Morning Briefs: Stuff You May Have Read Somewhere Else

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at October 15, 2009 12:36 AM

Good Morning Campers, today is all good news. BTW, did you all catch South Park ripping on ACORN last night? (Moderate language warning, otherwise, I'd've posted the clip)

Item Number One: Benedict Arlen Specter is a dead man walking. Polls show not only will he almost certainly lose next November, he probably won't even survive a primary challenge. Good Riddance to bad rubbish.

Item Number Two: The Wall Street Journal now has the largest newspaper circulation in the United States, as USA Today drops to second. This is almost as sweet as Greg Gutfeld at 3 am beating CNN's primetime line-up. Simple economics, really. The audience for uncritical repetition of Democrat talking points is only so big and can only be divided so many ways. When there is only one network alternative, and only one newspaper alternative, that's where people who don't want to hear unfiltered, one-sided Democrat propaganda will go.

On a related note, USA Today noted that Democrats now dominate the very richest and very poorest US congressional districts, while the Republicans represent the middle class. (J noted this on the Open Thread)

Item Number Three: The giant, evil, oil companies are considering the construction of massive ships --- six times larger than Nimitz-class supercarriers --- for the purpose of sucking Gaia's precious hydocarbons from under the oceans, where then they can be burned by humans to kill polar bears and other living things. Bwah-haha-haha! The only thing that could make this better is if they could bring Joseph Hazelwood out of retirement to captain one of them.

Or Dick Cheney.

This should show Gaia who the man is around here.

Are you suggesting that we should just tell the environment to go [intercourse] itself? How dare you mock Gaia!

Think very carefully before answering that question. There is no room for humor on the environmental left. Call me a wahmbulance!

“When there is only one network alternative, and only one newspaper alternative, that's where people who don't want to hear unfiltered, one-sided Democrat propaganda will go”

Well that's a bit a bit [bleeping] rich, website dedicated to hysterical right-wing table-thumping rhetoric (which I am too stupid to distinguish from major networks claiming to be news organizations)

Posted by: Anonymous Whinerbat at October 15, 2009 1:19 AM

Posted by: Anonymous Whinerbat at October 15, 2009 1:16 AM- "Are you suggesting that we should just tell the environment to go fuck itself?"

No. Just you.

Posted by: Anonymous Whinerbat at October 15, 2009 1:16 AM- "Think very carefully before answering that question."

Ok....... No. Go f*** yourself.

Posted by: chairman soetoro's oprichniki at October 15, 2009 1:28 AM

Whinerbat, what don't you get about the essential nature of having competing voices in the marketplace of ideas? Gad! This is how totalitarianism starts, with people that have such thin skins and such weak positions that they can't even tolerate an opinion different from the "official line"TM, being voiced (which if you're too stupid to figure it out does not include the people at Moonbattery, since they indulge nitwits like yourself regularly).

Posted by: Judith M. at October 15, 2009 2:07 AM

Did anyone besides whinerbat think my remarks about polar bears and Hazelwood were in any way serious?

Meanwhile, when leftists try to be funny, it's either through death fantasies like Chris Matthews wanting to blow up Rush Limbaugh's head, or Keith Olbermann calling Michelle Malkin, "big mashed up bag of meat with lipstick?" or David Letterman making rape jokes about Sarah Palin's daughters?

Isn't it funny how right-wingers make fun of leftists by mocking their silly beliefs? While the leftist idea of "humor" is rooted in violence and crude insults?

Posted by: Gregory of Yardale at October 15, 2009 2:16 AM

Leftists really are degraded, aren't they, Gregory? I attribute a large part of their lack of wit to their emotionalism. I don't think they ever pause between the stimulus that evokes a reaction in their gut and the expression of that reaction to ask themselves "Does this sound reasonable?" I mean, calling Michelle Malkin a "big mashed up bag of meat with lipstick" is just plain stream-of-consciousness weirdness.

Posted by: Judith M. at October 15, 2009 2:51 AM

Again, that's a bit [EXPLETIVE] rich to describe leftists as being ‘humourless’.
I can't remember seeing Bill O'Reilly smile over something that wasn't quite twatty, though I can't cite any examples and that Glenn Beck, he's just insane, isn't he? He doesn't even believe Obama is the greatest man ever to walk the Earth. How crazy is that?

People at either end of the political spectrum are generally humourless, it's their nature.
They only think in cold facts and rhetoric, which don't allow for them to show their sense of enjoyment, unless of course they're attacking the other side by calling Michelle Malkin a “big mashed up bag of meat with lipstick” and making rape jokes about Sarah Palin's daughters.

Posted by: Anonymous Whinerbat at October 15, 2009 3:07 AM

By the way, my first comment was supposed to be sarcastic, I was joking, so don't lecture me about being humourless, asswipe, because I am as incapable of accepting criticism as I am at expressing myself without potty language.

