Afternoon Update

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at October 7, 2009 9:09 AM

There's so much moonbattery out there today, we need two briefing posts to keep up with it.

Item Number One: Another FAIL for the Nanny State. When New York implemented a law that requires fast food joints to publish calorie counts, it was intended to make people eat less. But a study shows that the typical customer consumed 823 calories before the law was implemented, but 846 calories since. (Lawhawk)

Item Number Two: Human Landfill Michael Moore, appearing on Sean Hannity's show, compared mortgage deadbeats to rape victims. He claimed it wasn't greed and irresponsibility that led them to take out mortgages they couldn't afford, but apparently, CitiBank slipped them some roofies and made them sign for mortgages they really didn't want. "I felt so dirty," sobbed a distraught Christopher Dodd. (Newsbusters)

Item Number Three: In the moonbat outpost of Austin TX, participants at a popular music festival were happy to wallow in the mud created by heavy rains the night before. The punchline: The mud consisted of composted lawn clippings and sewer sludge. (Patterico)

Moonbats wallowing in filth. What else is new.

Number 1 just made me laugh.

Doesn't that just prove that people don't really understand the numbers behind healthy decisions but STILL want to impose draconian legislation?

These people never learn.

They want to impose stupid legislation on that which they COMPLETELY don't understand.

Maxine Waters: “Many members” are as sleazy as my friend Charlie Rangel

" 'I want to tell you, there are many members who, if you go back over all of their records, over all of the years, you’re going to find that there were disclosures that were not made,' Waters said during an appearance on MSNBC Wednesday morning."

So, most members are tax cheats yet still hold lots of power? Who'da thunk it...

Illinois governor’s cure for Chicago teen violence: More money

"Financed by federal stimulus grants for two years, the $60 million plan uses a formula gleaned from an analysis of more than 500 students who were shot over the last several years to predict the characteristics of potential future victims, including when and where they might be attacked. While other big city school districts, including New York, have tried to focus security efforts on preventing violence, this plan goes further by identifying the most vulnerable students and saturating them with adult attention, including giving each of them a paid job and a local advocate who would be on call for support 24 hours a day."

So, rewarding malcontents with a job (damn the good students who actually want to amount to something in life, need more handouts for the worthless)?... and what did local advocates used to be called? Oh, that's right, PARENTS.

Oh, also note in that quote above... the plan is seeking to predict characteristics of future VICTIMS.

What ever happened to profiling the perp?

Doesn't profiling the potential victim just seem absolutely ass-backwards?

I didn't see an open thread title up there, so I will comment on the content of the post. (shame on me for keeping a thought)

1. Burger King, at the moment, has double cheeseburgers for $1 each. How does that my calorie count when I freeze 9 of the ten I purchased, and eat the other nine over the next 7 days?

2. My rent has suddenly gone from just less than half of my income to more than 100%. (got laid off) I want to know if I can buy a house now, one that I know I can't pay for, on my unemployment income, even if I am an educated, not handicapped, white male with a state paid scholorship college student living with me (my son). I get emails every day about Obama having money for me if I'm a black woman. Why is it I can't get a home loan I can't pay for, and money for me to go back to school just because I am a white man with "some" education, 20+ years experience, and a will work attitude? (don't explain, I know the reason, I'm just ranting about reverse discrimination)

3. There are still moonbats in Texas?

Trying one more time to post this, don't know why it isn't showing up, sorry if it double posts.

Yeah, Eric, there are still moonbats in Texas although we have managed to centralize them to Austin. Think of it as a concentration camp without barbed wire. (LOL)

Personally, I am trying to get a movement going that would relocate Austin to just right outside of San Francisco.

I am sorry for the multiple postings. When I clicked post it wasn't showing up, and I wanted to not loose what I had written.

Again, I'm sorry for the multiple posts.

That's OK Eric, sewer sludge happens!

Hi,

It happens that I know two of the people playing in the mud.

One of them has a BBA and the other a Maketing Bachelors, both from good schools. They work together in a business startup and do well.

I'd classify them as two young people with an entrepreneurial spirit that's exactly what this country needs.

To read your broad brush of them as moonbats was really disappointing. You could do with checking reality once in a while rather than pasting people according to your own preconceptions.

What's the big deal with you that they wanted to play around in mud anyway? How uptight are you?
