No threads about how Obama's education speech killed us all. Shocking. Do you have a new insanity-du-jour?

I heard that Obama is abolishing all religion, and forcing everyone to get a license to reproduce! It must be true, a lunatic said it online!

Posted by: Anonymous at September 9, 2009 8:27 AM

Obamas education speech was sanitized and rewritten and the study guides dumped (study guides were the real issue, not the speech so much). It was victory for Americans against the Obamatron. In the same way Van Commie was thrown under the bus.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 9, 2009 8:29 AM

Honestly, draen, your savings will be worth more tomorrow than it is today. We've already entered a deflationary period, as evidenced by the graphs showing contracting consumer credit. However, once our toxic debt has effectively been outed and marked to market, enter the the trillions we've literally printed and flooded the market with, thus leading to hyper-inflation. Even then, though, your savings won't be worthless. You'll still need toilet paper.

Long story short, buy staples. Get to know your neighbors. Be able to fend for yourself.

Posted by: cowlove at September 9, 2009 8:30 AM

Obama himself hasnt said he want to abolish religion or force people to have licenses to reproduce but there are czars whom he is taking advice from who want things along those lines. Obama himself said to judge him by the company he keeps. Well crackpots like Van Jones, Reverend Wright and John Holdren (forced abortions and forced abortions) are just the tip of the iceberg. Not to mention those who would cripple the economy with "cap and tax" and other CO2 nonsense.

Oh my God! Joseph McCarthy is so proud of you refuter! And Billy Bragg named an entire album "The Internationale", round them both up! Oh, and you better confiscate my Vladislav Tretiak jersey too!

What a joke, you guys have all let Glenn Beck give you a red scare after you laud about how Reagan won the Cold War. You guys want it both ways, when we questioned President Bush were "un-patriotic" and now we are "commies" because we support some of President Obama's plans.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at September 9, 2009 9:17 AM

Wellstone>> Nearly everyone who was accused of having ties to Communism by McCarthy did indeed have such ties. Educate yourself on Project Venona, and see that it proved, beyond ANY doubt that there were Soviet Agents working within the United States Government at the time. Of course, you know nothing about any of this. The Educrats and Marxist Professors who re-educated you never mentioned it, and besides, George Clooney said McCarthy was bad in his Goodnight, Good Luck film, so it has to be true, right? Your childish ridicule of those of us who oppose the ideology that INTENTIONALLY murdered between 100 MILLION and 200 MILLION of it's own people during the 20th century and had nuclear weapons aimed at American cities, has NO EFFECT anymore. WE ARE RIGHT, YOU ARE WRONG. END OF STORY. One last thing: Thanks for comparing me to the Great Joseph McCarthy. I take it as a compliment.

Refuter, my "re-education" did teach that in fact many he did suspect were in fact spies. However, a political witch hunt on American citizens by a sitting Senator is as un-American as I can think of. The House Committee on Un-American Activities was an invasion of privacy, which we all cherish, and then you have the likes of Bachman who want a media expose on who is pro-America and who is anti-America. You also fail to mention that McCarthy was censured, avoided, unpopular through most of the 50's, and after time his floor speeches were given to empty chambers. It was Murrow who took him down a few notches. You cannot cherry pick history, unless of course you are Dick Cheney.

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at September 9, 2009 9:46 AM

So-stoned were you aware that Murrow's best friend was a communist? Didn't think so.

Posted by: Farmer Ted at September 9, 2009 9:50 AM

Wellstone admits there were Soviet Agents working in the United States Government, but that doesn't warrant more than a cursory mention from him. What IS important to Wellstone, is that McCarthy hurt some feelings when he was trying to uncover and expose said Agents who were subverting our Nation and planning our destruction.

Posted by: Refuter of Liberal Vermin at September 9, 2009 9:51 AM

Wow, CNN has complaints about Obamacare.

