Gallup: Chairman Obamao's Approval Ratings in Historic Nosedive

Posted by Van Helsing at October 22, 2009 12:10 PM

The Anointed One's presidency is historic, all right. Check out the historic dive in his approval ratings, as the liberal media hype wears off and the reality of what has been allowed into the White House begins to set in:

In Gallup Daily tracking that spans Barack Obama's third quarter in office (July 20 through Oct. 19), the president averaged a 53% job approval rating. That is down sharply from his prior quarterly averages, which were both above 60%.
In fact, the 9-point drop in the most recent quarter is the largest Gallup has ever measured for an elected president between the second and third quarters of his term, dating back to 1953.

If you own stock in Obamania, sell while you can.

What's hyped up, must come down.

Come 2010 a collective sigh of relief will sweep America, rendering Obama to nothing but a travelling apologist. Come 2012, he'll be replaced in one huge landslide victory.

Expressing "disapproval" in a poll does not mean I intend to vote for the other party. It can actually be a good political tactic to goad the party you support into acting more quickly or forcefully. The only polls that matter are the elections, and they are a long way off.

Come 2010 a collective sigh of relief will sweep America, rendering Obama to nothing but a travelling apologist. Come 2012, he'll be replaced in one huge landslide victory.

Don't count your blessings yet. There is still much work to be done.

The political landscape is changing, but right now, the winds of change are blowing in favor of RINOs, internationalists, and supposedly "moderate" Dems who can always be bought off with pork.

The GOP has failed to articulate conservativism and make a stand on principle. Even if they did an about face today, and began standing up for the principles upon which this country was founded, it will still require several election cycles for them to regain the trust of the American public as a voice of conservativism.

Raw anger is not enough to win in 2010. Between Palin, the tea parties, the 9/12 project, the upswing in right-leaning Internet sites, and every other response to the growth of government, the polls in 2010 will be full of anger. This anger comes from real conservatives to the right of center. The GOP will put forth supposedly "conservative" candidates, who will receive party line votes and other support from the Republican legacy. The various movements will put forth independents who believe in true conservativism, who will receive record numbers of votes from informed citizens who believe in liberty.

The Democrats will receive the votes they always have, from statists, moonbats, those dependent on government, and others who have a vested interest in seeing it grow.

The result: Dems win again, because the conservative voice is split. Obama gets a second term, is at the height of his career, and now has nothing to restrain his ultra-left agenda. A liberal Congress, seeing an emboldened president, will actively work to implement the statist agenda, knowing that, once installed, machine politics will prevent the traitors from being removed.

This doesn't mean that the voice of America is behind the Dems, it only means that we have a flawed election system which favors the candidate with a plurality of votes, instead of requiring that whomever takes power enjoy support from a majority of the citizens. Third parties never work well in any system operating on simple pluralities - they only become viable with runoff voting, or some of the hypothetical systems never used in practice.

If this scenario scares you, as it should, then take some of the anger and outrage and direct it into constructively building conservative coalitions to win at the polls, rather than go to the polls to cast angry ballots and prove a point. We need to change the GOP from within, rather than casting it aside and running a slew of independents each taking votes away from the others.

It would be wise to start working at the local level to put libertarians, constitutionalists, and patriots on the GOP ticket, unless you happen to be in one of the rare areas that a conservative independent can beat both R's and D's.

2010 will be another loss unless we stop the RINOs.

Too bad liberals bust your beloved OBAMASES is losing his support and he hasnt been in for a full year yet HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

Posted by: Spurwing Plover at October 22, 2009 12:51 PM

I'm not at all sure about 2010.
If the electorate puts in the kind of invertebrate republicans that now crawl around congress, it can get worse.

BO has the moonbats, unions, blacks, Jews and Hispanics wrapped up no matter what, so he is automatically ahead in votes. Republicans always have to work against the numbers in any event. So if newly appointed republicans come in in 2010 and try to appease house democrats and pass destructive or at best unhelpful "bipartisan" policies, the republican vote could split up in 2012.
Imagine John McCain getting into the 2012 elections. A confluence of such factors would insure another 4 years of BO (assuming we still have a Constitution left).

