Who to Believe: Moonbats or Your Lying Eyes?
Progressives remain in denial regarding the massive turnout for the 9/12 March on Washington, going so far as to pretend the liberal establishment media's preposterous and easily debunked estimates of 60,000 to 70,000 are even remotely credible. A more serious analysis of the crowd size resulted in an estimate of 1.7 million.
Having provided the public with tangible proof of the crowd's size, Sophia Elena has found herself subject to the abuse and calumnies of liberals bitterly incapable of acknowledging the scale of the resistance they face from decent, patriotic Americans. Here she responds:

So? Once the election happens then nothing the people say matters anymore until the next election. I'll be more impressed when all these "millions" vote.
From the White House:You had input. The American people have input every four years, and that’s the way our system is set up

7 more years suckers Ha ha ha ha ahahahaha!
Dream on, idiot. There can't be 7 more years - it is impossible for a couple of reasons;
1) America will cease to exist on the 5th year
2) No way American's will send the Lying Obamatrons back for the 5th year.
Stare at the Obama poster over your semen-stained bed and dream on.

The idiot has a point, after a fashion. The exact turnout doesn't matter; all that matters is what happens in November 2010.
Obama himself is done. He's a one-termer, if he's lucky. But he's finished, done, kaput, right now. And here's why: as his influence continues to erode, he'll put on more and more infomercials like a dusky Billy Mays on speed, until people will be totally sick of the sight of him by 2012. It's happening already.

Don't forget to wipe your Obama poster once in a while, obot. Bammie has, at the very best, three more years. There's no such thing as "Seven more years" here. He has been way too destructive. In 2010, he'll be neutered and will be a lame duck for two years. Not a fun reality but the one he keeps digging himself in daily. Keep dreaming and don't forget to rehearse your "Conservatives are racist" chants in 2010, then 2012. Because you know, everything else is racist. If this was a white man, he would have been impeached already. He gets preferencial treatment wherever he goes and for whatever he says. Seven more years? Keep on dreaming.

"A more serious analysis"...excuse me while I howl with laughter.
You have GOT to be kidding me! You actually believe that all the people shown in either the Promise Keepers pictures or the Inauguration pictures could have squeezed into the space between the Capitol and 3rd St. had they been so inclined?
That's where the 9/12 crowd was. Don't believe me? Look at this picture.
http://americanpowerblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/panoramic-image-of-912-march-makes.html
THEN, you think another half million to seven hundred thousand MORE could have squeezed in as well???
If there were less people at the Inauguration than at 9/12 can you tell me why on earth they bothered to hang out way down the mall and at the Washington Monument? Why didn't they just squeeze in up front for a good view??
Go here and look at pictures # 2, 5, 17 and 20.
http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/01/the_inauguration_of_president.html
Now kindly explain how all those people could have fit in between the capitol and 3rd St.
Do I really have to question a report that tries to extrapolate numbers by looking at a speeded up video and estimating time breaks?
Do I really have to question a report whose calculations leave out the width of the pathways on the mall, (P.13) not to mention under the trees? Please notice that these are full of people in both the Inauguration and Promise Keepers pictures.
Do I really have to question a report that tries to extrapolate numbers from multiple crowd densities??
Look at the 9/12 panorama picture. Use your lying eyes. Notice all that empty grass behind 3rd St.? Notice the empty grass and the clear pathways in front of the reflecting pond? Notice how Pennsylvania Ave. is empty beyond 3rd St.?

I can't wait till Obama steals 2012! 7 more years assholes!!!! Have fun trying to get all those "millions" registered ACORN will see to it your votes aren't counted...
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....
Now if only Obama could start a war and get a bunch of you super he-man America defenders to go over and die in the desert America would be a better place.

