1) Game 3 of the NL division playoffs postponed due to excessive temps in Denver, CO. (highs mid-20's F).

2) Colorado ski resorts cancel season due to forecasts for heat and drought. (Loveland Ski Area and A-Basin hold earliest openings in 40 years).

I usually hesitate to cite anecdotal evidence, but these were irresistible. Bringing this to the attention of an in-the-know climate scientist, I was informed that it all fits perfectly within the irrefutable computer modeling.

Among his brilliant economic actions, President Obama has issued executive orders regarding U.S. Government Contracts. His orders specify that all workers who work on U.S. Government contracts must pay union dues, even if they do not belong to unions; and the company awarded the contract must pay union wages.

The result is that the American tax payers again lose, because competition will be reduced and contract prices will be higher.

I think that if the Nobel Prize Committee desired to award Obama a laughable award, they should have awarded him the Nobel Prize for Economics.

I have described Obamamania, as evidenced most recently by the award of the Nobel Peace Prize, as farce. I stand by that description. But farce is not the only apt term. I think the "folly" described by Charles MacKay over 150 years ago fits as well.

Where are we on the chart of Obama's rising star at this moment in time? Hard to say. The Dutch tulip mania lasted years. And as with The Tulipomania, the worship of Obama by a large portion of the population is based upon expectations and imaginations beyond any rational measure, rising to the level of mythology.

It is impossible to predict the timing of the collapse -- the point at which those gripped by mania recognize their own delusion and refuse to continue. Given how much the mainstream media, Hollywood, academia, European socialists, internationalists, and the left-wing blogosphere have invested in perpetuating the Obama mythology, it may take a while.

But I do know that when the bubble bursts, it will make The Tulipomania seem like a fond memory, because it will not be just those who took part in the mania who will be hurt, but the entire nation.

This may be an anomaly masking a larger global warming trend, it may not.

The problem in knowing for certain, is that the GW data is for the most part, generated by the side that has the most money.

GW research is largely funded by government, left-wing groups and academic grant money.
Since a lot of money is available for GW research and green-technology is ubiquitous, there is enormous motivation to confirm the anthropogenic GW hypothesis.

This combines to produce a one-sided data onslaught, and is what the great physicist Richard Feynman called, "Cargo Cart Science" or the bandwagon effect.

The principle part of any counter-evidence disputing data supportive of GW comes in by referring to that same heretofore supportive data, data collected from routine measurements not originally intended to test a particular hypothesis (such as sea ice), or again from historical data sets. Consequently, evidence derived from hypotheses designed to rigorously test the foundations of GW is by comparison miniscule.

Thus since the vast majority of GW data is supported by government with a vested interest in cap and trade, the outcome is certain: GW exists and it is man-made.

This would be like having your primary-care physician diagnosing a heart attack and then ordering coronary by-pass for every possible malady you may come in with.
The patient can only be skeptical but doesn't have the expertise to show that an alternative therapy is warranted.

These are the rules by which the left does science.

Harry Reid’s Toy Train

We’ve all heard of the scandalous $320 milion Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska. It was intended to link the metropolis of Ketchikan to the island of Gravina, population 50, and was finally shot down by Congress.

Somewhat fewer Americans have heard of the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport in Pennsylvania. Democrat Rep. Murtha, the undisputed King of Pork, has suckered the federal government–that would be us taxpayers–to funnel over $200 million so far into the airport, replete with state of the art technology.

The only person who regularly flies into and out of the facility is John Murtha.

His semi-private airport not only has not been de-funded but Murtha even wheedled $800,000 out of Obama’s stimulus package to re-pave a backup runway, just in case the main runway deteriorates from underuse.

Senate Majority Leader, Democrat Harry Reid of Nevada poohpoohs such piddling expenditures and waste with his challenge to fellow spendthrifts to just try to top this: $8 BILLION to build his grown-up version of a set of Lionels!

Senator Harry wants to link Vegas to L.A. with a monorail system, technically a light rail high speed train covering the 265 miles from Sin City to its California terminus, Victorville.

Why not? He’s not paying for it. The money . . .
