Let's see what I've got for this week...
From my politics blog: 5 Somali pirates were captured after firing at a French navy ship they thought was a commercial one.
From my comics blog: Katma Tui, the first female member of the Green Lantern Corps, should be brought back to the land of living.
And, from my game blog: a taping of the Legend of Kage.

Your esteemed Senators have so little respect for you that some of them are willing to vote in favor of legislation which does not exist because THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.
The actual legislation will be drafted in secret by Harry Reid and a few other people, including staffers whose names and political connections you never will know, and the resulting legislation will be rammed through the Senate and House before anyone gets to read and analyze it.
Months of debate mean nothing. It's all smoke and mirrors by people who think you are too stupid to realize what is going on.
Have I made myself clear on this? THERE IS NO BAUCUS BILL.

U.S. debt reaches 1.4 tril.

"How many alarm bells have to be set off before Washington Democrats get serious about tackling dangerous budget deficits?", (Republican)House Minority Leader John Boehner said. "
Well, probably all of them and then some. The dems are spending like drunken sailors, and having a good time too.
Of course, the dems claim it's not their fault:
"The White House has insisted it is suffering for the financial crisis it inherited from the Bush administration. " Eh, eh, it's Bush's fault! He did it!

French warship surrenders to pirates off the coast of Somalia. (check the picture)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/piracy/6270848/Somali-pirates-mistake-French-warship-for-soft-target.html
Oh wait. The pirates were "starting their pre-boarding drill", and ran away.
La Somme, a refueling ship and command vessel, followed the group and quickly caught up with one of the boats. Five crewmen surrendered without a struggle. The second boat escaped, but other warships in the area have taken up the search.
The second boat escaped? With other warships in the area? Gotta love those French.

School Kids Sing Praises of Health Care Reform on CNN
Big Hollywood should have started a pool where we could all drop a buck and guess the date and time a national news network would highlight a bunch of school kids singing for Dear Leader’s flagging bid to take over our nation’s health care. This is what the Left does, after all. Correcting bad behavior that furthers their cause is out of the question. So instead, they get us used to their bad behavior by performing it over and over again as if to say, “Would I be doing this so brazenly if it was wrong?”

Love what Jeb Bush said on FNC this morning. "It's time they put on their Big Boy pants and take some responsibility for their own failures!
Whenever they admit (never happen) Dodd and Frank destroyed our economy we will start to see some progress!

Thirty Senate Republicans voted against a measure to de-fund military contractors who prevent rape victims from seeking justice.
Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) introduced an amendment to a defense appropriations bill that would prevent the federal government from funding contractors whose employee contracts prevent workers from pursuing allegations of rape against co-workers.
The measure passed the Senate by a vote of 68 to 30, with all 30 'no' votes being cast by Republicans. Notably, 10 Senate Republicans voted for the measure, including all four female Republican senators.
Franken was inspired to push the amendment by the story of Jamie Leigh Jones, who was an employee of KBR -- at the time a subsidiary of Halliburton -- working in Baghdad's Green Zone when she was allegedly gang-raped by other KBR workers.
In a harrowing expose, ABC News recounted how Jones was locked in a shipping container, denied access to communication with the outside world, and told she would lose her job if she left Iraq or sought medical attention.

Sally,
Care to provide some LINKS so we can review your source materials for ourselves? I know this is hard for a liberal to comprehend, but we like to do our own research here.... not that we think a lib would stretch the truth or outright LIE or anything like that....
Which appropriations bill? (hint... it'll be SB####)... and what was the name of the amendment?
Posted by: hiram at October 8, 2009 8:24 AM
Well hiram, if you like to do your own research, be my guest. But this should help you out.
Posted by: Sally Out West at October 8, 2009 8:56 AM
Sally, you sly little girl you.
The vote was to punish contractors who have the usual arbitration-first clause in employee contracts.
I guess you were just passing on a piece of BS and never read it yourself, you just read the spin.
I can see why Hiram wanted verification

SWEEEEEET!

Sally;
I got it all right.
She sued for rape in a civil suit.
The company said the agreement for ALL claims is to go to arbitration first. Standard everywhere on earth now.
She didn't even think of arbitration.
The court decided that claims of this nature are not covered by the mandatory arbitration.
It took the courts four years to decide that.
What she is claiming is that Halliburton should pay for her rape, not the alleged perps, on the grounds that they did not provide her with a safe system of work.
That idiot Franken and his mates haven't a clue what they are doing.
Now when an employee has a claim against the company he has to get a lawyer and go to court and wait for years. Arbitration doesnt usually use lawyers and is fast and free.
And not binding in most cases.
And in arbitration, the employee gets to have a say on who will be the arbitrator.
Geez,Louise. What a bloody shambles.