A 2010 republican victory without engaged and conservative republicans may very well lead to more hope-less change.

While I disagree that he has the Jews in his pocket, Barry the Obamanation does have the far-left Kool Aid drinkers far up his butt. He really doesn't care about his overall popularity numbers, as long as the bamabots are still singing the "Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm" song.

Everything Komander Zero has done in the past month or so has been intended to feed red meat to the bots. His attacks against the Republicans; against Fox News, and against the "vast right-wing conspiracy," have been for the purpose of energizing the moonbats. He has to feed the vampires blood so they don't die-off on him.

He can't task more troops in Afghanistan, nor can he slack off on the socialized health care. Those things would be contrary to the deep-seated desires of the people who continue to follow their messiah like the lemings they are. He HAS to keep faith with the loony left or risk losing the slim 51% of his voters, and the corrupt vote-counters he must have on his side in 2012.

I think he's given up on the McLame voters and has never believed the conservatives were going to vote for him even by accident. This guy's an arrogant egotistical crook that brought the Al Capone Chicago Machine to our nation's capitol. He couldn't care less what you think.

Well what the fuck did Jesus W. Bush achieve that was so brilliant that it managed to win him a second term?

Apart from spending his first year on holiday, waging an essentially illegal war and just generally being braindead chimp-man?

You guys fielded John Kerry, a Massachusetts liberal who was out of touch with America.

Posted by: Anonymous Countermoonbat at October 22, 2009 1:52 PM

Uh...defended this country from further terrorist attacks after we got cheap-shotted? Granted, Bush didn't show off his pecs at the beach or anything equally important, but that is something. And, at least, he knew how many states there were.

And I'd feather the chimp remarks. Obama with those ears looks much more like a chimp than Bush ever did. Admit it - a photo of him eating a banana would bring down the house. And Michelle, for her part, looks like she should have been riding a horse and throwing a net over Charlton Heston. So ixnay on the chimp business.

AC - great insights.

It's exactly what I fear - a weakened Obama/Democratic party that can STILL beat the divided house of Republican party versus the libertarians/conservatives.

I'm enjoying the daily slow death by poll of Obama as much as anyone else. But those polls won't stop health care 'reform', might but might not stop cap and trade, and won't stop Obama winning a 2nd term UNLESS there's a winnable candidate opposing him.

It's really a befuddling conundrum. Those watching Glen Beck and Sean Hannity do not constitute a majority. I'd say more like 20 %. Another 31 % is needed. The middle must be brought on board. I don't know how to do that. Obviously the RNC doesn't either. The problem is that the statists constitute a rock-solid impermeable core of, let's say, 35 % of the population. All they need to win is a chunk of the middle.

The only answer as I see it is to get every single existing Republican "candidate" off the table, find some new people, and hope that one can satisfy the Beckians and the independents both. Maybe that's Petraus, maybe someone nobody's thought of. I am 99 % sure, though, that the following people cannot beat Obama: Huckabee, Palin, Romney, etc. They are all yesterday's news. None of them can satisfy both the yearning of pissed-off libertarians like me as well as the self-absorbed need for "pragmatic" "common sense" of the befuddled independents. Time to wipe the slate clean and start all over.

Meanwhile, the polls are fun to watch. When Gallup drops sub 50 in a few days or weeks, that'll be really fun. That'll be a media discussion meme.

"Those watching Glen Beck and Sean Hannity do not constitute a majority. I'd say more like 20 %. Another 31 % is needed. The middle must be brought on board. I don't know how to do that."

Well duh, you have to toss Beck and Hannity under the bus for starters.

Posted by: Anonymous at October 22, 2009 5:05 PM

Easy way to bring the middle on board: wait. The Dems control everything, but that also means they're responsible for everything. They're already looking like Laurel and Hardy trying to paint out of the same bucket.

