Nanny State Cracks Down on Baby-Sitters

You might expect that the union-run, moonbat-infested state of Michigan with its 15% unemployment rate and a $1.6 Billion deficit would have better things to do than harass people for babysitting other people's children. You would be wrong.

A West Michigan woman says the state is threatening her with fines and possibly jail time for babysitting her neighbors' children.
Lisa Snyder of Middleville says her neighborhood school bus stop is right in front of her home. It arrives after her neighbors need to be at work, so she watches three of their children for 15-40 minutes until the bus comes.
The Department of Human Services received a complaint that Snyder was operating an illegal child care home. DHS contacted Snyder and told her to get licensed, stop watching her neighbors' kids, or face the consequences.

This is not an aberration, this is exactly how a fully functioning welfare state functions. To the socialist nanny state, there is no human activity that is "none of the state's business." The entire operating theory behind the welfare state is that personal judgment is irrelevant, and only busybody bureaucrats are capable of deciding such things as who can watch over your children.

What?

The Department of Human Services received a complaint

Wonder who made the complaint... local child molester? Guess s/he was angry that children were safe from abduction.

Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 26, 2009 5:14 PM

I could be wrong but she needs to check into the 'limit' of how many children you can watch at the same time, and the time duration of the sitting, before being considered in violation of any 'day care' ordinance.

On the other hand, WTF happened to "it takes a village", and "neighborhood watch"???

Next, which ever neighbor filed the damn complaint needs a full fookin' lawn job at 3 a.m. by one of the parents.

Next stop: Fining/jailing teenage girls for watching the neighbors' kids when they go out for dinner. How dare they tuck someone in without a license!?!?

Too many liberal politicians with too much time on their hands and wanting to fill their coffers with more ill gotten cash they need to be picking up litter on the streets instead of sitting around their fancy offices thinking of new ways to rob the public

This is exactly how a fully functioning fascist liberal in the neighborhood with no job and too much time on their hands act when they see someone actually helping another human being out. "Party of Compassion" your hypocrisy is showing again.

I FULLY believe that liberals don't want children to be safe nor feel safe.

It's their sick way of promoting predators indirectly.

"Party of Compassion" your hypocrisy is showing again.

Technically, Ted, they are compassionate... but instead of being compassionate towards the children (potential victims), they're compassionate towards their future abductors (can't create hostile or limited working conditions for child molesters).

'Tis not fair. /sarc

Local and state government are almost as bad as the federal government, and even worse when it comes to taking away our private property rights (at least until 'cap and tax' gives the feds national 'green' dictatorial powers on our houses).

Anyway, if the woman does try to get a state license for day care, then the local municipality will probably nail her for having a business in a residential zone - or something - they always find something.

That is the dumbest law I've ever heard. What next? Grandparents having to get a license to watch their grandchildren?

Posted by: Judith M. at September 27, 2009 7:06 AM

What now will these ninnistate wackos reqire parents to obtain licsens so their kids can join little league or ponytail?

Posted by: Flu-Bird at September 27, 2009 8:37 AM

This is the same DHS that routinely returns children to abusive parents. They have no clue as to how the real world works, they're all "social workers" living in their isolated little world.

This is so completely retarded. My son's girls are watched by a neigherhood teen after school for a couple hours until he gets home. I suppose that qualifies for licensing in that idiot state? Even the Peoples Republic of Minnesota hasn't gone that far (yet). Please don't give them any ideas.

The people in human services need their illegal alien nannies investigated to see if they are licensed too. If not, prosecute their asses! After they are fired of course.
