Obama's Craven Foreign Policy: Civil Rights Be Damned, Don't Diss China!
Posted by The MaryHunter at October 5, 2009 6:33 PM
You would think that liberal-minded folk would stand and fight for an oppressed people. Oppressing, after all, is what conservatives and capitalists do to the downtrodden of the world.
But when the oppressor is Communist China, what happens? Nothing, according to President Obama. This week, Our Dear Leader chose not to meet with the Dalai Lama, who is actually visiting DC. For the first time in 18 years, Tibet's spiritual leader has been stood up by an American president.
It's Bush's fault, you say? Not exactly:
Since 1991, [Dalai Lama] has been here 10 times. Most times the meetings have been "drop-in" visits at the White House. The last time he was here, in 2007, however, George W. Bush became the first sitting president to meet with him publicly, at a ceremony at the Capitol in which he awarded the Dalai Lama the Congressional Gold Medal, Congress's highest civilian award.
W's meeting, by the way, was protested mightily by China.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama can certainly be a loonbat, but he is probably the single most important living international symbol for human civil rights abuse -- and by reflection, of the cruel oppressive nature of Communist China. Yet, other things seem a tad more important to Chaiman O:
The U.S. decision to postpone the meeting appears to be part of a strategy to improve ties with China that also includes soft-pedaling criticism of China's human rights and financial policies as well as backing efforts to elevate China's position in international institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund.
As with all Statist doublespeak, this diplomatic lunacy has a new name:
Obama administration officials have termed the new policy "strategic reassurance," which entails the U.S. government taking steps to convince China that it is not out to contain the emerging Asian power.
Translation: "strategic our-debt-and-ass-are-yours-dear-China".
Cowardice by any other name is still despicable, unseemly for the "Leader of the Free World", and right in line with the fundamental nature of the Obsequiator-in-Chief.

The Jugeared Nitwit's obsequiousness toward the ChiComs isn't surprising. After all, the scum bowed down and all but licked the Saudi king's balls on the world stage.

Once the Left has power, they are ineffective....
Can't wait to see if the Progressive SNL cast (when they are not signing petitions to get Polanski off) will even touch this one..........nope.
Liberals have no balls.
There is no way any Troll can even try to justify this, so I expect ...... from the trolls.

Bush isn't in office, Tibet is not important anymore to Liberals. They never cared a second about Tibet, they only wanted to protest because everyone else did. Talk about sickening double standards, give or take two years and Obama will great foreign leaders by kissing their shoes.

Wait until China (and Japan and Russia) dumps the US Dollar for oil purchases in the Middle East...there's gonna be some fun then.
The China flag will REPLACE Old Glory flying above the White House. Watch those fireworks!

Yes, and the Soviet Union was officially known as the "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." What's your point?

Flags Flying at the White House, but Whose?
While the flags of many nations are flown at the White House when dignitaries of those countries visit, this seems to be the first time a foreign nation’s flag will be hoisted to celebrate that country’s founding, communist or not.
There is no flag rule or regulation that prohibits the flying of flags from foreign nations at the White House; although the Capitol grounds are another matter. The updated 2008 federal flag code is a bit confusing, but it says no flag can fly higher on American soil than the U.S. flag, except for the UN flag at UN headquarters. So there is no direct violation of the U.S. flag code here.
But it does seem to be culturally and universally understood by patriots of all nations that one wouldn’t want to fly the flag of a rival nation that has a governmental philosophy that is diametrically opposed to the founding principles of your own nation.
If the Chinese flag is raised on the south lawn of the White House on September 20, then perhaps the present occupants of the White House, appointees and advisors, see little difference between their own political beliefs — statist-to-socialist — compared to the statist-to-full-fledged-communist outlook of their confreres in Beijing.

How is this even happening? Here. In America.

what's funny is that if Obama met with the Dalai Lama, you'd just ridicule him for doing that.
Why don't you just write one post now that says whatever Obama does is wrong, from brushing his teeth, to which side of the bed he gets up from, keep it up for four years and leave it at that?

For the record, China is a not a communist country, it's a socialist one.
You don't know what you're talking about. China IS Communist, ruled by the Communist Party of China ever since Mao seized power (with the assistance of the Democrat controlled US government) at the end of WWII.
China is Maoist, as oppposed to the Stalinism of the Soviet Union.

"what's funny is that if Obama met with the Dalai Lama, you'd just ridicule him for doing that."
Why would anyone ridicule him simply for meeting the Dalai Lama? Bush met him, as did Clinton as have countless world leaders through the decades. Why don't you have the faintest clue?

Because you moonbats already used up that screed on W for the past 8 years. And besides, we have actual proof that Obama is a no-talent, no-accomplishment, un-American Eff-Up.

"Why would anyone ridicule him simply for meeting the Dalai Lama?"
Believe me, you'd find a reason, most likely due to the fact that the Dalai Lama has some pretty leftist ideals. You'd accuse him of colluding with the Dalai Lama as part of his socialist/fascist death panel world Islamic takeover plan.
And don't, for one second, pretend you wouldn't!
because you are crazy, that's why...

Chairman Zero's karma is in the crapper now.
Zero probably has issues with this:

Not surprising, given that the Chinese Premier just went to North Korea and apparently was able to convince them to return to the six-party talks.

The silver lining in this one is that -- we can only hope -- the moonbatty Eastern religion-following crowd in Hollywood will take notice and, just maybe, see Obama for who the SOB really is. Actually, I have nothing against Eastern religions and have found much wisdom in them. But you know what I mean.

Just that we should use the terms properly, so that we can remove the confusion between the two.

Childish prattle. North Korea is officially known as the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea." Let's see...not democratic, not of the people, and not a republic.
If you want to call a country like France "socialist" for providing cradle-to-grave healthcare and taking half your paycheck to fund the welfare state, fine. Those are the countries for whom the term "socialist" is reserved. But France doesn't lock up dissidents or plot to invade Belgium.
China, meanwhile, is guilty of untold crimes against its own people, conducts information-warfare against the United States and its allies, and regularly threatens a nearby peaceful democratic nation (Taiwan) with invasion.
Same deal with the Soviets. (Crimes too numerous to mention.) It referred to the countries under its control as "SSR's" meaning "soviet socialist republic," but the USSR's Constitution recognized the Communist party as the only permitted one.
"Socialist" is too kind a word for a country like that. That's "communist." The two words are simply at different points along the same line.
Argue about semantics all you like. You can call China a "peace loving unicorn happy rainbow lollipop puppy-kiss" but it doesn't change anything.