5 freedoms you'd lose in health care reform

Posted by: Anonymous at September 9, 2009 10:14 AM

Refuter, your attempts are admirable, yet they contain falsehoods. McCarthy's rants on the Red Scare were a mask for Hoover's intentions, and they were uncovered by Murrow. A Hollywood Blacklist? Yeah, you guys are working on the current one, you have resorted to calling fellow citizens "Reds", "Commies", "Socialists", and "Nazis", which is amusing coming from a bunch of Bible thumping, gun toting tough talking neo-cons. This tactic was pushed back then, as it is now.

Ted, you really want to get into a "he knew someone, who knew somebody else that was..." That is dangerous territory that would go back and forth all day!

Posted by: Ghost of Wellstone at September 9, 2009 10:36 AM

Wellstone, you really are boring.

Posted by: Pauly at September 9, 2009 10:47 AM

So-stoned it was Murrow's BEST friend, not an aquaintance.

Posted by: Farmer Ted at September 9, 2009 10:52 AM

This time, Wellstone COMPLETELY ignored the mass murder committed by the communists and instead dragged out some absurd conspiracy theory involving J. Edgar Hoover. He undermines his own argument with his earlier admission that Soviet Agents were working in the U.S. and now implies that accusations (As valid as they were), were worse than anything the Communists did. I have no idea why he mentioned HUAC earlier either. McCarthy never served on that committee and was not involved in it's work. Hollywood Blacklist? Sorry pal, I don't feel sorry for Leo Penn or Dalton Trumbo. Both of them were card carrying Communists. Wellstone is desperate to make this discussion about anything BUT the ideology of Communism and the mass murder and human misery it wrought. Wellstone, why are you incapable of having a serious discussion about it without trying to change the subject?

Posted by: Refuter of Liberal Vermin at September 9, 2009 10:52 AM

Wellstone, why are you incapable of having a serious discussion about it without trying to change the subject?

Um, that's not what he's paid to do...

Posted by: cowlove at September 9, 2009 10:55 AM

McCarthy had it wrong; he was looking for hard targets. The Commies had it wrong, too; they were looking for revolution and societies to destroy. The only person who truly got it right was de Toqueville. He wrote the history of the Obama administration, but 153 years ago. The soft tyranny of majority rule. Real insight is just very, very rare.

Posted by: mega at September 9, 2009 11:15 AM

I am accused of changing the subject? I made one reference of how McCarthy would be of your witch hunt, then you decide to dictate the discussion into mass murder under communism. As Mega points out, McCarthy had it wrong. The comparison being made is it appears you wish for hunting of your fellow citizens. Further, you already have Bachman wanting to investigate her own colleagues. It is the same language. This yearning for the "good 'ol" days is dangerous.

You may want to look into Moynihan's declassifying of Hoover and McCarthy reports which were quite extensive in exposing both men.

Further, it has long been speculated that while McCarthy did not serve on HUAC, his tirades prompted the hunt for Hollywood liberals, and composers like Bernstein, and Copland.

Your viscous attacks, and unfounded accusations of your fellow Americans is a form of 21st century "McCarthyism", sorry you confused analogy with a history lesson.

"...it's long been speculated..." those are weasel words.

Our paid whore of a troll would have people who read his post believe that HUAC "hunt[ed] for Hollywood liberals." Actually, there was an actual Communist Party in our country that was an arm of the Stalinist Regime in the Soviet Union and that regime was actually doing what it could to destroy the United States of America and the members of the Communist Party in the U.S. were or had been active agents of that regime or knew of their activities. HUAC wasn't looking for "liberals," it was looking for actual communist party agents because they were agents of the Soviet Union.

WRONG. HUAC was created after WWII to expose and uproot Communists AND Nazis in the USA. Funny how you leftist liars never mention their anti-Nazi mandate.

HUAC was originally founded (under another name, IIRC) to look for fascist influence, especially in connection with German-American Bund. It shifted to looking for Reds later. IMO, we should revive it post haste.

In its day it didn't hunt Hollywood liberals, i.e., loyal but misguided Americans, but rather Hollywood Communists, which it found in profusion. The Venona project and KGB files confirm that Reds infested the film industry, the State Department, the Treasury Department, the list goes on...
