Manchester Guardian: Support ObamaCare or Earth Is Doomed!
And you thought the American media were over-the-top for declaring that opposition to ObamaCare/Radical Socialism/Trillion Dollar deficits was based on racism. The Manchester Guardian goes one step further: "If Obama can't defeat the Republican headbangers, our planet is doomed."
Anyone who cares about the survival of our planet should start praying that Barack Obama gets his way on reforming US healthcare. That probably sounds hyperbolic, if not mildly deranged...
Mildly?
The Guardian's theory is, if Obama can't get Phase 1 of Nationalized Health Care passed, he can't get Cap-and-Trade passed. If he can't get Cap-and-Trade passed, then Earth is doomed. DOOMED!
Obama supporters loudly declare that we are doomed unless we abandon our freedom-loving ways and follow their gospel of socialism and environmental extremism, and they have anointed Obama as the Savior who will bring this about. But for some odd reason, they get a mite touchy when you call them a cult.

These people are moonbats! Truly blood sucking type O for Obama people. While the elitest vampires look for ways to suck up the American way of life and replacing it with a deadly, costly socialism experiment. The darkness is coming and no stinken HC or Cap & Tax bill will save us from madness.

Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at September 17, 2009 7:44 AM
Ad hominem aside, there doesn't seem to be a serious argument against the Guardian article. If Obama can't get the health care reform passed then he's probably not going to get Cap-and-Trade through either. Whether this means that the Earth is doomed is another thing. I guess we'll find out soon enough...

Everyone who is not a US conservative, by your definition, is a "moonnbat", and must be opposed at all costs. That about right?

The human mind is wired for religion. It's wired to seek a messiah. The goal of progressives and/or atheists is to eliminate Christianity and all connections to God from society. But they still need a god and a religion -- so where do they go?
Religious impulse doesn't die after God has been eliminated. It gets redirected into political religions. Politics then becomes a matter of belief and fanaticism instead of rational, debatable opinions. Sane people believe in physical sacraments connected to a supernatural God. Disordered people have political cults connected to a charming personality and an earthly messiah.
Posted by: lvb-rocks at September 17, 2009 8:57 AM
There's no serious argument presented because it's so self-evidently insane on its face. We could dissect it in minute detail, but the thing is, we here don't WANT cap & trade to pass anyway, neither do we want the health screwover, and if breaking the one dooms the other, all the better.

To add to my last comment, not everyone who supports Obama treats him as anything remotely approaching a "messiah". Many of his supporters are God fearing Christians.
But hey, have it your way. Insist that everyone who doesn't support your position must be mentally defective. That ought to get the Republicans back into power...

ptet, Obama is done. Finished. Zagrito. Kaput. Finito.
He's a lame duck already. Blue Dog Democrats were steering away from him on Obamacare after getting an earful in the townhall meetings. Now even the hard-core Reds in the Democrat Party (e.g., Boxer) are scuttling for the baseboards after this ACORN scandal.
President ACORN is grievously wounded politically. At this point, he'd be lucky to get a bill passed honoring motherhood.
The question is, given his rather brittle and narcissistic personality, and his total lack of political experience, how will he react to the first opposition he's ever encountered?
Posted by: Jay Guevara at September 17, 2009 10:05 AM
I don't know anyone going all mushy over Beck, but then there may be a couple here and there. Anyway, admiration of Beck follows from his accomplishments. Maximum leader zero has none. He's been elected president of the US and still has none. What has he ever done to deserve the adulation some of these zombies heap on him?

Posted by: Jay Guevara at September 17, 2009 10:13 AM
I oscillate between thinking liberalism is a mental disorder and believing that it's a character defect.
Whenever I hear liberals hysterically screeching that we have to do something to save the planet from doom, I think "mental disorder."
But whenever I hear them talk about how they "deserve" to be given whatever it is they want, I think "character defect."
My take: the planet's fine. Relax. For a species that's doomed, we sure can crowd a freeway. And no one deserves anything he didn't work for. So liberals, calm down, and grow up.

"ptet, Obama is done. Finished. Zagrito. Kaput. Finito."
And you decided that when? Before he started?
And you guys call your politics opponents undemocratic.
Moonbattery.com is a shining example of the Right lost power in America, and why it doesn't deserve it back.
And that is sad. America needs decent politics.
What it's got instead is numpties on all sides. That's pretty par for the course in politics, however.
You guys, though, are so wrapped up in your own hatred of your stupid "libruls are evil" boogyman that you'd rather your own president failed.
You know, Democracy is all about putting up with opinions you don't like...

