San Franfreakshow Ecofascists Don't Like Paper Bags Either
Posted by Van Helsing at October 22, 2009 9:46 AM
Moonbats won't let us have nuclear power, but neither do they want us using fossil fuels. Similarly, inmates of the asylum known as San Francisco are not to use plastic bags, nor are they to use paper bags:
In a city that has already banned plastic shopping sacks there is a new foe: paper bags.
San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi on Tuesday introduced legislation intended to encourage customers to bring their own shopping bags so stores can reduce the number of bags doled out at check out.
The ordinance, if passed, would require retailers to offer a 10-cent rebate to customers who use reusable sacks.
If the stores fail to comply, they would face fines from $100 to $500.
Note who pays the 10¢ rebate, which will add up to a fortune. If retailers want to stay in business, they have to pass extraneous costs like this on to the consumer — namely you. We hardly want to pay for this kind of posturing with so many out of work, most of whom unfortunately are not liberal bureauweenies.

On a tip from Muddypaw.
Comments
They seemed determine to emulate Detroit's example by driving all supermarkets out of the city.

I wouldn't touch San Fran with a ten-foot pole, or any other size pole. Not for business or pleasure.

They dont think about the fact that those reusable cloth bags tend to become bacteria traps unless washed after every use. Particularly when you carry meat or unwashed fruits and veggies in them. Washing them requires water, detergent and electricity. Maybe we will get lucky and the next quake will send the whole city into the Pacific like in those previews of the movie "2012".

These stores are hypocrites. They claim they recycle the plastic bags but they throw them away, I should know!
I bet you a dollar to a donut none of these stores recycle. I find their cans and bottles tossed every night! Their trash is full of plastic bags, cans and bottles (essentially cash in the trash).
I've called a couple of stores on it and they lie lie lie. I took a picture of it on my camera phone, showed the store manager and things were changed pronto.
If you're going to be green, practice what you preach.

It is odd that these people who believe in the oness of Gaia, that everything is connected and what we do here matters way over there, cannot fathom that concept when it comes to economics.

Another liberal eletists eco-freak pest from SAN FRANFREAKHOLE riding his bike to work I just wish someone would losen all the nuts and bolts on his stupid bicycle and watch him fall on his fat rear end

Ever notice the consistent theme of all leftist crap? Coercion. You are forced to do this, required to do that, forbidden from doing the other, checked on to make sure you behaving as required, punished if you don't.
Sure, this is a small thing, for now they all are small things. But it provides insight into the leftist mentality: they want you to live your life the way they think you should.
And that's the fundamental difference between leftists and Americans. Leftists want to control everyone; Americans want to be left alone.

Spurwing Plover: Wouldn't it be cool to see Glenn Beck chase the eco freak shove above on his own bicycle? It would be sorta like the chase scence from "Bullit." Glenn and the eco-freak could go zooming over the hilly streets and catch air. Only to have the eco-freak lose control and crash into an organic fruit stand, and explode into flames.

They are so-o-o-o two-faced and stupid all at the same time.
On the one hand they want carbon sequestration. The plastic bags are made of waste gases at the refinery that would normally be burned off on that giant flaming candle you sometimes still see. Then, the bags are buried in a landfill. They are extremely low size volume and all plastic in the waste stream is less than 10% total. The bags are a very, very small part of the waste stream, yet sequester carbon.
So we stopped it.
I'm confused. But then, insanity never did make sense to me.

but, but, without paper bags - how can I leave flaming do-do on democrats front porches??
huh???

And that's the fundamental difference between leftists and Americans. Leftists want to control everyone; Americans want to be left alone.
Control is only the first step of the leftist endgame. Their end goal is not power over your body, in that they can strictly control what you do and don't do, nor is it even a simple power over your mind, so that they can tell you what you can't say or think.
What the far left really wants is to re-shape the way people think so that authoritarian control becomes unnecessary, much how Winston Smith was finally released after learning to love Big Brother.
They do it in the schools, by carefully selecting a curricula designed to mold impressionable minds without giving students the ability to think for themselves or be self-reliant.
They do it in the media, by pumping out a nonstop stream of entertainment and alleged "news" designed to subtly bend the naive to their mode of thought, without having to justify their reasoning.
They do it with our language, by literally telling us what words are and are not acceptable, and by reforming speech patterns as a subconscious precursor to the reform of thought patterns.
They don't want to take our bags nearly as much as they want to extinguish our capacity for independent thought so that we are horrified by the thought of plastic bags, once we receive the official line on what we should and shouldn't believe.
The left is brewing up enough Kool-Aid for all 300 million of us, promising a better life if we all succumb together.

Most of the supermarkets around here give a 5¢ refund for each reusable bag you use. I've been using my own for a year. I always figured they can afford to do this because eventually the bags saved will add up to one regular bag order they don't have to make. I have never cared about the environmental angle anyway--we recycle the plastic bags we get--I just like saving 5¢ each time I reuse a bag.
These stores instituted this policy voluntarily. Our city council didn't have to force them to do it. San Fran should give its stores tax breaks for compliance, not fines.

You know the saying “People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones”?
If anyone around here can be accused of being fascists, I suggest you carefully consider your own beliefs and opinions before mocking those of others....

