Apartment Complex Lifts Ban on Old Glory
Posted by Van Helsing at October 15, 2009 8:50 AM
The squeaky wheel really does get the grease. After the public reacted with outrage, an apartment complex has lifted its ban on Old Glory:
ALBANY, Ore. — Flags are OK again at an Albany apartment complex after the property manager reviewed the policy and decided she didn't have the legal standing to ban flags from the exteriors of apartments and vehicles parked at the complex.
"If people want to fly any flag of any nationality, it's their right," said Barb Holcomb with Oaks Apartments.
KVAL News also contacted the American Civil Liberties Union to ask whether the policy banning flags from the apartment complex violated any laws. The answer from the ACLU: No.
But Holcomb said she received different legal counsel that led her to believe she is wrong to ban the flags.
More likely, she got sick of enraged countermoonbats burning up her phone line. Of the resident who originally took the story to the local media, Holcomb says,
He's just a romping, stomping patriot.
Keep romping and stomping, patriots. It works. Likewise, the 45-day reform school sentence to punish a 6-year-old for having a Cub Scout knife was scaled back to a 3–5-day suspension when the public let its displeasure be known. We surround the petty tyrants who eat away at our liberties. If we push them hard enough, they will step back.
On a tip from Lloyd.

Attempting to not offend a few by offending far more is not particularly a good idea to begin with.

THE ACLU IS WRONG, AGAIN:
"Under the federal Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005 passed by the U.S. Congress in 2006 and signed into law by President Bush on July 24, 2006, homeowners associations throughout the country may not prohibit the displaying of the U.S. flag, but they can regulate the "time, place, or manner" of display when "necessary to protect a substantial interest" of the condominium association. Also, homeowners regulations may not be inconsistent with the U.S. Flag Code given in Chapter 1, Title 4 of the United States Code."

"but they can regulate the "time, place, or manner" of display "
Do they mean like in a closed, with door closed, between 3:09 and 3:11 am?

"Romping, stomping Patriot." I like that. I like that very much. We have torches and pitchforks and are not afraid to use them! They really do scurry when pushed back hard enough, don't they?

That's reason to celebrate!
Please send your celebratory goats to:
"Lao"
Mommy's basement
123 Moonbat Lane
Loony, Oregon
And please include a return crate since I tire of goats quite easily. German Shepherds on the other hand...

Jenn of the jungle, chummer, did you really think the ACLU would help a conservative cause? They are progressive liberals. If a tenant however objected that the appartment building had a flag outside waving however, you can bet they would crank up the harassment in court.
