What I Learned From Arguing with a Moonbat

Earlier today, I had an exchange of ideas with several progressive moonbats, and I learned that the left has a well-reasoned, thought out answer to every substantive criticism of ObamaCare. I will share them with you, so that you may be enlightened, and perhaps, change your mind about government-run health care.

Conservative Criticism: Deficits over the next ten years are projected at over $10 Trillion dollars. Even if ObamaCare were deficit-neutral (and the CBO says it isn't), it is financially irresponsible to add a new entitlement to the budget.
Progressive Answer: You're a racist.

Conservative Concern: These new mandates and regulations will drive up the cost of insurance for middle class families, making it even costlier than it is today.
Progressive Answer: You're a racist.

Conservative Concern: There are over 1,300 insurance plans in the United States. Why not break down the legal barriers and let them all compete nationwide? That wouldn't cost the Government a dime.
Progressive Answer: You're a racist.

Conservative Criticism:
If these reforms are so great, why not do them on Medicare/Medicaid first and prove they work before forcing them on the entire economy?
Progressive Response: Racist! Racist! Racist! Glenn Beck! Sarah Quitter Palin! Racist! Racist!

You get the idea...

00:00:21 >>> And what's behind the boiling anger that so many conservatives feel for president obama?
00:00:23 Tens of thousands who came out this weekend in washington, some carrying signs with ugly messages like bury obamacare with kennedy.
00:00:31 And this one, hitler gave speeches too.
00:00:34 Yep, this crowd is angry about bailouts and stimulus plans and the federal deficit.
00:00:38 But could there be another factor involved?
00:00:41 Could there be in some cases, in some of those protesters' minds, a refusal to accept the legitimacy of barack obama's president, because of his race?
00:00:48 Could be.
00:00:50 That's in our hot debate tonight

BO ran on race and governs by it.

I'm sick of this racist garbage. Aren't we also against Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank & all the rest with their liberal "progressive" (communist) agendas--and aren't they WHITE people? I'd have voted for Alan Keyes but I never even noticed him in the primaries because of all the media hype slobbered over Hilary & Obama & McCain. Now that I've finally noticed Keyes, if he was to become president, I'd say GREAT. I don't care the president's color--I care about his character, his honesty, his ethics, his caring for the American people. I don't want a Marxist president. I want an American president who believes in the Constitution & our founding fathers & capitalism. That's all there is to it. IT ISN'T ABOUT RACE!!!

Yep.

BO stinks.

They recently outlawed BO on City buses in Honolulu.

No comment from BO.

I hate Obozocare as much as the next conservative but do people encouraging the removal or interstate barriers even think about the consequences? Ask yourself how many cable companies you have a choice of right now. That is what we'll be likely to have if we allow the insurance industry to consolidate power by buying the competition in neighboring states. The average person in PA will sill only have a couple of choices, but they'll be the same couple of choices shared by the people in Ohio, Delaware, and New England. No, I submit that we would be far better off if there were _more_ hurdles preventing companies from getting too big to fail and thus capable of buying disproportionate representation in government at our expense...

Posted by: Anonymous at September 14, 2009 11:55 PM

Anon, the rules are currently set up to favor big insurance companies already, and part of that is because of state level mandates that require companies to have to comply with state insurance laws for every state where they do business and you can't do that if you are a mom and pop insurance shop. If you got rid of all the state mandated coverage and let consumers choose the types of coverage they wanted regardless of where they lived that would go a long way to opening up the door to more competition between insurance companies. Big business, like big government, seeks to dominate the people and deprive them of their freedom, but state regulations that interfere with interstate commerce do not prevent the accumulation of powers into fewer hands, it encourages it.

I think the problem of keeping insurance companies competitive is more easily managed than creating a giant government health care bureaucracy. But there should definitely be more competition among cable providers also. I would definitely favor some monopolies being broken up in that arena.

"Ask yourself how many cable companies you have a choice of right now. That is what we'll be likely to have if we allow the insurance industry to consolidate power by buying the competition in neighboring states"

???
I was ready to tear into your comment - but then realized that you (like most who complain @ cable costs) probably don't know massive network of laws that allow CC's to operate as gov't sanctioned monopolies.
To equate this situation w/repealing the HMO act of 73 is not cogent thinking...

From what I see, healthcare is turning into a war between generations. Wait until these government educated youths discover they will be forced by law to prove to the IRS that they have a health insurance policy.

I was ready to tear into your comment - but then realized that you (like most who complain @ cable costs) probably don't know massive network of laws that allow CC's to operate as gov't sanctioned monopolies.

Then you would be wrong, at least in part, because I know of at least some of the laws making the cable company a monopoly. Do you really believe that the billions of dollars Comcast can plow into advertising and lobbying don't stifle competition? Let me turn the tables on you for a second and assume that _you_ don't know of the laws enacted in PA on behalf of Comcast and Verizon to outlaw municipal WiFi to areas Comcast and Verizon refuse to serve. Now tell me that any small regional company would have had such an easy time buying that legislation.

To equate this situation w/repealing the HMO act of 73 is not cogent thinking...

And I don't think screaming about "too big to fail" and taxpayer-funded bailouts is cogent thinking when you espouse the destroying any and every barrier to industry collusion and monoply formation.

I would like to see the libs that are speaking in generalities about conservatives being racist be a bit more focused in their attacks. I want to see them try and point a finger at the head of the Republican Party and call him a racist...oh, wait the head of the Republican Party IS BLACK. *GASP* How did that happen when everyone knows that all Republicans are white racists.
