Obama's Insufferable Arrogance Caused Olympic Fail

The Chicago Sun Times has gathered more unhinged voices of the left claiming that W can be blamed even for Chairman Zero not bringing home the Olympic bacon on behalf of his slumlord cronies in the Windy City.
Some Chicago officials say anti-American resentment likely played a role in Chicago's Olympic bid dying in the first round Friday.
President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for years, they said.
"There must be" resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Center Plaza. "The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we misled the world into Iraq. [Quack quack quack …]
U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said she was approached by a consul general at the plaza as they waited for word Friday. "He said … he was hearing that there wasn't enough time for Barack Obama to dispel the old image."
Blago's boy Rowland Burris couldn't have put it better.
However, over in Copenhagen — where the Moonbat Messiah landed on his face before the International Olympic Committee — folks take a different view. From the Denmark's Ekstra Bladet, via Gateway Pundit:
Chicago was the victim of his own disrespect. … The world's mightiest man's visit was not an expression of humility … Obama does not take the IOC and the Olympic ideals seriously.
There's only one thing Obama takes seriously, and that's Obama — although soon he'll be the only one who does.

I found the Obamas' pitch — the president doing his usual I-I-I-I-I Carmen Miranda routine and the missus citing her father's multiple sclerosis — oddly reminiscent of the Atlanta Olympics: If you watched the TV coverage in Canada, the Netherlands, you would have seen people of many lands swimming up pools and running round tracks. If you randomly switched on NBC's U.S. coverage, you saw sappy soft-focus features accompanied by elevator muzak about this or that heartwarming Ohio shotputter who'd overcome childhood polio or whatnot. The Olympics as covered by NBC wasn't a contest of sporting excellence but merely another opportunity for the usual wallow in Oprahfied mawkishness.

The impression I got from Obama's self-admiration sales pitch was "I am the One. I want the Olympics in Chicago as affirmation of my greatness. Now make it so."

Rio was going to get the games regardless. But originally they planned to keep Chicago in it until the final round. Obamas obsession with himself, his constant use of the word "I" and his general arrogance led them to boot Chicago first to send him a message.

Obama's arrogance during the Copenhagen bid for the Olympics was dwarfed by his arrogance during the meeting with Gen McChrystal. Our fighting forced are dying while this corruptocrat prances and preens on the world stage and wonders why the audience is laughing. American sons and daughters fighting and dying for our freedom and no one pays attention. Where is the outrage? Code Pink? the screeching left moonbats? Even we, the conservative right, aren't making enough out of this. It is a travesty. I don't care what they do, nothing is this important. We may end up with government run healthcare no matter what if our freedom is lost. When president for life Chaves, or Bin Laden or whoever is in charge of the Taliban takes over due to our weeknedd you won't get any kind of healthcare except the kind at the end of a gun.

I don't really hear any cheering because "we lost the Olympics."
What I do hear is people relieved that not everyone in the world has lost their minds and will fawn in admiration over the 44th U.S. President. It's just nice to see a dose of reality come up and smack some people in their faces, that's all. We're just hoping maybe an example like this will leave people a bit more rooted in reality, and not caught up in a fantasy utopia. This is real life, and it's sometimes difficult, and you can't always have everything that you want. Most (normal) people understand that.
