce. It will start a $100 million dollar campaign to promote free market ideas.

He is establishing an academic think tank with its own published journal, and drawing in the "best" anti-market talent.
Unfortunately, this heavy duty ivory tower moonbattery will find its way into college textbooks and lectures, thus ensuring another generation of community organizers and Marxist apparatchiks.

Soros wants all americans disarmed like any would be socialists scumball

When has nationalized industry EVER worked?? Anyone?? Bueller...?? Bueller...?? Anyone??
The true agenda here has always been plain - Soros is out to crash America on the rocks. I truely believe he is fundamentally insane. While making billions in the free markets he wants to crash the world's best economic model and model of personal freedom - classic America.
I think when we brought the USSR down, and a lot of fundamentally socialist/fascist regimes with it, it unhinged the man. He's even said we are scary and need to be brought down for the good of the world. As if we were Hitlerian or Stalinista hobnailed boots on the neck of the world instead of a light to see how to do 'good' with.
God save us because the idiot narcisistic Baby Boomers, poverty pimps, and class warriors are turning the country over to Soros and the America haters.
