Obama Administration Practicing... Propaganda?

Posted by The MaryHunter at October 21, 2009 8:33 PM

Sen. Charles Grassley is a tad concerned that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius might be using federal funds to propagandize about ObamaCare:

Grassley points to the "state your support for health care reform this year" button featured on the HHS home page. Visitors can send an e-mail to President Obama praising his health care reform plan.
Grassley warns: "Any possible misuses of appropriated funds by the executive branch to engage in publicity or propaganda in support of an administration priority is a matter that must be taken seriously." He references House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's argument in 2005 that the use of official funds for similar activities were "underhanded tactics" that "are not worthy of our great democracy."

As if basically owning the media wasn't already enough for the Obamunists, now taxpayers have to pitch in even more for the ObamaCare pitch. Ask yourself: would Goebbels be proud enough?

Separated at birth?

Goebbels would be proud if they kill 6 million conservatives.

How about Moonbattery Practicing...Propaganda?

What else can you conclude about a site that exists to name call the opposition?

Obviously rational debate is not a consideration. All the usual posters here care about is attacking anyone and any organization to the left of center/right. To the far right, center/right = left.

I find it rather boggling that the right who, during Bush's tenure, declared that attacking the President during wartime was dishonoring our troops, NOW feel that it is perfectly legitimate to attack the President during wartime.

Consistency is not a strong point with the right.

How about Lao practicing... Reading Comprehension?

When Moonbattery.com starts being paid for by taxpayers, Lao may actually have a leg to stand on with this argument.

Pulling one's head out of one's ass long enough to pay attention is not a strong point with the left.

You mean to tell me no one from hollyweird is making proepganda about their beloved emporer I mean you thing that OLLIE STONED,MICHEAL MORON,MARTIN SCARDIE, or some hollyweird wacko would jump at a chance to lionize their buddy obama

No, not seperated at birth. He had a sex change and lots of plastic surgery. He is now a she and works for the Administration.

Hey, we reused the German Rocket Scientists, why not the Propaganda Scientists......

Obviously rational debate is not a consideration.

Oh, that is rich coming from you, Lao. You've made no attempt here at "rational debate." Instead, you've been the very model of a sneering, insulting leftist. It's like being lectured on moderation and decorum by Lindsey Lohan.

AMATEURS! Do not associate these kinder-garden level actions with the glorious achievements of the National Socialists Party.

"Practicing"? No need to practice, theyve gotten quite good at it.

Posted by: Mousey Tongue at October 22, 2009 4:35 AM

Mao Lao is a piece of work. Comparing Moonbattery.com to the Federal Government. Mao is too far gone when that becomes the basis for an argument supporting the Neo-Marxists running the Federal Government.

"It's like being lectured on moderation and decorum by Lindsey Lohan."

LOL! That's why I come to Moonbattery! Thanks for the chuckle, Otto.

And Lao, is there some sort of new left-wing strategy that aims to suck all the life out of conservative sites that CLEARLY not intended to represent hard news sites? One or two examples of this wet-blanketism might be a coincidence, but it seems to be becoming more and more pervasive amongst lefty posters. I guess it just goes to show that nothing is more subversive to the leftist mind than a good sense of humor.

Don't I know it, Judith. They don't seem to realize that this particular website is about 20% or so something to laugh at. Everytime something funny is posted, they say "Don't you have anything better to do?" Damn clucking nannies. Listen up trolls: THIS IS NOT YOUR WEBSITE.

Posted by: Karin at October 22, 2009 5:34 AM

Lao is shocked... SHOCKED... to learn that a website devoted to right-wing opinions is expressing right-wing opinions.

What a maroon? Is this the best the left can do?

Posted by: V the K at October 22, 2009 5:38 AM

Whatever happened to Separation of Powers? The Administration is propagandizing on national TV, telling Congress how to vote.

What's next? Those two "separate" but equal branches of government telling the Supreme Court how to vote?

One key difference, Goebbels' propoganda was pro German, this regime's is anti-American.