@SPURWING PLOVER
What's wrong with riding a bike to work?
Posted by: bikes at October 22, 2009 2:07 PM
Speaking of bicycles, have you ever observed what happens when someone tosses a small stick into the spokes of a moving bicycle?

"bikes at October 22, 2009 2:07 PM"
For me, it's crossing and traveling along two VERY busy highways before the sun comes up. I really would ride my bike to work (Seven speed, ten miles) if not for the above.

Fascism refers to a collectivist philosophy in which the government partners with and directs big business to advance its agenda of national improvement, and considers individuals as assets of the state.
So I suggest you carefully consider your own beliefs and opinions before mocking those of others....

Fascism always arises from the leftist inability to simply leave people the hell alone.
What posesses people to become such nagging nellies anyway?

Suggestion noted. Opinion carefully considered- you're a sissy, hippie, marxist, back-door muslim root. The grocer in the corner store is a "fascist" according to communist fruits like you.
Is that more to your liking?

Nick Griffin, the leader of the British National Party was on TV this evening answering questions about his party's policies.
Dear God, the man is insane!
He demonstrated that he can hold two opposing viewpoints at once on any given subject, in other words, he demonstrated that he is proficient in doublethink.
He reminded me of everything that I can't stand about the right - the endless contradictions, the inconsistencies in your dislikes, the persecution complex, the lack of historical knowledge, the total unwillingness to admit your mistakes, the ridiculous belief that the right will never do anything evil, and that every problem in the history of the world (rather than just a few of them of them) are the left's fault, the fact that you think the reason people ignore you is because they're stupid, rather than because you're a massive arsehole.
And of course, the racism, the homophobia, the ignorance, the greed, the hypocrisy and the endless fucking rhetoric.
I await your hysterical retorts.
You criticise Britain, but you forget that in any other country, Nick Griffin would be taken seriously.
Instead, we allow him his freedom of speech and a chance to explain himself on national television, where within seconds he revealed to us all what we believed him to be all along - a bigot, an fool, and a twat.

SewerFrancisco has become the sanctuary city for the dregs of humanity. The city is a living encyclopedia of every addiction imaginable. That can explain why they elect such warped personalities to city, state and national offices. The city's population will tolerate no interferance in their deviant lifestyles so they elect people who will protect civil rights to pursue addictions and perversions.

Ah, but did you elect him head of government? Hmmm? We got you there. Let's see you top that!
PS: let us know when you finally figure out that our bigot, fool, and twat will cut you Brits in a heartbeat if you need us - which you will. And say "hey" to the Poles and Czechs for us, OK? (Don't take time out from your Russian and/or Arabic lessons to do this. God knows that's more important to your survival.)

Btw, Aquapussy, I doubt very much that one American in 100,000 has ever heard of Nick Griffin. How many Bolivian political figures can you name? One, maybe? Now you know our perspective.

It's funny how when I go off into a tirade about how you are an ignorant racist with a persecution complex who thinks he is never wrong, you respond by reinforcing how you are an ignorant racist with a persecution complex who thinks he is never wrong.
If you weren't a complete moron, you would've just said “fuck you” and left it at that.
Why do you always leap to the “when your faggoty-assed country is overrun by BLANK....” or the “we saved/kicked your ass in BLANK” or the “America rules, you communist/liberal/marxist/pussy” clichés?.

Listen, dumbass - "dipshit" is a term used exclusively as a "term of endearment" describing buttf*ck liberals - don't try to make the term your own you worthless plagiarizing bastard.
You know, you stink. You must be on Comrade Hugo's 3-minute shower routine. Do you use deodorant? Maybe you should give it a try. If nothing else, at least you could lick your armpits once in a while.
Posted by: Jimbo at October 22, 2009 10:44 PM
Oh... on topic...
Me & Mrs. Jimbo use 'reusable' bags - we have for years. It's because not only do they hold more, are easier to pickup and put down; they hold more and ride better in the back seat. Conservatives DO believe in conservation (DUH!). The fact that silly liberals believe this is their idea is ridiculous. They're about 5-years behind.
Posted by: Jimbo at October 22, 2009 11:04 PM
Jimbo:
It's great to see that the righteous wards of conservative ‘thought’ aren't above really bad gay jokes.
What's this about ‘dipshit’? It's just a generic two syllable swear word, like douchebag or fucknut or Jimbo.
Posted by: Aquatarkus at October 22, 2009 11:26 PM
We've been encouraged to re-use plastic bags for the last few years in Britain, but that's probably just us being gay as usual,.....

I don't think it's a bad idea to limit the use of shopping bags, but it would be a little wiser to charge customers if they want a bag from the store, instead of giving them money for nothing.
Posted by: Vrye Denker at October 23, 2009 12:35 AM
If liberals are not stopped, eventually we won't need grocery bags at all. Just show up at the back of the big government ration truck with your feed pan and receive your daily swill.
Posted by: Essaicheyetee-Bird at October 23, 2009 10:04 AM
I got some reusable bags as soon as they became available, and I'm quite happy with them. No need for fines; I'm sure most people will switch voluntarily.
