Feds Prevent Sheriff Joe From Enforcing Immigration Law
Posted by Van Helsing at October 8, 2009 9:18 AM
There is a direct correlation between centralization and tyranny. That's why the Founding Fathers created a system that limits the power of the federal government in favor of local authority. It's also why the left-wing tyrants in Washington are going after Maricopa County, Arizona's heroic sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Sheriff Joe is famous for standing up to slimy liberal mollusks like Phoenix Mayor Fail Gordon and doing what is right by enforcing the law. This puts him in direct opposition to the Obamanation Administration, which sides aggressively with the drug-dealers, human traffickers, and other lowlife illegally pouring over our essentially unguarded border.
In a cruel joke, former Arizona Governor Janet "Crappy Nappy" Napolitano was put in charge of Homeland Security on the basis of her experience with the border — which she steadfastly refused to defend. Now she is using her frightening powers to target Arpaio for doing the job she refuses to do: keep our homeland secure. From the liberal comic book known as the East Valley Spittoon:
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has stripped Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio of his authority to arrest suspected illegal immigrants based solely on their immigration status.
But Arpaio said Tuesday he plans to continue his controversial "crime suppression operations," despite DHS's decision to not renew an agreement that would allow the sheriff to continue immigration enforcement on the streets.
"It's all politics," said Arpaio, who spent much of an afternoon news conference Tuesday wagging his finger, waving his arms and snarling at reporters.
Arpaio will have some immigration powers under an agreement signed Friday. His 60 detention officers in the county jails will still have the authority to check the immigration status of people they book.
But the agreement that would allow street patrols was signed Sept. 21 and then rescinded, and a top-level DHS official from the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs personally told him the federal agency wasn't going to accept the agreement, but he "didn't really give a good reason," Arpaio said.
The reason of course is that the more penniless, unskilled Mexicans colonize Arizona and get hooked on welfare, the sooner the Democrats can flip it to a blue state. That Phoenix is already the kidnapping capital of the country due to illegal alien activity is a price our distant rulers in DC and their lapdogs at the Spittoon are more than willing to pay.
However, Maricopa County supervisors have okayed the previously agreed-upon policy of letting Arpaio check the immigration status of people booked in jail. As Sheriff Joe says,
The ball is really in the court of ICE and Department of Homeland Security now. I don't think the public is going to be happy about these games that are being played.
Speaking of games, the Injustice Department under skeevy pro-terrorist cockroach Eric Holder is investigating Arpaio for "racial profiling" because many of the illegal aliens invading across the Mexican border are Mexican. Good thing for the Soviet Union Eric Holder wasn't Attorney General there during WWII; he would have forbidden resistance to the Nazi invasion on the grounds that it was racist against Germans.
By the way, DHS announces that 10% of our borders are under control, and that will suffice:
Eight years after the attacks of 9/11 and four years after the 9/11 Commission cited America's porous borders as a serious risk to national security, the Department of Homeland Security does not seem remotely concerned that it has just 894 miles of border "under effective control". That's 894 miles out of 8,607 miles of land and coastline that DHS is responsible for controlling.
What about the other 7,713 miles of land and sea borders? DHS doesn't seem too worried. Their stated goal for FY 2010 is to have the same 894 miles "under effective control" one year from now.
Coming soon: amnesty.
Never in our history have the interests of the federal government been so aggressively opposed to the interests of the American people. Either the scum in Washington is brought crashing down hard and soon, or our greatness is behind us. There will be plenty of Eric Holders and Janet Napolitanos, but no Joe Arpaios to be found.

Hat tips: Reaganite Republican, Family Security Matters. On tips from Bill T and Henry.

I am really sorry to hear that is all going in Arizona. We Californians view your state as one of the last remaining U.S. states and a symbol of founding strength and values.
When I've visited there I find Arizonans to be humble and hardworking. But the trait that I really noticed is that they slow down to think before they speak. The beauty of the land is matched by the wide public access to it; the complete opposite of my state, where you can get about ten feet into federal or state land before you find that the Sierra Club has come up with a reason to close it.

Yet they apparently consider the Tea Party demonstrators, regular citizens just voicing their opinions in a peaceful and legal way, to be dangerous terrorists who should be closely watched.
Something's wrong with this picture.

This is outragoious as imprisoning those two border patrol agents for shot and capturing that drug smuggler and having the smuggler as chief witness the whole DPT OF HOMELAND SECURITY should be abolished

Rather than raise his own half-brother out of abject poverty in a mud hut, Obama wants to put us all little people into mud huts to level the playing field for everyone, except for the liberal ruling elites of course.