Beck is doing yeoman's work exposing the left's incompetence, corruption, and treachery, while the rest of the media focus on fellating the Messiah. Someday - someday soon - they'll be mortified by their complicity in this train wreck.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at October 22, 2009 5:28 PM

Btw, for our resident Reds, please note: Carter was swept into office on the same kind of basis (hope! change!), won by more than Obama, and had higher approval ratings on taking office than Obama, and did not slide southward as quickly as Obama. And yet thinking people now consider Carter as the worst President of the 20th century.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at October 22, 2009 5:31 PM

If the annoying whine says we have to "toss Beck and Hannity", must be someone on DU, Kos, or MoveOn is getting rattled. That's where it gets it's talking points.
Mega, how about General(ret) Pete Pace? I totally agree with you on Huckabee, Palin, Romney. I have nothing against any of them, I did think that Huck was unelectable last time, ditto for Romney, and Palin isn't without problems.

Posted by: UpNorth at October 22, 2009 5:39 PM

"Those watching Glen Beck and Sean Hannity do not constitute a majority. I'd say more like 20 %. Another 31 % is needed. The middle must be brought on board. I don't know how to do that."

Beck and Hannity give you 20%...sweet!! You need 31% more for a majority but you don't have them and don't know how to get them.

By my calculations that means you are acknowledging that Obama can get 80%. No wonder hardly anybody is posting, they all must be out drinking themselves into oblivion. I think I'll have a celebratory drink myself. LOL!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous at October 22, 2009 6:04 PM

Easy way to bring the middle on board: wait. The Dems control everything, but that also means they're responsible for everything. They're already looking like Laurel and Hardy trying to paint out of the same bucket.

As Chicago has proven time and time again, corruption and incompetence can be in the open, but voters won't rally against it if they have become dependent on welfare and pork.

Come 2010, the liberals will portray Republican victories as being dangerous to the lifestyle of middle America, and countless politically-naive voters will drink the Kool-Aid and keep voting for the corruption out of fear that loss of a Federal entitlement will crimp their consumer lifestyle.

The health care fight will have come to some conclusion by then. The next two bogeymen are jobs and the cost of college. If Dems can link continued control with the ability to find a pork-funded job or attend college on Federal dollars, then naive voters will keep voting for the corruption.

This has been going on in Chicago for decades. The only way to stop it is to educate the naive voting public and clearly articulate the benefits of conservative solutions instead of easy handouts.

Posted by: Anonymous Countermoonbat at October 22, 2009 6:06 PM

You need 31% more for a majority but you don't have them and don't know how to get them.

Then you and CPUSA have nothing to worry about. And yet...you're here.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at October 22, 2009 6:12 PM

That's right, we are. It's amusing. Best of luck in finding that 31%.

Excellent comments all. It's good to see a spirited debate.
My take on it? After healthcare is passed (IF), The supreme court will judge it to be unconstitutional due to the forcing of American citizens to pay for citizenship. (or God forbid another terrorist attack, or failure in Afg/Irq)

I think Jay had it closest, with the Carter 2.0 (not taking into account the new age)

I know I'll never vote for a fascist like Obama.

Aquatarkus, you've got the IQ of a swim fin.

In case you haven't caught on yet, bashing Bush no longer frames you as an "intellectual," it just makes you look stupid and desperate.

Why don't you put your energies into defending Obama instead of bitching about the past? Oh, that's right, Barry's riding the Fail Train to Hell, and you can't. Too bad :{

Posted by: all american beaner at October 22, 2009 7:39 PM

Why do you actively want the president to fail?
Because you're a bunch of immature cunts, maybe?

You say he's failing, but you haven't exactly gone out of your way to help make his first year any easier, have you?
You bitched at every possible opportunity, making it impossible for him to get anywhere with the public.

You'll only be happy if there's a Republican president in the White House, but if the president had to be a Republican, that would completely destroy the idea of America being this great democracy.
Instead, it be would be a one-party state, and you've tried so hard to prevent such things from existing.