"Also stop retroactively altering my comments" said the witless Brit wanker from Somerset who posts anonymous insults.

If you want to believe this site is fair and balanced, which no one has claimed, you have to accept that not everyone is going to agree with you and those who don't are going post profane anonymous comments because they're pussies like that.

If you want to believe this site is fair and balanced, you have to accept that not everyone is going to agree with you.

What makes you think this site is fair and balanced?

Posted by: Evil Otto at October 15, 2009 3:15 AM

Aqua, why do you bother posting under anonymous when you use words like twatty that give you away? It's not like Aquatarkus is even your real name...or is it?

Posted by: Judith M. at October 15, 2009 4:13 AM

Umm, isn't Anonymous Whinerbat being sarcastic, like doing a parody of a moonbat? Read carefully. Look at how he named himself.

Anyway, to quote from above: "uncritical repetition of Democrat talking points..." Can you think of anything more boring? And Greg is right. There's the pie, it's undifferentiated in any way. Divide that pie up, and it's small wedges all around. Even the DUmp was discussing one day why Air America is a failure. "It's boring" is what even those moonbats said.

Posted by: Karin at October 15, 2009 5:22 AM

Actually, Karin, it was originally just "Anonymous." I changed it to "Anonymous Whinerbat" after reading chairman soetero's reply. And the italicized portions of his comments are my edits.

I just don't think those who post anonymously deserve any sort of respect.

Good point.
Fuck this site.

Posted by: Aquatarkus at October 15, 2009 6:00 AM

What's bother making jokes about Gaia?
Nobody thinks they're funny. Make jokes about raping Sarah Palin instead.

Posted by: Aquatarkus at October 15, 2009 6:05 AM

Item 3:
This has some actual great side effects. For one, in international waters the eco-nuts can't get at them with endless lawsuits. The International Court has no navy to enforce anything, and you could hire your own private navy to blow 'em out of the water if they did show up. (Hey Spain, want to see a few dozen more of your ships on the bottom of the Carribean?)

In the case of hurricanes, they just up anchor and sail to safe haven.

Seems reasonable. [and... screw the Polar Bears]

I just don't think those who post anonymously deserve any sort of respect.

From one of the conservatives posting anonymously: Get over yourself, because a screen name is fundamentally no different than posting as "anonymous." Also, I wonder what is really served by such frequent editing (four in this thread alone) of posts. The raving moonbats on this site don't need any help looking stupid.

Back on topic, I will proudly vote for Pat Toomey when the primaries come around. We have not had anything even resembling conservative representation since Santorum was outsed.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 6:12 AM

I mean, for crying out loud, we traded Rick Santorum, who had the President's ear from time to time, for job-hopping Bob lets-keep-funding-ACORN Casey...

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 6:19 AM

because a screen name is fundamentally no different than posting as "anonymous."

Not true. Any number of people can post anonymously. And when there are four or five people posting anonymously, only someone with the ability to check IP addresses can distinguish them. Taking a screen name is taking ownership of your remarks, even if the name is not your own.

How this for a remark?

I'm a cockmuncher.

If you edit this, that just amplifies my level of cockmunching.

Stop being a lying bastard and trying to make yourself look like you aren't just a loser getting revenge on other losers.

I think aquaboy just soiled his underroos.

Where did the name Farmer Ted come from?
Are you really a farmer named Ted, or what?

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 7:42 AM

You motherfucker....

Posted by: Aquatarkus at October 15, 2009 7:43 AM

Taking a screen name is taking ownership of your remarks, even if the name is not your own.

This has to be ripped right from a politico speechbook. Let's build a bridge to the challenges of the 21st century too. Your blog's about page was not very informative, so you may as well post as Captain Picard or Wheeljack.

Look, I understand not putting the personal information out there. I work for a limousine liberal who's looking for excuses to cut more jobs. That's why anonymity is important, despite its abuse.

Sorry for dragging this off topic though.

Back on topic, I've been toying around with subscribing the the WSJ since my local newspaper's gone even further in the tank for Obama and big government. They're in so much trouble that they were offering me half off to renew. Does anyone here just get the print edition or is online a must-have?

Posted by: Anonymous at October 15, 2009 7:53 AM

Aquaboy I could tell you where the name comes from but then I'd have to kill you.

Posted by: Farmer Ted at October 15, 2009 8:32 AM

Fuck this site.

Posted by: Aquatarkus at October 15, 2009 6:00 AM

Then why are you here? Srsly?

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Posted by: Nunya at October 15, 2009 8:35 AM

Don't let the door hit you were the good lord split you......Aquatard.

As an Atheist, I find that statement offensive.

I prefer the print edition as I tend to get lost following links on the online one. But I'm a bit retarded when it comes to news web sites so that might not be a representative view. I believe wsj.com is generally thought to be among the best newspaper web sites.
