Obama to Waste More Growing Welfare in a Year Than Bush Spent on Entire Iraq War

When liberals whine that the war to liberate Iraq cost too much, they make an argument that would be reasonable — but only if someone else were making it. We now know that their Teleprompter Messiah will flush more money down welfare in the next year than Bush spent on the entire war.

During the entire administration of George W. Bush, the Iraq war cost a total of $622 billion, according to the Congressional Research Service.
President Obama's welfare spending will reach $888 billion in a single fiscal year — 2010 — more than the Bush administration spent on war in Iraq from the first "shock and awe" attack in 2003 until Bush left office in January.
Obama's spending proposals call for the largest increases in welfare benefits in U.S. history, according to a report by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. This will lead to a spending total of $10.3 trillion over the next decade on various welfare programs. These include cash payments, food, housing, Medicaid and various social services for low-income Americans and those at 200 percent of the poverty level, or $44,000 for a family of four. Among that total, $7.5 trillion will be federal money and $2.8 trillion will be federally mandated state expenditures.

Welfare money is worse than wasted, because it doesn't just disappear: it buys poverty. Other than sinking us so deeply into debt we will probably never dig our way out, the only thing accomplished by Comrade Obama's pork-laden "Stimulus" bill was that it repealed welfare reform, which had been amazingly successful at getting people out of poverty.

If the government wants less of something — say, entrepreneurship — it taxes it. Where it wants more, it subsidizes. Our rulers subsidize poverty for the same reason they allow millions of Third World peasants to flood the country. To the government, more poverty means more power. This explains Democrat economic policy in a nutshell.

Cloward-Piven Strategy here we come.

Are we not supposed to notice that while we the people recieved literally nothing (except more insanity from the middle east and a giant bill, of course) for W's war, Obama's plan to spend money to help people does, in fact, provide a tangible benefit for the $s spent?

Apples and oranges? Nope... apples and a water buffalo (in space).

If the "tangible benefit" is perpetuating wealth envy, then sure.

"tangible benefit" = handing out money to losers?

Posted by: weewilly at September 23, 2009 11:17 AM

Another peek into the leftist mind:

Liberating 30,000,000 people from a tyrant, transforming a blood enemy into a nominal ally --- not a tangible benefit.

Spending billions to perpetuate a culture of poverty - tangible benefit.

@Pointless:

No, what the Reichschancellor's plan does is to transfer extorted funds from working people to parasites. Said parasites in turn act as stormtroopers for the racist regime. See: ACORN, et al. There are no "benefits" to be seen for any normal person, and to pretend otherwise is insanity. Get it now?

I recall how Ted Kennedy claimed that $1.4 Billion to build a border fence was too expensive. Meanwhile, pouring $16 Billion into the "Big Dig."

"Welfare money... buys poverty."

And it buys democrat votes by keeping people desperate and dependent. There's your tangible benefit.

Are we not supposed to notice that while we the people recieved literally nothing (except more insanity from the middle east and a giant bill, of course) for W's war

...except seven years without a single attack on American soil.

Obama's plan to spend money to help people does, in fact, provide a tangible benefit for the $s spent?

And what benefit would that be, exactly? Besides more Democrats added to the voter rolls?

Apples and oranges? Nope... apples and a water buffalo (in space).

No, apples and apples, numnuts. Funny how when the president wants to spend money on a Constitutionally-authorized priority (national defense) it's "wasted," but when we're subsidizing dependency, it's "money well spent." It's also funny how you and your kind aren't interested in digging into your own pockets to help the downtrodden, just other people's.

Good grief, I can't stand the hypocrisy and worn-out cliches from you people.