Posted by: JustAl at October 22, 2009 7:42 AM

Lao, The best they've got. Troll.
How many of these fools are going to kill their children and then suicide because their name will forever be associated with the regime?
How many will name the kids all starting with B or O in honor of "the one"?
6 million was the Jews only. It was between 20-25 million. Including political dissedents.
homosexuals and "life, unworthy of life." Read retarded and usless eaters.
So much to look forward to.

Firstly, since "propaganda" is the topic, you should all be aware that my name is being regularly highjacked, even to the point where "Lao" is appearing on threads that I have not touched. The regulars here know my style, so if "Lao" says something that feels out of tune, it probably is. I notice this is being done to other left-leaning posters as well.

I could easily reciprocate, highjack names and parody some of the regulars here, but I prefer discussion.

I find this name highjacking very interesting since the obvious motivation is to discredit me and shut me up. It seems that those doing it don't have the ability to use a reasoned argument against the points I raise.

I have been stopped in my tracks more than once here, when somebody raised a side of an issue I had not considered. While some on the right might gloat that they had "won" that round, I always find it particularly illuminating. I have never claimed that I have all the answers.

Back to this thread. At first look, government propaganda would rate higher than mainstream media propaganda which rates higher than website propaganda. But, the essense of propaganda is reach. The media is particularly powerful because of the numbers they can reach.

Concern over the government propaganda cited in this thread is particularly lame. Who, among the general public, besides those already on side, are going to the Health and Human Services website anyhow? A button supporting health care is not a particularly potent example of government propaganda.

I called Moonbattery on their propaganda because I find the brand of propaganda practiced here to be particularly dangerous. I used to hang out on the Fox forums before they were gutted. Over there, people posting in what is the regular Moonbattery style (lots of personal attacks) were regarded as the fringe and generally ignored. I had long and detailed debates with people on the right and ended up learning a lot as a result because their pointed questions forced me to learn more background to back up my beliefs.

I call Moonbattery's propaganda dangerous because when you turn the oppostion into "the other" it is not a very big step beyond that for a lone wolf to decide to act. We have seen that already and, I expect, we will see it again. I usually call out posters who espouse violence and it bothers me that right-leaning posters here do not do the same. Violence among our people is not an option that will solve our political differences.

When you name-call other posters, or Obama, or liberals, or use creative names for the health care package or apply extreme and loaded, labels like "terrorist", "fascist", "nazi" and "socialist" to people or parties, it has one purpose, and one purpose only. To diminish the person, thing or group you have labelled so that they do not require serious consideration. They have become alien and the enemy in your eyes.

Thus minimized, actual "thinking" or constructive criticism of people and policies, on the part of those doing the name calling, can be avoided.

So, I come full circle. Some here choose to call me names because they are unable to think critically and form a counter argument that backs up their own beliefs.

Mao,

I've been reading this site and the comments for a long time. One of the best things going is the hijacker who keeps getting your panties in a wad. While it is hard to parody a humorless leftie, I find it damn funny each and every time.

And it must just kill you to see it as you just devoted 12 paragraphs to railing against it.

Whoever is doing it, keep it up. It is working.

Posted by: Richard C. at October 22, 2009 9:33 AM

Mao, isn't it embarrassing to admit that the parodies of your comments are indistinguishable from your actual comments?

Posted by: V the K at October 22, 2009 10:42 AM

Nope, because they are quite distinguishable.

Here V the K. respond to this, if you can.

I find it rather boggling that the right who, during Bush's tenure, declared that attacking the President during wartime was dishonoring our troops, NOW feel that it is perfectly legitimate to attack the President during wartime.

Consistency is not a strong point with the right.

"Richard C. at October 22, 2009 9:33 AM"

Are you the IDIOT who "hijacks" names? If so, STOP IT! The Liberals can make fools of themselves, they don't need your "help".

Posted by: KHarn at October 22, 2009 2:50 PM

KHarn,

I said, "Whoever is doing it, keep it up. It is working."

This would indicate to most that I am not, and do not know who is, doing it.

Take a pamprin.