And we had no problem ripping into Bush for policies that Obama now holds the reigns to.
We're consistent, you're not. Simple.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 17, 2009 10:48 AM
And you decided that when? Before he started?
Moron, no. Obama's is finished because he's dissipated his political support in Congress. His own party is shying away from him to avoid electoral catastrophe in 2010. He's finished because he's lost leadership of his own party. It's every man for himself now. Put it this way: how many Democrats will want Obama campaigning for them in 2010?
That's why he's finished.
America needs decent politics.
This, from the party that gave us ACORN?? Everybody duck – lightning bolt on its way!
You guys, though, are so wrapped up in your own hatred of your stupid "libruls are evil" boogyman that you'd rather your own president failed.
If my "own President" wants to do things that I think are bad for the country, hell yes I want him to fail.
I was wary but open-minded about Obama; clearly he was conning someone. The question was whether he was conning the Reds, or conning Americans, i.e., was he actually a loyal, patriotic American who'd conned the Reds into thinking he was one of them, or was he a Red who'd conned loyal, patriotic Americans into thinking he was one of us. Obama's retention of Gates as SecDef, support for FISA, etc. gave me hope that it was the Reds that he'd conned. Now it's looking increasingly like it was the loyal, patriotic Americans who got conned, and so as long as I think that, I most definitely want Obama to fail in his apparent quest to implement socialism.
If he gives me reason to reconsider my take on his goals, then I'll reconsider my position.

I could care less about the "libruls are evil" type stuff, am not racist, disagree just as strongly with some Republican positions as with Democrat positions, and as can easily be seen by scrolling back on this blog to around Sept-Oct, I was warily open-minded about Obama pre-election. And yet now I await Obama's complete miserable political collapse with baited breath, savoring every decreased point in popularity in the polls every morning and cackling with glee as his sharp political rhetoric and attempts to destroy his opposition fall flat with a thud. 'Splain that, partisan.

Sure we do, but folks like PTET don't get it or the difference. IMAO PTET is just another smarmy twenty year old, probably not born in the US who loves dropping 'nuanced' shots at us redneck looney conservative losers.
Oh yeah by the way PTET, conservatives did NOT lose the last election. With rare exception anyone running as a conservative either kept their office or won one. It was the wishy-washy and the RINOs that got slammed. Conservatives lost the presidency in the primaries due to liberal cross-over voters. The GOP did NOT run a conservative - they ran Liberal Lite and got their ass kicked. Duh! Served 'em right.

I have a kind of a singularity theory regarding liberal ideology.
As liberal ideology progresses in its development, every single aspect will become indistinguishable from all the others. So, a (puported) concern over healthcare segues into a matter of race relations, and in the other direction it segues into an environmental concern. Thus indirectly, the implication is that the environment will be destroyed by racism.
Why?
Since liberal ideology is based on feelings rather than facts, science or anything else quantifiable (much as liberals claim the opposite is true), liberals will tend to like things that make them feel good and dislike things that make them feel bad.
With no set moral code, the liberal moral code in the end defines wrong and right by whether or not an action "hurts" someone else - or by whether hurting someone else can be justified. In reality the second point is the more relevant one since liberal only cares about "hurting" others because it makes themselves "feel bad" thus whether or not s/he can justify his/her own action to his/herself is really the most important.
A "lack of healthcare reform" is something that "hurts" people.
Racism is also something that "hurts people."
The emotion engendered in the liberal is the same in either case.
As the liberal shapes his/her view on any matter from the emotion it engenders, the same emotion generated by two different concerns renders the two concerns entirely fungible.
This article proves that my theory.
With feelings replacing logic as the primary judgement metric it is quite natural that someone would claim that a lack of healthcare reform will lead to global warming.
That, and the fact that liberals are mostly stoned-out mushheads.

Hey ptet- no comments on your blog since December, eh? Methinks your a little desperate for attention. Kinda interesting how the majority of the tags on your "blog" reference Palin, McCain, and last year. Are you a little distanced from reality? Stuck in your pre-election America?
And to say "You know, Democracy is all about putting up with opinions you don't like..." countered with "Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people,
it is true that most stupid people are conservative...", and then "...You guys, though, are so wrapped up in your own hatred of your stupid 'libruls are evil' boogyman that you'd rather your own president failed...", you certainly seem to do an excellent job of demonstrating that tolerance.
Sh!t-for-brains.

Jeez u *r* a pleasant person.
If you could see beyond your blind rage, you'd see I stopped blogging after the election, which featured one Sarah Palin.
You'd also see I don't spout hatred towards anyone.
"Sh!t-for-brains.
Don't mind this a$$hole, everybody. He's here to see how a real blog works."
It's blogs like this that stopped me blogging. All hot air, piss and vinegar.
There's plenty of places on the internet you can find good debate, different opinions, brain stimulation and amusing thoughts.
This place is just a hate-fest.
And I apologise if my quote from John Stuart Mill offended you. I have plenty of respect for plenty of conservatives.
You guys don't, it seems, want my respect ;>
