MSM Admits: Illegal Aliens Deprive Americans of Jobs
Here's a headline I wouldn't have expected from USA Today:
Immigration raids yield jobs for legal workers
It seems the illegal alien hordes — which have been driving hospitals out of business and bankrupting California — aren't just doing the work Americans won't do.
When federal agents descended on six meatpacking plants owned by Swift & Co. in December 2006, they rounded up nearly 1,300 suspected illegal immigrants that made up about 10% of the labor force at the plants.
But the raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents did not cripple the company or the plants. In fact, they were back up and running at full staff within months by replacing those removed with a significant number of native-born Americans, according to a report by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS).
That was the most extreme example of what has become an increasingly common result of the raids: "They were very beneficial to American workers," according to Vanderbilt University professor Carol Swain.
During flush times, illegal aliens at least supply needed labor. During a recession, they take jobs from Americans who need them desperately. Also, as even a policy analyst for pro-illegal La Raza admits:
If you've got a segment of the workforce that's afraid to speak out against violations of their labor rights, then that drags down wages and working conditions for all workers.
Of course, La Raza's solution would be the same as Comrade Obama's: amnesty — which will hardly make it easier for Americans to find jobs.
There is an entity that actually benefits from our policy of leaving the border wide open for uncontrolled immigration: Big Government. The more illiterate peasants from Third World backwaters wind up on welfare, the faster the cancer metastasizing out of Washington will grow.

thanks for posting this van, read it yesterday, this totally obliterates the "they do the jobs americans will not" talking point. as unemployment continues to rise and the dems/rinos persist with amnesty, i foresee a bloodbath in 2010.

Back last year JUDICIAL WATCH sued HERDON VIRGINIA and forced them to close a illegal day labor place where illegal aliens would gather to be hired for jobs

This was a blinding flash of the obvious.
Here in "Chateau Country" in the border region between Delaware and Pennsylvania (aka BidenLand, in the shadow of the Vice President's mansion), the Mexican illegals originally came here to work in agriculture, mainly the mushroom industry. Prior to the Mexican influx, it was Puerto Ricans (nearly all of whom were here legally). The Mexicans and Puerto Ricans openly hate each other, too - so so much for Hispanic / Latino solidarity. Prior to the Puerto Ricans, we had itinerant laborers from Appalachia coming up to work on the mushroom and horse farms. The joke was that 3/4 of the population of Moutain City, TN was here at any given time.
The illegals are now doing all sorts of jobs - from the construction trades to food service to landscaping. Mainly they take away the entry-level jobs that kids need to get started in the labor force. The employers are basically getting cheap government-subsidized slave labor.
I say "government subsidized" because as a taxpayer, I have to pick up all of the costs associated with subsidized housing (yes, even for illegals), health care, education, law enforcement, etc., as well as the social cost of some of the lawless behavior that comes with it all.
President Bush was apparently sympathetic towards Mexican illegals because of his upbringing in Texas. President Obama and the entire Democratic party see the illegals as a way to expand the "culture of dependency" that is a major part of the Leftist platform.

President Bush didn't care because he is a member of the elite ruling class, and to him, Mexican illegals and American workers are all the same: peasants to be ruled over.

Now that E-Verify is becoming a nationwide verification application to extract 20 million plus illegal immigrants from businesses. It is now growing in aggressive performance for placing true US workers in the job line and outing illegal labor. This operation should now extend to certainly more purposeful uses? That means not just federal contractors but everybody who draws a pay check? Should a health care reform pass all obstacles in the House and Senate chambers, it could have an invaluable function of checking people who are not only applicants for jobs, but health care reform registry. Illegal immigrants are already getting free emergency hospital care and--WE--pay for it. In the future it should be considered to vet a person’s nationality status, when applying for a mortgage? The United States banking system, financial institution were all but swept away on a deluge of corruption that has very sinister undertones in an organization called ACORN.
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform now is under state and federal investigations at this very moment. Other involved institution impacted both Freddie Mac/Freddie Mae and a scheme incorporating underhand minority lending practices. But you might not have heard any of this, from the liberal media about the massive illegal alien mortgage accusations. The whole debacle was the involvement in a corrupt enabling banking industry and ethnic lobbyists, using unethical methods, along with Bush administration to guarantee loans for low income and people that could not possibly afford mortgages. Didn't Wall Street, the government regulators learn anything from the Savings and loan crisis in the 1980’s?
