Tucson Schools to Impose Race-Based Discipline
Our post-racial era of Hopey Change means apartheid for kids trapped in Tucson's public schools. In addition to various programs that waste mountains of taxpayer money to promote not being Caucasian, the Tucson Unified School District has taken racial bean-counting to the ultimate extreme of absurdity by imposing a quota system for discipline:
The board is calling for a two-tiered form of student discipline. One for Black and Hispanic students; one for everyone else.
With the goal of creating a "restorative school culture and climate" that conveys a "sense of belonging to all students," the board is insisting that its schools reduce its suspensions and/or expulsions of minority students to the point that the data reflect "no ethnic/racial disparities."
From the section of the 52-page plan titled "Restorative School Culture and Climate," subhead, "Discipline":
"School data that show disparities in suspension/expulsion rates will be examined in detail for root causes. Special attention will be dedicated to data regarding African-American and Hispanic students."
The board approved creating an "Equity Team" that will oversee the plan to ensure "a commitment to social justice for all students."
Once the privileged ethnic groups lucky enough to be "oppressed" have reached their limit for discipline, only those animals that are less equal than the others are subject to punishment. Consequently,
Some behavior will be met with strict penalties; some will not. It all depends on the color of the student's skin.
It sure doesn't depend on the content of their character with liberals in charge.
On a tip from Henry.

I guess we whites owe muds worldwide big time for all the billions of $ in aid we've given Africa, South America, etc. We're just so evil and oppressive aren't we, letting them into our schools, putting up with their monkeyshines, letting them infest and destroy our cities, yet somewhere harboring racist feelings toward them...poor oppressed people. How about this, I'll stop "oppressing" you if you get out of my land and stop taking my money. Without whites in your way soon you'll be ruling the world right.

You guys are such idiots. Arizona is a strongly Republican state. The changes there have absolutely zero to do with the president. That's why its a state change and not a national one.
So especially your retarded last line "with liberals in charge" has no bearing here. So once again we're left with you pointing the finger at yourself!
Posted by: Anonymous at September 22, 2009 9:23 AM
Yeah, who in their right mind would think that your racist? Its your Republican state doing it.
Then of course there's your wonderful "monkeyshines" comment. Nobody could possibly misconstrue that as racist.
Posted by: Anonymous at September 22, 2009 9:25 AM
Are we allowed to call THIS racism ?

Anonymous is an idiot, and proves it once again. The local schools in Tucson are run locally by city and county officials. Here's some facts about Pima county.
Pima County supported John Kerry 53% to 47% in the 2004 U.S. Presidential Election and Barack Obama 54% to 46% in the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election. In the latter year, Pima was the only county to vote against Arizona's gay marriage ban.
Troll FAIL. (Again)
Posted by: V the K at September 22, 2009 9:41 AM
Anon it would depend on if the Tuscon school district is liberal or conservative. From the sound of it it sounds like a lberal school ditrict. Monkeyshine means getting into trouble or doing things that are against the law or in this case school policy. Geez the word monkey has been around for centuries I would have thought by now you libturds wouldn't associate black people with that word. Now who's the racist?
Posted by: Farmer Ted at September 22, 2009 9:41 AM
Of course we are. That is racist, simply. If I lived there and learned my kid was treated differently because he was white, you can bet your ass I'd have a long talk with the principal. Welcome to Obama's America, where race relation has been pushed back 50 years. Anyone ever wondered... if there are more detentions for blacks and hispanics... could there be a factor, besides screaming racism? Maybe they do cause more trouble?
Posted by: Jay B at September 22, 2009 9:43 AM
We could just be brutally honest and call it what it is; Jim Crow in reverse. Students with darker skin pigmentation now enjoy privilege over more pale students.
Note, the troll doesn't comment on the policy itself, just throws out a false attack for making the logical assumption that the policy is liberal.

"You guys are such idiots."
Wow. What a wonderfully tolerant, understanding, and diverse, and intelligent way to begin a post. Of course after reading that far, there's no way I'm reading the rest of what would be an obviously childish little rant with no redeeming social value.
Tucson simply shows how deeply the communist NEA has soaked the thread of our fabric. I wish people would wake up to the fact that there are alternatives to publik indoktrination. Question - if the point is reached where the schools are completely hispanic and black - how will they calculate their silly punishment-quota?
Just when you think silly liberals can't do anything more absurd - they come up with crap like this.

Restorative.
Another leftist buzz word that moonbats cling to in a failed to portray themselves as wiser and more intelligent than they really are.
Posted by: J at September 22, 2009 10:09 AM
Are these people INSANE?
This idiocy will not create a "restorative school culture and climate", it will only create more racial conflict and encourage bad behavior from students who will now feel emboldened to cause trouble because they know they'll have a racial exemption from punishment. What a bunch of cr@p! If I had a kid in that school district, I'd yank them out of there immediately and tell the superintendent to shove this policy right up his or her racist hind end!
Posted by: Kanaka Girl at September 22, 2009 10:10 AM
And let's not forget the inherently false concept of "social justice," a silly and meaningless phrase that lefties love to parrot incessantly.
Posted by: J at September 22, 2009 10:12 AM
Here you go liberals, this is your ideology in action. Look upon your works in despair.
Posted by: Travis at September 22, 2009 10:51 AM
Once upon a time, to be "gay" meant to be happy or joyfull. Then the leftists redefined the word to refer to sodomites and pedophiles, who most likely are not very happy people. Now the left is working to redefine the word "racist". It wil no longer define a person who holds that any given race is superior or inferior to another. It will refer to anyone who is self aware and capable of coherant thought. In other words, those do not accept the devine wisdom of the Pseudo-messiah. As such I will from this day forth, proudly wear the title of RACIST.

