How Did Obama Miss This One?

The reason Judge Herman Thomas was not on the shortlist for the SCOTUS must have been that The One determined that Souter's seat must go to a woman. Aside from that, his credentials were impeccable (for an Obama appointee).
The respected circuit judge once was the Democratic Party's choice to be the first black federal judge in south Alabama.
Then his career collapsed under allegations that he brought inmates to his office and spanked them with a paddle. Later, an indictment accused him of sexually abusing male inmates in exchange for leniency. The trial on charges of sodomy, kidnapping, sex abuse, extortion, assault and ethics violations is set to start Monday.
Forget the Supreme Court, with a record like that, he should have been a shoo-in for 'Safe Schools Czar.' But there's still a shot at Justice Stevens seat if Thomas can manage to commit tax evasion before the end of Obama's term. Also, there are other positions in the administration for which the judge is eminently qualified. I wonder if the White House is looking for a "Spanking Czar."

I thought the same thing when I saw this. Then it occurred to me, maybe he is innocent making him ineligible.

Obviously this individual is being reserved for the lead position on the gitmo torture investigation panel. He's the most ballsy person they can find to try and corner Dick-the-Cheney.

I think that were all speaking too soon. There are still plenty of seats near Obama's throne of lies to be filled. Expect to see this guy advising Obama shortly.

That's by liberal standards.
Maybe just a little PC to cover up the fact that when trying to affirmative-action-up a Democrat for the federal judiciary, there is some awful slim pickin's.
