Obama's SecEnergy Expresses his Contempt for His Subjects
Chairman Zero's Minister of Energy doesn't think very highly of the American public.
When it comes to greenhouse-gas emissions, Energy Secretary Steven Chu sees Americans as unruly teenagers and the Administration as the parent that will have to teach them a few lessons.“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said.
In other words, people aren't wise enough to make their own decisions, so the Government will make decisions for them. Of course, if Chu spends his life surrounded by fellow leftists who giggle at the word "tea-bagger," one can see where he would get such a low opinion of the average American's mental faculties.
Of course, a spokesman had to come out and lie to the public after the embarrassing gaffe.
Energy Department spokesman Dan Leistikow added: “Secretary Chu was not comparing the public to teenagers."
Yeah, right. Also, ObamaCare won't add to the deficit. Van Jones wasn't a Communist. The President never even heard of ACORN before last week.
Oh, right...
The lies weren't quite over yet.
"There’s very little debate” that a new green energy economy will bring economic prosperity, Mr. Chu told reporters.
Very little debate within the administration, no doubt. Out in the real world, some argue that destroying two real jobs for every one green job isn't a good ROI.

And before some idiot troll brings it up, yes, he won a Nobel. But it was for work in lasers and had nothing at all to do with climatology.

Al the goracle gore and jimminy carter both got themselves a nobel too. Shows how much a noble is worth these days.

This imbecile has no place to make such declarations. Least of all, when it concerns the Great Global Warming Hoax.

Hell, nowadays winning a Kewpie Doll at the State Fair is much more prestigious than a Nobel...
Posted by: Fuzzlenutter at September 22, 2009 11:48 AM
The prizes for Peace and Literature mean nothing anymore, they are awarded strictly on the basis of leftist ideology. Economics is increasing like that. The science Nobels haven't been completely tainted by moonbattery, yet. But it's just a matter of time.

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said.
The heart and soul of that sanctimonious attitude is what has beggared nations and murdered hundreds of millions.

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said.
So, tell me, DOCTOR, exactly just how should I act?

Someone should ask him about the British citrus farming industry. Between the 1st century and 4th century A.D., the Romans were growing oranges, lemons and limes in Britain as far north as Hadrian's Wall, When the climate began to cool in the 5th century, citrus groves, as well as other crops failed, the barbarians grew restless, and the Roman Empire collapsed

Dr. Chu, please allow me to conjure up my inner teenager and simply say, "up your nose with a rubber hose"!

"New prosperity?" So now Chu is pontificating on economics? Please.
This exactly illustrates my long-standing problem with the Nobel Prizes. First, Nobel Laureates are bright, but not incomparably so.
Laymen, aided and abetted by Hollywood, treat Nobel Laureates as infinitely intelligent gods down from Olympus who should tell us mere mortals what we should do and think. The more grounded among them realize that this is nonsense; for every recipient of the Nobel Prize there were dozens of other scientists who could equally well have been chosen. (Since the Prizes are announced in October, note in the next month the handicapping of candidates on science-oriented sites.) But some - a few - start to take themselves a bit seriously, and begin to opine on matters on which they are pig-ignorant, much as celebrities do routinely.
I've often thought that Marx and Alfred Nobel were the two greatest screw-ups of the 19th century. Both tried to help, but did more harm than good.

"There’s very little debate” that a new green energy economy will bring economic prosperity, Mr. Chu told reporters.
So, displacing coal/nuclear for "rainbows/sunshine" = economic prosperity yield? That's like arguing that buying a red camaro instead of a blue camaro will yield better gas mileage.
Or, more apt, would be to compare electric cars to gas-powered cars. The energy displacement that occurs does not yield economic prosperity. Merely displacing the costs onto another cost form does not having anything to do with the economy.

Yet another doofus. This so-called administration is full of 'em.
"There's very little debate . . ."? Guess you aren't listening very closely, Czar Chu. I understand that one of the most vociferous AGW proponents and a leader of the wonderful IPCC (read: "This is the voice of [U.N.] World Control") has just recanted, as it were, and now says it looks like we're in for at least 10, and maybe 20 or even 30, years of global COOLING, with the North Atlantic measuring (those damn, inconvenient facts!) colder each and every year for the last decade (could be that the dearth of sunspots has something to do with it; I know you drones don't want to even think about the Sun having any effect whatsoever on the Earth's climate, but damn, those f-----g inconvenient facts again!).
One doofus after another . . .

A very useful comment in the original article that bears repeating is
"Ventures that create wealth attract private investment by offering profit. Ventures that can only get investment by force of law don't create wealth-they destroy it."

No dissent huh? Yea ok, you just go ahead and keep on believing that you commie stooge. Please, please, please keep pushing us so we can revolt into a civil war and we can finally hang you liberal traitors in the center of town in front of Starbucks for treason.

I wonder if Mr. Leistikow understands that this is a modern age and almost everything said or written by public figures is recorded for everyone to hear or read?

Chu on these nuts!!!!
Posted by: Dave at September 22, 2009 5:23 PM
I should be clear: Chu is perfectly entitled to his opinion. But that's all it is: an opinion. He doesn't know the economic impact of any given initiative. No one does. Hell, neither Chu nor any other scientist can predict developments in his own field with 100% accuracy. (Cue Lord Kelvin, the greatest physicist of his day, who was scathing about the possibility of radio communication or heavier-than-air flying machines.)
Bottom line: anyone and everyone can and generally is wrong a lot of the time. So one has to evaluate each argument on its merits, without appeal to authority.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at September 22, 2009 6:15 PM
PS: Unless it's my argument, in which case it is necessary correct, and an indication of cognitive deficiency not to realize that. Just wanted to clear that up.

No, comrade. It is FACT. The debate is over.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at September 22, 2009 6:15 PM- "He doesn't know the economic impact of any given initiative. No one does."
The economic impact will be whatever Comrade Chu says it is. This debate is over.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at September 22, 2009 6:15 PM- "Hell, neither Chu nor any other scientist can predict developments in his own field with 100% accuracy."
Comrade-Professor Al Gore can. Marxism is a science. It is the only science. The debate is over.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at September 22, 2009 6:15 PM- "(Cue Lord Kelvin, the greatest physicist of his day, who was scathing about the possibility of radio communication or heavier-than-air flying machines.)"
Was Kelvin a revolutionary marxist? I thought not. Hahaha. I laugh in derision.

Are you suggesting Dear Leader is wrong? You are treading on thin ice, comrade.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at September 22, 2009 6:15 PM- "So one has to evaluate each argument on its merits, without appeal to authority."
No, one only needs Obama Thought. Obama Thought is merit and authority enough, for all argument. Your commitment to Obama Thought seems suspiciously lacking. Perhaps one of our funenlightenment camps can instill the revolutionary fervor that is expected by our Number One Citizen?

I am with Jay in this one.
It would take pages to describe the variety, freshness and depth of Von Neuman's achievements so I won't. It's credibly reported that he memorized everything he ever read and, when challenged, recited for a quarter of an hour the opening pages of Dickens’ Tale of Two Cities. He could easily multiply two 8 digit numbers in his head. Among hundreds of other things he helped to perfect the atomic and hydrogen bombs but he also theorized a plan to paint the polar ice-caps to warm the world up a bit when he fell for the gloabal freezing bullshit of the 70's.