No matter how many voters/taxpayers were there, what has been forgot is that the numbers what ever they maybe or were is that, those folks represnet votes the liberals wont be receiving, thus teaparties large or small must continue, our voice must be heard and show the liberal pukes the votes they wont get...all we need is 40 seats in the congress...
Posted by: SoWhat at September 22, 2009 5:16 AM
I concur, Stephan. If Lao had watched the video, he'd know it was a lie that the crowd did not extend past 3rd street. You'd think with the super abundance of evidence from different sources (metro ridership, video footage, scientific analysis) that the lefties would desist from the mantra that there were only 70,000 people at the protest. I estimated that just in the footage that Maria Elena showed that there was 100,000+, and that was just ONE road they were coming down and filming stopped before everyone had arrived!
It's peculiar the way leftists deny video footage even though they have no reason to disbelieve it other than that they don't want to believe it. It's like a psychosis or something.

Might as well start taking bets on how the media will spin the firestorm that's going to happen in 2010. A lot of voters stayed home in '08 because McCain was lame. These folks are going to flood the voting booths in '10 now that Master O has this country in the fast lane to a bad place.

Have you looked at the panorama photo of 9/12?
Here it is yet again.

Now, you tell me. How far back does the crowd go on the mall?
How far back does the crowd go on Pennsylvania Avenue?

Judith says "If Lao had watched the video, he'd know it was a lie that the crowd did not extend past 3rd street."
Judith, I did watch the video. The crowd marched down Pennsylvania Ave to the capitol. Naturally, DURING the march, the crowd extended past 3rd back to where they started.
Once they got to the capitol, then what? They didn't leave. They spread out in front and to the sides and around the reflecting pool. That spread out crowd AFTER the march is shown in the photos I linked up above.
The close up picture shows two blue buses on 3rd St. The crowd ends there. The panorama shows Pennsylvania Ave and the crowd there also ends at 3rd St.

The edge of the Capitol to 3rd St. = 1270 feet.
Constitution to Independence = 1615 feet.
1270 x 1615 = 2,051,050 square feet.
Forget the space taken up by the reflecting pool, the botanical garden, the trees, the statues, the gardens, the fenced off areas, the clear roads and every other place within that area where people could not stand.
2,051,050 square feet divided by a claimed attendance of 1,700,000 people =1.2 square feet for EVERY person at the rally.
Need I say any more??
Posted by: Lao at September 22, 2009 6:37 AM
Need I say any more??
No, you've already thoroughly convinced us you're a Kool-Aid drinking Obamunist.
Using your math against you, if the crowd were only 65,000 as the moonbats claim, each person would have 31 SF of space. Clearly, they are not spread that thinly.
The real figure, based on crowd density, area covered, and the figures on Metro usage, is probably in the high six figures.
Posted by: V the K at September 22, 2009 7:17 AM
V, Lao also doesnt count the people who were in the photo the time it was taken. Its not like everyone who came assembled and stayed there the entire time. The 1.7 million is inflated but 500,000+ is likely. Nowhere near as low as 70,000 reported by socall MSM. As for the Black Family Reunion - those things dont draw many at all. Even in large cities you might get a few thousand. I wonder what would happen if someone held the White Family Reunion right next to them? The White Family Reunion would be called racist but not the black one. Same deal goes for the TV channel Black Entertainment Television. In Pittsburgh they opened some sort of Black Arts Center - if they tried opening a White Arts Center the NAACP would probably picket the place.
The black million man march has vastly inflated number running as high as 3 million but anyone who disagreed with it was called a racist back then.

No, Lao, the crowd didn't end where you keep stating it ended. According to the report by Zac Moilanen, who was there, after the crowd fillwed the North, West and South fields, they were sent behind the fountain and to the Mall even though they did not have a permit to be there. He posted a video on YouTube if you want to see the evidence.
This claim is corroborated by Sophia Elena, who also was there. She also denies that the protest was confined to the space you keep stating it was confined to. You really should listen to some first hand accounts instead of trying to work with hypothetical models that do not reflect reality.

