Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Michael Savage

Posted by The MaryHunter at October 6, 2009 4:32 AM

His style is abrasive, though his intentions are pure. Love him or hate him, Michael Savage is a conservative radio icon not about to be hushed by politically correct, pinkie-pointing nimrods. His passion to uncover the truth about the scourge of liberalism and socialism has gained him quite a few enemies, most notably the British government. Mr. Savage is the only member of the U.S. media to have been banned from a Western nation.

Being blacklisted and labeled as a hatemonger hasn't slowed him down, though. On 15 October, Mr. Savage will debate, via internet video link, "the insanity of political correctness" with "fancy argumentative types" at the Cambridge Union, what Wikipedia calls a worldwide "noted symbol of free speech and open debate."

"This debate should awaken all free British citizens to the disastrous state the Gordon Brown government has created," he says. "By speaking passionately about freedom of speech, I hope to appeal to the British people and the incoming conservative leadership to remove my name from their list of murders and terrorists. And I hope to save England from a descent into mental slavery where petty bureaucrats dictate what can and cannot be discussed."

Publicity stunt? Sure. On a mission from God to thwart moonbattery at it's freedom-squelching worst? Indubitably.

You go Michael.

Comments

I hope Michael Savage creates a boxed DVD set of the debates; I would like to watch as he eats their lunch and breakfast and feeds them their wigs.

I think there is a petition on his site to support him via our own State Department. Good luck Michael Savage.

Dr. Savage's Fox syndicated radio show: Savage nation, is a great listen. Another voice in the wilderness.

Britain is lost. Their descent into socialism and lethargy is too great now and they've left muslims infiltrate every facet of their society. Sure call me racist but when female police officers who aren't muslims need to wear a headscarf "not to offend muslims" I call it submission. You're not in their backward country, they are in yours, morons.

Posted by: Jay B at October 6, 2009 5:21 AM

Jay B,

Agreed. Britain would have to have a full scale revolt to elect the islamofascists and corral the errant libstains. OFF WITH THEIR HEAD's should be the Queen's cry but she won't and they can't.

Posted by: Mike G at October 6, 2009 5:34 AM

I like Savage. But I don't understand why he was so upset about being banned from Britain. I would have worn that banning like a badge of honor!

Posted by: LoneWolfArcher at October 6, 2009 6:02 AM

Savage is great. Has anyone ever figured out why the other great talk show hosts, i.e. Rush, Levin, Hannity, Beck etal, never according to Dr Savage spoke up in his defense on his being banned in Britain?

Posted by: Contrarian_Libertarian at October 6, 2009 6:21 AM

Contrarian_Libertarian: Good Q. Part of that is, I think, Savage being Savage the Suffering Crusader. Hannity and Levin are talk show host that often mention other hosts, but I don't recall hearing Beck, Ingraham, or especially Rush mention the others much at all.

I am a life member of the Cambridge Union Society. Haven't been there in years, I might have to look up my membership card and head on over.

Funny thing is even I (who blog regularly about US politics) had never heard of Savage until Jacqui Smith had him banned. He would never have had that invitation until then. You in America had probably never heard of Jacqui Smith, 'Jack-boot Jacqui', our authoritarian left-wing student politician of a Home Secretary until then either.

Britain is not quite lost. The current authoritarian socialists will be kicked out in the election next year. Our next Prime Minister, David Cameron, is not only bright and well-educated but he has proved far more ruthless than he comes across. Many of his senior party members have too. I don't agree with everything he proposes, but he will be a huge improvement.

His timing will be perfect for US/British relations, as Obama and the Democrats will be proved in next year's mid-terms to be desperately unpopular, so Cameron will not feel he has to suck up too much. He will thus be able to work with the new POTUS in 2012.

As I recall, may Brits had much the same reaction to their Commie home boy MP George Galloway sticking it to the Yanks during a US Senate committee in 2005, when he was defending himself against accusations of oil profiteering during the Iraq war. American Senators are used to fawning deference, and were taken aback by Galloway’s blustering style.

It’s not that Brits think what is happening to their country is great. Read the comments from Joe Blows in papers like the Sun. It’s that their government is completely out of their hands, and is run by outrageous lefties. There is no “grassroots” culture. There are no “Vote Yes on Prop. 12” signs in front gardens, because Prop. 12 doesn’t exist. IMO, it’s also true that large numbers have become addicted to the benefits, council house, NHS culture.

Savage will probably have an interesting exchange with the Cambridge Union, which is, after all, a debating society. They won’t fawn and don’t expect fawning. But I suspect that no minds will be changed. The Cambridge elite will leave the debate more convinced than ever that America is full of vulgar barbarians with terrible accents. Savage will get his latest 15 minutes and many American attaboy’s. Still, the debate should have some fun moments.

if you listen to the savage nation you would know he doesn't like any of the other right wing talk show hosts. He has derogatory names for each one of them. he calls Rush a "junkie" and Hannity "the leprechaun" and considers them all to be hypocrites and liars.

Posted by: Sinister at October 6, 2009 8:47 AM

"His style is abrasive, though his intentions are pure."

Or he's a self promoter seeing what the most outrageous thing he can say is while keeping his seat. He's purely a self promoter.

Look at his previous life as a new-agey (said: bullshit) "nutritional ethnomedicine" expert, wherein he tried to gain fame with the bogus claim that aluminum cookware (among other things) was the cause of alzheimer's disease. No need for evidence (just like now). Or any of his other homeopathy nonsense. Becoming a legitimate researcher is not the quickest path to fame so he didn't take it. Radio racism was the quickest of all, so there he is.

