Dems Hard At Work or Hardly Working? Looking On the Bright Side

Posted by The MaryHunter at October 7, 2009 7:48 PM

Democrats were supposed to bring, among other things, a new work ethic to Washington after they took over in 2006. As most things Dem, it was a pure sham:

After taking control of the House in 2006, Democrats said lawmakers would work four or five days a week to bring change to America. But the Politico's Jake Sherman reports on October 7, 2009 that midway through President Obama's first year in office, the House, "has settled into a more leisurely routine. Members usually arrive for the first vote of the week as the sun sets on Tuesdays — and they're usually headed back home before it goes down again on Thursdays."

Some aren't really upset at this latest Democrat breach of trust with the American people.

Missouri Republican Congressman Roy Blunt looks on the bright side: "Two and a half days a week is plenty of time to consider the ideas coming out of this Democrat-led House. Imagine the damage they could do with five-day workweeks."

Anything, anything at all, to keep the Wicked Witch of the West away from the gavel.

After taking control of the House in 2006, Democrats said lawmakers would work four or five days a week to bring change to America.

Isn't that known as the "typical work week?"

And these assholes make $168,000/year (+bribes bringing them into millionaire status within 2 years).

... Members usually arrive for the first vote of the week as the sun sets on Tuesdays — and they're usually headed back home before it goes down again on Thursdays.

Let's see. Tuesday 6PM - Thursday 6PM. Max, 2 days per week.

$168,000 / 52 weeks / 2 days = $1,615 / day.

Now, if we were to equate each day to a typical 8 hour day... $1,615 = ~$202 / hour.

Sigh... we're paying them about $202/hour to plot and scheme up more ways ways to steal MORE of our money.

Oh, and the above "per day" and "per hour" are minimums. Because, lest we forget, they take off for weeks and months at a time.

Just take that in...

...tar... feathers... pitchforks... fire...

"Imagine the damage they could do with five-day workweeks."

My thoughts exactly. The less time these mutts spend in session, the worse it is for us.

"The less time these mutts spend in session, the worse it is for us."

Oops. Make that the more time these mutts spend ...

Who pays these guys and elects them?

I posted this in a different thread but it bears repeating because, even though they only "work" two days, they still manage screw-ups of epic proportions.....

-----------
If anyone has looked at the CBO estimate of the phantom Baucus bill...

It said it would cost $829B / 10 years (from time of signing). Disingenuous. The bill doesn't actually take effect until 2013, so the 10 year estimate of $829B is actually the 7 year cost.

Also, it would leave 25 million STILL uninsured. Using the magic, "out of Obama's ass" 47 million number (that keeps changing on a whim), that would mean that the bill would only cover 22 million people.

Do the math.

829B / 7 years = $118,428,571,428 / year

Now... $118,428,571,428 / 22 million people = $5,383 / person / year

So, tell me fellow Moonbattery readers... do you pay more than $5,383 per year for your health insurance?

The funny money that transformed US Presidents into Darth Vader and Batman

Not a fan of defacing our money but I do think these look pretty funny... especially the Darth Vader dollar.

"Who pays these guys and elects them?"