Lao - "An internet troll is someone who posts deliberately inflammatory stuff and contributes nothing"
Well, that's just hunky dorey, that is. Sorry, to call you up about this, Lao, but the original post above has a video, which you seem to just gloss over. Your questions may be relevant, maybe not. But you chose to post here on this thread, so it is reasonable for you to first engage the topic and evidence at hand before you start asking questions. The fact you continually leave that behind speaks about your honesty and casts doubt on the validity of your questions, which is why they are being ignored. (But to ask but one question of the photo you link - WHEN during the day was it taken?)
In contrast, Sophia Elena's video is very strong evidence. You are trying to tell everybody here that you can watch that video, (which could have been longer) and conclude that it was only 70,000 people. You simply have NO credibility, because you refuse to engage the initial evidence, therefore adding nothing, and that is why you - by your own definition - are a troll.
btw - 86 minutes x 60 x 29.97 is 154645 frames.
We got 150,000 photos, you, Lao, have one. The acid question - how many people in Sophia Elena's video, Lao?
Posted by: Stephan at September 22, 2009 7:47 AM
Based on what I've seen so far, I feel confident that there were hundreds of thousands of people there. I'd need a little more evidence to be confident that there were over a million, but I'm certainly not denying it's a distinct possibility. Part of the problem in reaching a certain conclusion is that we are trying to piece this event together from different angles, but no matter how many different angles we look at it, it still equals hundreds of thousands, not tens of thousands.
Posted by: Judith M. at September 22, 2009 7:50 AM
Don't forget this as well: Remember the guy who was holding up a sign saying "I represent 150 people back home." That could apply to nearly everyone there. I think only one of the Moonbatterers were there (?) The rest of us had to work, and so had to be represented.
Posted by: Karin at September 22, 2009 7:55 AM
You really should listen to some first hand accounts instead of trying to work with hypothetical models that do not reflect reality.
You've just summed up the flaw of every liberal policy ever.
Posted by: V the K at September 22, 2009 7:57 AM
Well, I'm glad to see that some of you agree that the 1.7 million figure touted at the start of this thread is utterly bogus and not by a small amount. That's a good start.
And, as Judith points out, you can still feel happy that every one of those people "represents 150 people back home" or something like that. She now expresses a need for "more evidence to be confident there were over a million."
V the K admits that the crowd was "in the high six figures."
No worries, that's only a discrepancy of a million or so.
Pinhead also agrees "1.7 million is inflated but 500,000+ is likely."
Now we are up to a 1.2 million discrepancy.
If anyone can point to a photo or video of a large crowd of 9/12 participants on the mall beyond 3rd St. please do.
Until then, I will accept that this panorama represents the demonstration at the Capitol at or near its' height.
That photo, by the way, is held up as proof of huge attendance (larger than 60 to 70 thousand naturally) by a great many sites on the right. Google "9/12 panorama" to see for yourself.

