Flu Crisis Fizzles
Posted by Van Helsing at October 26, 2009 9:47 AM
The latest crisis our rulers are taking care not to waste is the swine flu epidemic, which the hype would lead us to believe might bring about the extinction of the human race. Comrade Obama has declared a national emergency. But despite all the hyperinflated urgency, Dear Reader's own daughters aren't getting vaccinated, and H1N1 has already peaked.
Flu is like snow. When its season comes around, the media acts like it has never happened before, and surely will end life as we know it. In actuality, 36,000 Americans die of flu every year. Next, Chairman Zero will declare a national emergency because autumn leaves are clogging up gutters.
Here's an idea for those who don't want to catch the flu this year: don't stand in a cold rain all day waiting for the government to give you free vaccine, like these folks in Chicago:

…or these in Oakland County, Michigan:

If the flu really were a national emergency, our rulers would be hard pressed to explained why the Abortion Queen is giving away flu vaccine to foreign countries before American demand has been met:
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told CNSNews.com Wednesday that one in 10 doses of the swine-flu vaccine purchased by the U.S. will be donated to other nations before the U.S. demand for the vaccine is filled.
There is a crisis brewing. But when it hits full force, the flu will be a pretext at most.
If flu season can generate this kind of hysteria, imagine what a wonderful crisis Obama et al. will have to work with once their Cloward-Piven economic policy makes our money worthless.

Hey! What's up? These blogs aren't very funny any more. In fact, they're getting downright seriously scary.
Is this just a Halloween trend, or are we about to bend over and kiss our asses good-bye?

Amen!

Xander clouds are more menacing than H1N1.

While the death count from HIN1 or seasonal flu is a nightly feature on the news, they don't bother to mention how many people have died from other causes during the same time period. All deaths are tragic, but this sensationalizing over the flu really creeps me out.
I did the seasonal flu shot--felt kinda tired and run down for a couple of days and a sore spot on my arm. My doctor recommends the H1N1 shot. but by the time the vaccinne arrives--it will probably be too late to be of much benefit.
If this delay and lack of an adequate supply of vacinne would have happened in George W's time, Odorman and Tingles would have been seething with anger.

Time for the revolt to start!!!!!
Don't you think?

There was just a short spot on Limbugh's show about how the Fed. Gov. has told doctors that all cases of flu have to be recorded as H1N1 regardless of what type they are. This is how the One is building the hype for his most recent crisis.

Got both the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines and feel just fine.
Get the H1N1 if you can get it, IMHO. This is just the second wave of the pandemic; the first being in the spring of this year. It may or may not get worse when the next wave hits in the spring of 2010.
Even if the virus mutates, you will still have some limited protection.

A couple of thoughts, did the government in Oakland Co. tell the folks that they'd also get the Obama checks with the shots?
And, according to HHS figures, 8,000 doses shipped daily, how many days to get vaccine to everyone who wants it? I think that the flu season will be long done by the time the vaccine is shipped. And that isn't taking into account the doses shipped to 0's BFF's.

You don't get colds from standing out in the rain. You might get one standing in line, but the rain is not a factor.

I am a cytologist and have degrees in human biology.
Having your body temperature lowered by standing in the rain and then going from a damp and cold environment to warm one can create an ideal breeding ground in the body for bacterial or viral infection(s). So rain IS a factor, genius.
Do a little serious research or take a class, HYG, before doing anymore of your pathetic nitpicking with your Bachelors in Google.

"I am a cytologist and have degrees in human biology."
And an occifer from our beloved U.S. Army, too!
D#MN!! Did your teachers, family and friends ever give you a hard time about being such an under-achiever, SK?

And it is my turn to be nit-picky and pretentious.
In colder weather, the mucosal lining of the respiratory tract and has difficulty in adjusting to such temperatures. This causes it to loose some protective capabilities.
The RT becomes inflamed and there is a loss of celiac movement and change in the mucosal viscosity causing torpidity which allows for the sustained presence and chance of infection due to it containing microorganism, debris, etc.

But in all seriousness, I am just a simple man.
As a theologian once said, "The tree, to grow upwards, must strike its roots downward; so man, to be exalted, must have his mind deep-rooted in humility."
Before the Lord, I am but dust and am using to best of my ability the gifts He saw fit to bless me with.

Six "rioters" against a platoon in riot gear. What a load of crap!
I went through a week of riot control training in the Air Force back in '76 and it was nothing like this. We were always told that we would be OUTNUMBERED and were to go in and seperate the leaders and professonal trouble-makers from those who were merely caught up in the madness. We were not trained to stand there and take it (although there might be a squad or two protecting some area), and instead used the square or wedge formation to get the idiots out of the area.
While we did have sticks, gas masks helmets and flack vests as in the video, we didn't have shields. There were also three riflemen with the M16/40mm combo (Or two shotgunners and an rifleman) to fire gas and shoot snipers who might have organized the riot to lure cops out. This would be a "revolution" senario.

Good job putting some perspective on this. I would add that the government’s record with vaccinations is checkered. There’s lots of material out there on that, but here’s one video done from a news channel that is worth watching-
http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/661.html
How is the new vaccine safer than the old one? Why is the government not forth coming about the risks of the swine flu vaccine?
Also, the focus should be elsewhere, as in natural VS chemicals. Even in the worst plagues that ever reached civilization, such as the bubolic in Europe in 1350 that killed off a third of the population, (nothing like this situation), but worth noting is that there were always a large number of people that were untouched.
Almost no focus is on that. Not much money in it is one suspected reason, but it’s too bad most people don’t learn the natural mechanisms that discourage illness and bring about better health. The ones that do have a serious advantage. (This written by a middle aged man who hasn’t had need of a doctor for decades- though I’m glad one was there when I broke my hand in 93 and I have nothing against them).

I think this swine flu thing is way over-rated. My issue is why does everything have to be free. I do not mind helping some people but the general population should be paying for their shots. We are creating a society of leaches.

Off to the FEMA Camps with any vaccine resisters!
Posted by: Tony at October 27, 2009 5:47 AM
there is a Gates of Vienna post that scientists question the virus classification of h1n1 and instead think this may be a tuberculosis outbreak.
Posted by: oldguy at October 27, 2009 5:59 AM
What really pisses me off is when I hear (on the LSM) that the shots are "free" because "the government is footing the bill". I guess the idiots don't realize TAXPAYERS are footing the bill..... as usual.
