Anne Applebaum Is Blind, Stupid, or Lying
Among her many defenses for child rapist Roman Polanski, Washington Post columnist Anne Applebaum has claimed that Polanski didn't really know the girl was underage at the time he drugged and sodomized her. In an email to Patterico, she wrote:
Yes, there is “evidence” that Polanski did not know the girls age – or that he was told but did not believe it: He has told people since that, anyway. Pictures of her from the time show a girl who could be anywhere from 12-25.
Well, here's some "pictures of her from the time."
Oh, yeah, nobody who looks like that would even get carded. Give me a break.

Looks like 12 will get you 25 to me.

That girl won't pass for anything older than 15 where I come from.
Posted by: Vrye Denker at October 2, 2009 5:32 AM
Yeah - she's clearly under 15, and that's being generous. And that's just from her face. He had MANY other ways of knowing her real age. And she said NO. Repeatedly. He's just another Lib doing what they do - lying.

But what makes a woman like Applebaum side with the rapist over the victim?
Posted by: V the K at October 2, 2009 5:47 AM
V the K, the answer is simple... liberal mental disorder.

The hypocritical, heartless sacks of crap in Hollywood who are defending Polanski all deserve 25. As the father of two girls getting darn close to 12, I simply can't understand how ANYONE could possibly excuse his depravity.

That is a crock, and Applebaum knows it.
In either case, whether or not he knew her age doesn't really make a difference, it's still a fact that he doped up and raped a minor.

"Yes, there is “evidence” that Polanski did not know the girls age"
He thought she was 11!

Yeah, this Annie Appleseed character is a real humanitarian, ain't she?
Does anybody know if she has children or more specifically, any daughters? If so, does she sell her "services" on Ebay in her spare time?
Miserable excuse for a human being...

Liberals will defend pedophiles with the most insane arguments if it can help one of their own. This isn't politics anymore. On a side note, Polansky is lower than an animal to forcefully sodomize such a sweet looking little girl.

I keep telling you all IT'S BECAUSE LIBERALS HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE!

Keep digging that child-rape apologist hole, Ms. Applebaum. Hopefully, the editors at the WaPo have enough sense to fill it in behind you.

Dear Anne,
David Letterman would like to have anal sex with your daughter. Does he have your permission?
Posted by: puffdaddy at October 2, 2009 7:48 AM
Apparently, from testimony at the trial, he admitted to knowing at the time she was 13. 12-25? I'd go 11-14 from those pix.

Applebaum's busy digging herself into an ever deeper hole with her stupid and reprehensible musings on the case. In this article (in which she's trying to defend her original "let Polanski go" article), she essentially implies the victim was a little tramp who had it coming - because she phoned her mother beforehand to ask permission to be in Jack Nicholson's jacuzzi.
Which makes the drugging, raping and sodomising of the child not "a straightforward and simple criminal case".
This right after claiming to be offended by her critics - because they are being sexist against her.
Thankfully she's getting torn a new one in the comments section.

Romeo and Joliet.

She looks very much like my grand daughter - who turned 13 in August.
Posted by: baslimthecripple at October 2, 2009 10:42 AM
how much longer will you exploit this girl/woman now in order to attempt to make some non-point?
The woman has said time and time again she wishes the case was dropped and forgotten about, yet you insist on publishing pics of her.
Proof that you people will tread all over anyone or anything just so you can feel that you are right about something.

I agreed with Bob Beckel for the first time in my life. He said if it was his daughter, there would be no discussion of what to do with the rapist scumbag - he'd be dead.
Anon, you never get it. It's not to make a point. It's to punish an evil scumbag who needs to be punished, period. What would you say if YOU were the victim.

Didn't I read that Anne Roadapple is married to someone from the Polish ambassador's office, an office which is advocating on behalf of Polanski?
Posted by: claw at October 2, 2009 1:25 PM
I am okay with this.
Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at October 2, 2009 2:18 PM
In all I have read about this case, I had never seen a photo of the girl at the time. That poor child!
BTW, Farnsworth, "Romeo and Joliet." Brilliant! Get a job as a headline writer.

Polanski knew this girl age he stated it in the court papers.