To Anonymous:
The residents of the state didn't make this decision, the school board did. And while the school board positions are seen as non-partisan, it is very helpful to look at each member's political affiliation to get a better understanding of the thinking behind a decision such as this.
Judy Burns, President: Democrat according to Tucson Weekly
Mark Stegemen, Clerk: Can't find his political affiliation, but pretty sure he's a Democrat based on his campaign contributions (http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/mark-stegeman.asp?cycle=08)
Bruce Burke: Again, I'm going with Democrat based on campaign contributions (http://www.city-data.com/elec2/02/elec-TUCSON-AZ-02-part3.html) and news articles comparing him with Jan Lesher.
Adelita Grijalva: Her campaign for office was registered Democrat.
Miguel Cuevas: Can't find his political affiliation.
Nevertheless, we have at least 4 out of 5 members (possibly all 5) that are Democrat. And since most people consider Democrat's liberal, the last sentence makes plenty of sense!
Who looks like an idiot now?
Posted by: NR at September 22, 2009 10:59 AM
I think part of the conservative movement should be for us to run for school boards. There is so much moonbatness going on in our schools, and not everyone can afford private or a stay at home parent. I think all kids have the right to honest and objective history and civics; and equal treatment under the law, unlike Tucson.
Posted by: Karin at September 22, 2009 11:03 AM
Funny I don't remember from any of my Government classes ever hearing about the word "social" replacing the word "equal" in the Constitution.
"Social justice under the law" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I live in Tucson and its NOT a conservative town.
Idiot.
This dosent surprise me at all. Think "canary in the coal mine."

If my kid was in that school and they were punished differently because they were White I would file the biggest civil rights violation lawsuit that I could think of. This is becoming the status quo, ergo the school bus beating video still making the rounds of the internet and cable news. Get your kids out of public school NOW!

Ahhhhh wonderful. More liberal leaders reminding us hispanics how victimized and oppressed we are... and indoctrinating kids to grow up oppressed victims too, even if, they're really not.
Posted by: Pete at September 22, 2009 12:55 PM
Race war is imminient in this country. The left and their useful idiot allies in the minority community have wanted it for years, and Chairman Jugears McZero have finally delivered it to us. Well, it had to happen eventually.
Posted by: The End at September 22, 2009 1:02 PM
Spartan24... More bad news that I posted in an earlier thread. St. Louis had ANOTHER bus attack (black on white). They're setting a precedent; it's ok for blacks to beat up whites without fear of reprisal.
Also, in that second attack, they were quoted calling the kid a "white n***er."
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 22, 2009 1:06 PM
I wonder what they're going to find to punish the asians for, to make them feel like they belong. They don't typically cause much trouble. Maybe studying too hard?
Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at September 22, 2009 1:13 PM
If the minority students are held to a lesser standard, their behavior will reflect this. People will, for the most part, live up or down to , what is generally expected of them. What kind of society will we have, if one group of people in that society is regarded as being less responsible than others? Isn't this a form of institutionalized prejudice?
Posted by: James McEnanly at September 22, 2009 1:23 PM
Awww,..liberal white guilt strikes again,...I assume they read a book about the 4% of slave sold to Americans,..but do they understand that black people bought slaves here in America too? Today you can still buy someone,..just ask your friendly arab!
Posted by: Chris at September 22, 2009 1:47 PM
Mr Evilwrench, lefties usually don't consider Asians to be "Oppressed victims of social injustice" (Even though they too have been screwed over pretty badly at times in American history, but they generally seem to be able to put the past behind them).

Anyone for home education and abolishing the DEPT OF BRAINWASHING(EDUCATION)?
Posted by: Flu-Bird at September 22, 2009 2:16 PM
What I suspect will happen is that as the egregious misbehavior of "minority" students escalates, white students will be hunted and punished for trivial reasons so that the "ratios" will remain in balance.
"What's that? Knifing in the school hall? Oh, wait, we can't suspend yet. Let's go see if we can find someone with an un-registered asthma inhaler to suspend. Our quotas will be in order, then,"
Posted by: SW at September 22, 2009 2:50 PM
This all comes back to the theory of "soft bigotry of low expectations. As James McEnanly stated, people will live up/down to the standards that are expected of them.
Low standards produce low-quality people.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 22, 2009 4:23 PM
I have an idea, why not have a two-tiered school system? One for Blacks and Latinos; one for everyone else.
Posted by: oldguy at September 22, 2009 5:03 PM
Oldguy,
That sounds like segregation to me... and, by the looks of it, liberal policies are advocating just that.
Race-relations, set back... again.
Congratulations liberals. The party of racial divide.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 22, 2009 5:58 PM
This is news?! This has been going on in Prince George's County Public Schools, Maryland for almost 20+years! Principals are partially evaluated for keeping their jobs by the number of minority suspensions they issue per year. There is a limit that they are told that had better not exceed and it is broken down by race.
This is old news.
