Serve.gov Recruits Pro-Abortion Muscle

Posted by Van Helsing at October 20, 2009 10:22 AM

Attention moonbats: Comrade Obama has called upon volunteers to serve; volunteering is so important, Dems would like to make it mandatory. Now you have a chance to serve Chairman Zero in the most progressive way possible, by facilitating the liberal sacrament of abortion on his behalf. The nation's largest abortion mill Planned Parenthood is recruiting muscle through the Moonbat Messiah's Serve.gov. Lisa Stauber reports:

Earlier this week, Breitbart's BigGovernment site outed Serve.gov as promoting volunteer opportunities at the beleagured ACORN. Those posts have since been scrubbed, but I wondered what other opportunities this administration might be promoting.
Typing in the keyword "health" and selecting "Houston" brought up Planned Parenthood's need for volunteers to protect clients from the 40 Days for Life prayer vigil participants. Their job? Make sure prolife protestors don't speak or give any information to women seeking abortions at the clinic.

We wouldn't want Planned Parenthood to have to dip into its record profits or massive public financing to pay its goons.

Hat tips: The Blogprof, Jill Stanek.

You forget that there are at least 2 groups of people who would be delighted to volunteer at PP, and always will:

1) People who genuinely appreciate PP's relentless willingness to provide medical care to anyone who needs it.

2) The people who will do whatever it takes to oppose "the other team". Tons of people on this list playing for both teams these days.

Oh, and if you really think that 'mandatory volunteering' is a real possibility... I have a tinfoil hat for you. (It'll protect you from the black helicopters!)

Well, the bill's own language calls for an investigation of the feasibility of such a requirement. If mandatory service was such an ideological problem to so many moderates on your site, then why does the bill contain this language:

Under section 6104 of the bill, entitled “Duties,” in subsection B6, the legislation states that a commission will be set up to investigate, “Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.”

When the bill was being debated, several lefties called for Pell Grant and Stafford Loan eligibility to be tied to participation in these Federal community organizing/volunteer programs.

Granted, that isn't mandatory per se, however if college becomes so expensive that it is out of reach to most Americans lacking government assistance, and the only way to get that government assistance is to participate in a Marxist brownshirt program, then such requirements become coercive to such a degree as to make such programs virtually mandatory.

Some backers of the bill also wanted to tie Federal education funding to high schools to student participation in these programs. In that case, students would have no choice but to participate.

It's as if it doesn't even matter what the Democrats say, you're just going to tell them to fuck off over anything, regardless of whether what they're proposing sounds universally beneficial.

It's singleminded naysaying, a defence mechanism against things you don't understand and outright refuse to, just so you can claim another worthless victory from a system you've been pre-programmed to hate.

They want to introduce a program to encourages people to help each other - “WHAT!? How dare they tell us what to do, if we want to be inconsiderate douchebags, we have every right to be, and we don't care who it hurts...”

You can't legislate kindness, Aqua.

Aquatarkus, you would be singing a different tune if Bush would have implemented a mandatory service program.

The reason why these programs are bad is the same reason why government censorship of media, even in the interest of "civility", is always a bad idea: namely, the people tasked with making determinations of "good" and "bad" cannot be trusted.

The headline of this post says it all. The government service program is being used to advance a political agenda. When you combine mandatory service with partisans recruiting unfree labor to advance their causes, you begin to descend rapidly to a totalitarian society.

No agenda, be it left-wing or right-wing, should ever be furthered by compulsory citizen participation. I know you would have a huge problem with being shanghaied into supporting one of Bush's pet causes, so you should at least give the same respect to those who don't want to be part of a left-wing chain gang.

Judith,
Stupidity isn't redundant? :)

Actually, stupidity can be very creative, Farmer Ted, like those moonbats in the sweatlodge, for instance. ;)

The idea of anyone murdering helpless unborn children gets me and my omni-sexual mate sooo hot.

Blimey!

Goatse has claimed that contraception availability and sex education will reduce abortions, but refuses to say whether it was carelessness or ignorance that led him to knock up his sister and then kill it for his convenience.

Getting pregnant and then aborting it is the ultimate freedom of sexual empowerment

Posted by: Aquatarkus at October 20, 2009 4:30 PM

I assume when you are pro-abortion you mean abortion for someone else. Kind of silly for someone who is alive to think this way, don't you think?
