The IOC announced Chicago as a 2016 finalist in June 2008, while the oh-so-hated Bush was STILL PRESIDENT. Maybe a senator from Illinois (even if he was selected and not elected) should have known that before he shot off his mouth.

As for the IOC - they are even more corrupt than Chi-Town. Everyone knows that they vote based on how much personal wealth and other incentives are in it for each memeber personally.

It had nothing to do with Bush. They are actually still pissed that Romney went into Salt Lake and pissed in their rice boals of kickbacks.

They also know how greedy and corrupt the Daily/Obama/(insert any Democrat elected official) coalition are, and they, the IOC, did not want to compete with Chi-Town greed, and dilute their own personal gains.

Bride of Obama, and Obama himself sealed the deal that if they were at the IOC vote personally, then they were the ones who were going to $$$ benifit, not the OIC memebers. It is exactly the UN model, but each voting OIC member gets 100x the payola than an adverage igornant UN official.

The IOC went to a third-world country that would make sure that the mistake of Salt Lake, and what is currently happening with the cost overruns in Vancouver, did not happen in 2016.

John Kass, the brilliant columnist for the Chicago Tribune, explains why Chicago did not get the Olympics. He tells the story of a t-shirt he saw. It says Chicago 2016 on the front, and Terre Haute 2020 on the back.

To those of us not from Chicago, the joke is not immediately clear. So Kass enlightens the uninformed:

As every Chicago politician knows, Terre Haute, Ind., is home to a federal prison. That's where a few would be tossed after boodling their way to Olympic fortunes. And why 2020? That's how long it would take for grand juries to do their work.

Look anonynumbnuts, what conservatives are doing is another, "I told ya so." This clown in the White House is a complete amateur a la Jimmy Epic Fail Carter.

A properly savy politician would never have gone to the IOC to beg. Instead he would have given an impromptu press statement declaring his undying support for Chicago and the offer of all the resources of the office of the President to help them in their pursuit of the Olympics. He would have dispatched a small special squad to wave the flag (and pay the bribes).

On a triumph he would have congratulated Chicago and (bashfully) hope that his help and support made it possible. On a fail, he would have said how sad and how he wished the helpers had been more successful (implying their failure, not his). Duh!

But then that would require skill, knowledge, and ability - not celebrity.

We on the Right have long enjoyed a good joke about the next thing the "Liberals" will blame on Bush. The joke never loses its punch, because the Left never stops with their stupid tantrums about Bush; they haven't even gotten over Reagan yet!?!

Obama and Burris don't have to make an effort to do this- all their lives, they have been led (Obama by his own Mom)to blame "Whites/Conservatives/Christian males/Republicans" for every ill in the world. It's all they know- just their natural, knee-jerk response.

The interesting thing psychologically is that liberals need to be the underdogs, the oppressed, the outsides, struggling against "The Man," even when they are The Man.

They simply can't cope with the idea of being in charge, and being responsible for what they do in charge. They're so used to bitching about what the grownups are doing, that they're now unnerved by this reversal of fortune.
