Obama Foreign Policy: Amateurishness, Wrapped in Naïveté, Inside Credulity

Posted by The MaryHunter at October 16, 2009 5:35 PM

Charles Krauthammer is never one to mince words. His undressing of Our Dear Leader's copious foreign policy failures captured the deep idiocy of this president, his advisers, and the whole liberal elitist gestalt. Like that whole Moscow-Poland-Czech Republic-Iran-missile-defense thing: sure, it was a clear capitulation to Moscow, but to what end? To win Russian influence over a bellicose Iran? Writes Krauthammer:

Surely we got something in return for selling out our friends. Some brilliant secret trade-off to get strong Russian support for stopping Iran from going nuclear before it's too late? Just wait and see, said administration officials, who then gleefully played up an oblique statement by President Dmitry Medvedev a week later as vindication of the missile defense betrayal.
The Russian statement was so equivocal that such a claim seemed a ridiculous stretch at the time. Well, Clinton went to Moscow this week to nail down the deal. What did she get?
"Russia Not Budging on Iran Sanctions; Clinton Unable to Sway Counterpart." Such was The Post headline's succinct summary of the debacle.

WTF?!?

Note how thoroughly Clinton was rebuffed. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared that "threats, sanctions and threats of pressure" are "counterproductive." Note: It's not just sanctions that are worse than useless, but even the threat of mere pressure.
It gets worse. Having failed to get any movement from the Russians, Clinton herself moved -- to accommodate the Russian position! Sanctions? What sanctions? "We are not at that point yet," she averred. "That is not a conclusion we have reached . . . it is our preference that Iran work with the international community.

Hey...

But wait a minute. Didn't Obama say in July that Iran had to show compliance by the G-20 summit in late September? And when that deadline passed, did he not then warn Iran that it would face "sanctions that have bite" and that it would have to take "a new course or face consequences"?
Gone with the wind. It's the United States that's now retreating from its already flimsy position of just three weeks ago. We're not doing sanctions now, you see. We're back to engagement. Just as the Russians suggest.

The Obamunist in Chief is, if nothing, a wee lacking of a certain fondness for America and her best interests.

It is unlikely that one president has done so much harm our great nation in so short a time in office. On the bright side, it was clearly enough for him to win a Nobel for sabotaging America.

When will this madness end? Speak up, America!

Oh my freakin' God. That is embarrassing beyond belief. That Krauthammer article is a must-read - place it in a time capsule and see how worse things get come 2012.

This is the "nuance" the Libs keep praising. Whenever I hear someone use that word, I want to knock them down and PISS on them!

"Russia Not Budging on Iran Sanctions; Clinton Unable to Sway Counterpart."

The Russians laugh at Obama. They laughed to his face and behind his back when he visited Putin. They have absolutely no respect for Obama and thanks to that, no respect for America.

Obama is a dismal failure at foreign policy, good lord, he thinks Joe Biden is insightful.

Obama has given the Russian military access to our nuclear sites under an extension of S.T.A.R.T. I assume that is an effort to get some resiprical good will for help with Iran. Fail.

In a twisted circumstance, here come the ChiComs:http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.b2e1961b55d6773018513c4bd51816bb.581&show_article=1#

Can you imagine the day when the ChiComs become our allies? The Chinese have too much invested in America, I mean where will they get their R&D for missile systems? They cannot allow America to be taken down by the Russians. The ChiComs will be happy with an alliance, all we need to do is give up Taiwan.

Dare I say it? I think Obama may be even weaker than Jimmy Carter. God help us.

To use the term 'amature' in the context of this Administration's capability, elevates the perception of the incapability of this Administration to imply that they even understand international realtions, let alone are positivly influencing them.

To add insult to injury, don't forget that the White Water Queen runs the Dept of State....

Kinda says it all, no?

@ Judith M. - Please don't insult the incompetence of Jimma Carter by comparing the O to him.

We need not be mean and drag down Carter's already very bottom of the pile accomplishments by comparing him to the O.

The O is far less competent.

Now that Eric Holder has given us the precedent of prosecutions based on politics(CIA Agents), things could turn out to be verrrry interesting for Obama and Co. when they're out of office. This administration has done enough in nine months to keep an entire wing of the DoJ busy for years.
So, in the words of an unknown philosopher, "what goes around, comes around". And, of course, the lefties will not scream even once about, "they were just doing their jobs as they saw fit", will they?

Eric Holder is a delicious piece of man meat! Mmmm!

"Aquatarkus at October 18, 2009 12:09 AM"

Ban this jerk!

Aquadipstick is just showing the world that he/she is a COW, just like his American Idol, Earbama. By displaying a little love for the racist in charge of the DoJ, he shows everyone that he has no grasp of anything.

Those idiots who gave OBAMA the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE deserve to be sent to the SPICEMINES OF KESSEL for the rest of their lives
