Amherst, Mass Welcomes Terrorists

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at October 21, 2009 8:49 AM

A college town in Massachusetts --- could there be any more place of concentrated Moonbattery outside the San Francisco Bay Area? -- is throwing down the welcome mat for terrorists released from Club Gitmo.

Amherst leaders are backing a resolution offering the Massachusetts college town as a possible resettlement home for two Guantanamo detainees if they are released from the military prison.
The board voted 2-1 yesterday to endorse a warrant article filed on behalf of the two men by the group Pioneer Valley No More Guantanamos. The resolution would require approval from town meeting. It also calls on Congress to lift a ban on relocating former Guantanamo prisoners — even those cleared of wrongdoing — from resettling in the U.S.
"Anyone who hates America can't be all bad," said one council member.

I may have made that last part up, but you know they were thinking it. After all, it was a professor at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst who said, “[The U.S.] flag is a symbol of terrorism and death and fear and destruction and oppression.”

At the same time, a man in Sudbury, Massachusetts has been arrested for plotting to blow up shopping malls in support of Global Jihad. That should impress the UMass Admissions office.

"I may have made that last part up, but you know they were thinking it."

Thanks Gregory of Yardale for more priceless hackery.

You DID make that "quote" up and you IMAGINE, that other people actually think the things that YOU make up and that EVERYONE agrees with you.

It doesn't get any better than that.

Stereotype: Leftists have no sense of humor and are incapable of recognizing a tongue-in-cheek comment.

Status: Confirmed.

A note on humor and common sense: If one were attempting to pass off a phony quote as genuine, one would not call attention to one's making up of the phony quote.

Which is why Rachel Maddow and Rick Sanchez never said, "I may have made that quote up" after claiming that Rush Limbaugh supported slavery.

'Tongue-in-cheek' implies that a statement is not to be taken seriously. I find nothing unusual in Gregory of Yardale really thinking that the people of Amherst want ex-Gitmo detainees in their town because they share a hatred of America.

Besides that, if Gitmo detainees really were released (i.e. set free, not transferred to another country or anything like that), then wouldn't that generally be because they were acquitted of the crimes they were charged with? If so, then this town actually wouldn't be welcoming terrorists at all, which I think is their point.

It means no such thing. It may only mean that even though they are guilty of plotting terrorism, the evidence is not there to convict them of specific acts (a la Bill Ayers).

How many released Gitmo detainees have returned to fight for Al Qaeda? At least 61 confirmed. one released Gitmo detainee is now a leader of Al Qaeda who has masterminded terror attacks.

Oh no, calling my parents and telling them maybe they should move to Florida!

I would not have been a bit surprised if the quote hadn't been made up. As for the potential unintended consequences for Massachusetts, there may be some painful lessons in their future.

I spent from 89-93 at UMASS Amherst let me tell you, it truly was/is a moonbat-infested/plagued Bizzaro Land. This is simply par for the course for them.

I remember a few old college friends of mine and I would grab a bottle of Jack every Friday night and head out to a small park in the center of the nearby town of Northampton (the lesbian capital of the US) just to look and laugh at how wacky their population really was/is. Immature, I know, but hey, I was just a college kid then...

a professor at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst who said, “[The U.S.] flag is a symbol of terrorism and death and fear and destruction and oppression.”

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If they hate it here so much, they can leave anytime.

And yes, that goes for the United States as a country, as well as Moonbattery as a website.

Amherst is basically Berkeley East.

"those cleared of wrongdoing"

Just because someone is arrested, that doesn't automatically mean that they're guilty. What's bad about showing charity to the wrongly imprisoned?

Idiot.

The closer the terrorists can be to their biggist suppoters in WASHINGTON D.C.

Hey, check it out. Now Von Helsing in "Hopey Change" plays the same silly game as Yardale by posting a "fake but accurate story".

You guys are hilarious. Once again you create a straw man argument. Manufacture your own "story" and then try to score cheap points for the right by attacking your own fantasies.

Beyond lame.

Conservatives: tongue-in-cheek
Liberals: head-in-rectum

Lao, you keep leaving out the "m" from your sig.

Interesting handle Big Dick. Check out my 10:34 post in the San Francisco thread.

Well, it's going to be a rainy weekend, once again here in Moonbat Mass. I hope my wife and son don't mind getting up early on Saturday because we're going to the range and practice, practice, practice. Anyone care to join us?

Please send your donations to SonofTaz, Moonbat, MA 02102. Thanks

Gawd, how I hate this state.

Hey, check it out. Lao is too stupid to understand hyperbole, and blames others for his cluelessness.

Posted by: V the K at October 21, 2009 2:51 PM

V the K, always way too quick to type before he thinks, fails to see that I flagged the fake quote right at the beginning of the thread.

He also fails to note that some of his pals on the right were completely taken in and thought the quote was real.

Hey, hey you guys, just because they were released, does not mean they were innocent. If the government had gone the right route and declared them POW's, this would be a non-argument. But, that would have thrown up some more nasty questions, like if they were fighting and not in uniform, would it not be right to execute them on the battlefield, as the Geneva Conventions say you can?
And, in my time in law enforcement, I never arrested an innocent person. Sometimes, the charges were dropped, for reasons beyond my control, but they still weren't innocent.