Here's an email from someone that was there:
To My Dear Friends & Loving Family:
As most of you know, I am almost certifiably crazy and now I have found a cause that has touched me more than any other in my life. OUR LIBERTY. Oh, I know some of you will just say – that’s’ old crazy Ralph exaggerating again – making shit up. Well allow me to show you what I saw with my own eyes and what I heard with my own ears. Then I will show you a few pictures(if I can get the damn things uploaded).
Actually the importance of what I about to report has little to do with the two million plus of concerned Americans that I stood shoulder to shoulder with. It has much more to do with the total disregard obama has for our liberty and more importantly ………..the truth.
Our group arrived 4 hours early to the denoted starting point of the 912 Rally’s. A policemen told the people on the stage at 10AM – that we had reached CRITICAL MASS and that we must start NOW. So two hours ahead of schedule we began.
Being near the head of the crowd, we were walking within 5 minutes. The mile walk probably took 20 minutes or so. Once we could clearly see the Capital, I noticed that a large crowd (35,000 or so) decided to forgo the marching and had already surrounded the stage. We settled in about 3 blocks from the stage. At 3:30 the two school teachers with my group decided it would be a good idea to take the blind gentleman back to the tram and take him back to our hotel. They called me at 3:45 or so, and told me, “PEOPLE WERE STILL MARCHING IN, AND IN FACT - THEY HAD NEVER STOPPED SINCE WE STARTED” That's 5 & 1/2 hours of people coming in!!
Here is what I found out later.
· A public service webcam – called Capital Cam – a cam fanning the Capital grounds – was shut down (ya think the messiah did that???)
· The tram service – just happened to cut it's stops in half for that weekend .... FOR REPAIRS
· At 2:30 there was an uproar from the crowd – we asked what happened – we were told that the “beltway” (expressway surrounding DC) had been brought to a standstill. To my despair I later learned – “someone” told the state troopers to block the entrance to the city and deny any more traffic. I later learned that an estimated 250,000 folks on busses & cars sat in rest areas and dead-stopped on the expressways.
A policeman I asked told me that this crowd was much larger than inauguration (which was estimated at 1.8 million) – THE LARGEST CROWD EVERY TO GATHER AT THE CAPITAL.
It is estimated that 2.2 – 2.5 million were actually in attendance.

"Well, I'm glad to see that some of you agree that the 1.7 million figure touted at the start of this thread is utterly bogus and not by a small amount. That's a good start."
No, 1.7 million is not a bogus figure, I just haven't seen an aerial of the event that covers a wide enough area for me to be certain. I am certain; however, that your 70,000 figure is bogus if the the videos we've seen are authentic (and I have no reason to suspect that they aren't).
I also thought Zac Moillanen's analysis of the video footage was pretty hard to refute. He measured Pennsylvania Avenue, found it was approximately 1.86 times the size of the National Mall, areawise. From the video the crowd was fairly tight, although there were some gaps, soe deducted 200,000 for cross steets, as well as gaps, and since the mall is estimated to hold 1,066,000, when you multiply that by 1.86, you get 1.9 million, minus 200,000, you get 1.7 million. It's very reasonable, but I still wish there were an aerial shot that had been taken that showed the whole crowd at the beginning of the march to confirm the video was authentic, but, you know, I don't think people in high places WANTED to know how many people were there.
Posted by: Judith M. at September 22, 2009 2:12 PM
Mao's posts remind me so much of the flat-earthers, the corn-field circle believers, the people who claim that the Eagle never landed (all a hoax), grassy knollers, and so on. I've wondered for years now at the way the demented can manifest their selves in apparently reasonable language. It must be a sad affliction.
I'm not a psychologist but I am willing to bet that there is a a legitimate term for this pathology.
Posted by: Jim at September 22, 2009 3:51 PM
It's not that Lao's arguments don't make sense, it's that he cuts himself off from any data or information that doesn't fit his model. He absolutely insists that protest did not extend past 3rd, even those everyone who was there said it did extend well past third. I like Vic's study of the video, because it has verifiable dimensions, we know how long it took for people to make it from one end of Pennsylvania to the Capitol and we could see that although there were some gaps in the crowd it was pretty consistent. It's the next best thing to an aerial photo, but as the letter posted by Bill indicates, not everyone marched down Pennsylvania and there were tens of thousands of people already at the Capitol when the first marchers arrived, so it probably understates how many people were there, too.
Posted by: Judith M. at September 22, 2009 5:31 PM
I love it Judith.
The 9/12 Panorama is being celebrated by others on the right as definitive proof of the size of the event. The panorama shows the back of the crowd ends at 3rd St. Look at the picture. What do you see?
It seems that fact does not fit YOUR model.
People here cite video and photographic evidence. "Everyone who was there says" is meaningless. A previous request for evidence got no takers.
I repeat. Someone link a picture or video that shows the 9/12 crowd substantially filling the mall beyond 3rd St.