A racist hippy. Can it get lower than that?

"Being blacklisted and labeled as a hatemonger..."

Labeled? He IS a hatemonger, and has regularly called for the murder of millions. Not that I think he means it, but because it makes his idiot listeners feel like they have some power and gives their anger an outlet in an unsure world.

Fine. But let's call him what he is: a snake oil salesmen that does not, of course, really care about the content of the snake oil.

Posted by: brs at October 6, 2009 9:32 AM

Just for the humor, he says this and worse:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2003-07-07-talk-host-fired_x.htm

...but delivers it all with the most flaming voice I've ever heard. Subconscious appeal for some of the base?

Not that there's anything wrong with that....

Posted by: brs at October 6, 2009 9:35 AM

savage = devoted zionist; i.e., his interests are against the USA.

" . . .what Wikipedia calls a worldwide 'noted symbol of free speech and open debate.'"

Yeah, trust Wikipedia to give you the Lib slant, the whole Lib slant, and only the Lib slant. Mark Levin is now on a crusade to shine the light of day on these cockroaches (check out the 3rd hour, especially, of his show on Monday, Oct. 5th, for a good primer on how Wicked-pedia (his phrase) operates to slime anyone to the right of Fidel Castro/Robert Mugabe/Hugo Chavez).

Posted by: jc14 at October 6, 2009 11:36 AM

Levin is a jackass .Anyone can post on wikipedia, not just a left or right wing person.
Between the radio talk show people giving either an extreme right slant or an extreme left slant people like me cant get the straight truth.

Posted by: Sinister at October 6, 2009 11:48 AM

facts have a well known liberal slant.

It's good knowing that you guys look up to a guy and can't even defend his past of scientific fraud, or Xenophobic calls for mass murder.

Aim high, moonbattery!

I'll bet you don't even listen to Dr Savage.

BAAAH BAAAH BAAAH

Savage is a Genius. TWO Masters and and a Phd the Man has. I know, education isn't everything, but Savage is an immense intellect. His books are worth reading too. I've listened to him for years, and have yet to hear a single lib caller outsmart or out-debate him.

Who are these "yanks" you are addressing?

Ken in DIXIE.

Levin is a jackass. Anyone can post on wikipedia, not just a left or right wing person.

Spoken like somebody who's never actually posted anything significant on Wikipedia. They have these people called "moderators" who edit/delete/revert articles all the time. It might surprise you to know that almost all internet forums, new aggregators, and blogs have them too.

Gah, I can't stand Savage. And this is coming from someone who agrees with every last thing he's said. "Borders, language, and culture are what makes up a country." Spot-on. He's right.

What I find aggravating about the guy is his style. It's a turn-off. He's angry, he's depressing, he is nasty. He doesn't give us any hope for the future or any reason to think things are going to get better. His suggestion to those who disagree is that they ought to pour gasoline on themselves and light a match. Or call them "human garbage."

I used to listen to him when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, which incidentally is where he lives. He began a broadcast with, "I was sitting on the stern of my boat out on the Bay the other day, pulling on my chin and thinking about how this world has gone to hell...." or something along those lines. I think that was when I turned my radio off. The guy has amassed enough money to buy a boat and he still thinks that the American experiment has come to a halt?

Rush doesn't do any of this. He gets frustrated sometimes, but he doesn't get nasty with callers, and neither does he ever fail to say, "But at the end of the day, we will prevail. Keep up the good fight, fellow conservatives" or words to that effect. He always maintains his confidence that eventually, the American people will always see through the Leftist bullshit.

I've even heard it suggested that Savage isn't a right-winger at all, but in fact a leftist plant sent "over here" from by the Move-On.org crowd or one of their friends. The mission? Talk a good game, and tear down the conservative movement from the inside by convincing everyone in the middle that all the stereotypes about us being Bible-beating, redneck, hateful bigots are true.

Posted by: Cylar at October 7, 2009 1:12 AM

I think I know why Savage is so depressing, actually. He once said that he doesn't think God has "time" to deal with someone as insignificant as him.

That couldn't be further from the truth. God is infinite and He's got all the time in the universe to be intimately and personally involved in each of our lives.

Rush says he's a Christian, and Ann Coulter has said likewise. That's the difference between them and a depressing ranter like Savage. They know that this world will one day come to an end; Savage just thinks that one day all hell will break loose.

I choose to listen to those who believe that righteousness will ultimately prevail, both in this world and in the next.

The irony and hypocrisy of Savage is almost too ridiculous for words! Probably why his media cohorts won't even come to his defense. This is the same guy who was calling to reinstate the 1918 Sedition Act just a few years ago! Under sedition, any of you calling Obama Hitler etc., could be round up and held for treason. You neocons never learn!

Just one week before Michael Savage was scheduled to debate via video link at the Cambridge Union in England, the co-presidents of the two-century-old society informed the top-rated radio host they have canceled the event.

First, bag the "neocon" crap. You don't even know what the word means. It means Jew. Is that what you meant to say, you anti-Semitic prick?

Second, as for calling the president "Hitler," let's turn that around. The Left threw it around like chicken feed for the 8 years Bush was in office...now suddenly it's taboo.

If we are hypocrites, so are you.

And by the way, Ron Paul is a certified loon. I've love to never again have to hear about what a wonderful guy he's supposed to be.

Get lost.
