Radical Curriculum Produces Excellent Results
A long time ago, the year 2000 to be precise, Dr. Ben Chavis became the principle of the American Indian Public Charter School (AIPCS) in Oakland, an inner-city charter school composed almost exclusively of low-income minority students. When he left in 2007, the school was rated the fifth-highest-rated middle school in the state — out of 1,300.
Chavis has written a book about his experience, Crazy Like a Fox: One Principal’s Triumph in the Inner City, which describes how he brought success to the inner city school. Here are a few of his techniques.
- Students were taught a progressive curriculum that emphasized how white males had used privilege to oppress other cultures.
- Grades and homework were abolished, in favor of "Self-Esteem Happy Points" that were awarded whenever a student said something positive about himself, or daily in the event that a student didn't say something positive about himself. At the end of each semester, all happy points were equalized among all students.
- Students were given extra credit for attending anti-war demonstrations and lesbian weddings.
J/K! No, here's the real curriculum that led to Dr. Chavis's success.
- Near perfect attendance was mandatory.
- Teachers assigned a minimum of two hours of homework per day.
- The curriculum emphasized boring but useful topics like math and language use.
- Strict discipline enforced order.
- High standards were expected of everyone.
Progressive moonbats don't understand why we reject their feelgood hippie crap. It's not because we're mean, or sexually repressed. It's because it doesn't work. The old-fashioned values the progressive crowd spits on --- hard work, self-discipline --- do work.

A few years ago I did some work in a charter school in the Bronx. I don't know the curriculum of that particular school, but I was impressed by the students. They were polite to us and were well behaved in general.
In contrast, we got ice balls thrown at us by 12 year olds at a crappy public city school in Mattapan (Boston), and the kids looked like they would have done much worse if they could have.

When I'm not running my own PR consultancy, I teach PR writing as an adjunct at a well-known, highly respected university in New England.
Today, I walked into my classroom, and what do you think I saw on the whiteboard? Well, I saw the following:
maleness = biological
masculinity = constructed
Huh. You could have fooled me.
So I waited until my entire class arrived. And I then made a point of erasing it in front of them, but not before ridiculing what appeared on the board. As I erased it, I said something along the lines of, "You know, this is news to me. Oh, wow, it's erased now. I feel much better."
The professor who had the room before I did no doubt share that hogwash with his or her class. We have our work cut out for us, folks. This sh!t is ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Considering the scale of the civil war (over 10,000 military engagements, I think I read somehow), it's more likely that any particular white person is descended from people who risked their lives to fight against slavery than from people who were slave owners.
And considering the amount of Americans of Irish, Scottish etc descent, the likelihood of any white American having ancestors who were enslaved, killed, had land confiscated, etc., is probably about as great as that of any individual black person's great-grandfather having been a slave.
But of course leftists and racial politics-mongers ignore facts and history whenever they interefere with guilt-trafficking.
