Hear No ACORN, Speak No ACORN, See No ACORN
Until recently, ABC's insufferable Charles Gibson had never heard of the earth-shaking O'Keefe/Giles tapes exposing the sordid corruption and degeneracy that characterizes the nation's largest community activist group.
In all his excessive media face time, Obama has never had much to say about ACORN until he was finally forced to call for some vague investigation — despite killing one recently — and let loose with this whopper:
I didn't even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.
Who else would try to funnel literally $BILLIONS of our money into this depraved syndicate of left-wing radicals if not the former Senator From ACORN, who has been using ACORNistas for his foot soldiers his entire career, even paying them $800,000 for their extremely dubious election services in 2008? Rather than insult us with preposterous lies, he ought to go back to staying silent on the subject.
Nasty Pelousy, as always, is on some other planet.

ACORN? Who? Never heard of 'em.
Posted by: Barack Obama at September 20, 2009 6:03 PM
"Billions" to Acorn? When that happens I will buy everyone here a beer.
Now if you want to complain about billions being sent to Wall St. that's another story.
The reason Acorn is the big bad boogyman is because they sign up legitimate voters who, because of their socio-economic standing, tend to lean strongly in favor of the Democrats.
Last election, faced with a voter registration drive that signed up 1.3 million new voters, the Republicans responded in the only way they knew how. Not by appealing to the interests of those new voters but by trying to demonize the oganization that signed them up.

Lao, what's your planet like?
Posted by: J at September 20, 2009 6:20 PM
Liar liar pants on fire.
How could Obama NOT know ACORN is getting Federal money? Is he Rip Van Winkle who fell asleep and now just realized they're getting federal dollars?
I cannot tell you how many homeless and hungry people I see on a day to day basis. People who are hurting financially, who cannot find a job, who are barely paying their rent and we can find the $ to find this corrupt organization?
There are so many folks out there who are really depressed. I take a few people to a local food bank once a month to get food. There are usually 400 people lined up for food. And we're spending money on this POS organization?
It's mind boggling. Clearly the inmates are running the asylum.
All 3 of these people knew this. They're mad that those 2 young reporters broke a story that shows like 60 minutes used to capture.
Oh I forgot, MSN is busy trying to catch a predator, their plate is full.
I really believe that most in WDC are the devil incarnate walking the earth. We need another Jesus to chase the money changers out of the temple.

It's too bad Fox News Sunday isn't available on LaoC's planet because if he'd have the curiosity to watch Bertha Lewis, the chief moonbat - er organizer of ACORN, he'd have heard her admit to receiving Federal funds.
He's probably too stoned to do this himself, so here's the link Lao:

On my planet we are able to form sensible arguments without resorting to pathetic attacks.
Did I claim ACORN had NOT received federal funds? No, of course they have, and under both Republican and Democratic administrations by the way.
I disputed the "billions". I challenge any of you to demonstrate that Acorn has in the past or will in the future get that amount.
Posted by: Lao at September 20, 2009 7:24 PM
Speaking of stoned, Son of Taz, you didn't link to a Fox interview you linked to a CSpan interview where she talked about going on Fox. She didn't happen to mention federal funds in that clip.

People are not hearing the true message. I was talking to a friend at church today. She is a nurse who belongs to SEIU. She had not heard about eggcorn or it's connection to SEIU & B.O.
I told her to stop watching the big 3 and get her info online from conservative sites. The networks are liars and will not tell Americans the truth.
BOYCOT the traitors.

Sorry J. it isn't going to happen and my offer of beer still stands. Those funds will mainly be gobbled up by state and municipal bids.
Note, I said "bids". "Non profit entities" which is the language in the bill, can also bid. ACORN is one of how many non profits? The bill does not name ACORN and to suggest that they will be on the receiving end of $5.2 billion is laughable.
Posted by: Lao at September 20, 2009 8:07 PM
I don't think they'd get the entire $5.2B either, Lao. Although, it should be extremely off-putting to know that the money IS AVAILABLE to them. It's not so much that they'll get the entire bit but the possibility... and knowing that they are far-left leaning, I don't want MY tax dollars to go to a group that works as a promotional arm for the left.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 20, 2009 8:35 PM
It's like expecting me to pay for you healthcare (forcefully mind you) when I DON'T WANT TO nor should I.
Oh wait, that's the premise of socialized medicine. Nice to know that twisters are content with robbing Peter (forced taxes, etc) to pay Paul.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 20, 2009 8:37 PM
Earlier on I said "The reason Acorn is the big bad boogyman is because they sign up legitimate voters who, because of their socio-economic standing, tend to lean strongly in favor of the Democrats."
Is that what you mean by "promotional arm for the left"?
It seems to me that one of the very foundations of American democracy is the right to vote. Legitimate voters SHOULD be signed up, no matter which side of the political fence they sit on.
Posted by: Anonymous at September 20, 2009 8:52 PM
That 8:37 post is mine, I hit "post" too soon.
Posted by: Lao at September 20, 2009 8:53 PM
arg...obviously it's getting too late for me...I meant the 8:52 post.
Posted by: Lao at September 20, 2009 8:54 PM
Liberals hate profits, yes? ACORN has employees that get paid, yes? Now, explain that. If they're doing such a good service and their getting paid for it, doesn't that defeat the "out of the goodness of their hearts" mantra that the left uses to lure in potential voters?
Sure many of the voters they registered are in the lower socio-economic standing but tell me, if they've been around for 40 years, isn't that proof that their gameplan is yielding no effect (rising poor population, constant)?
Thus, we're throwing money at, essentially, a cause that they're not helping and the only yield is bought Democrat votes. I don't support vote buying, which is what this boils down to.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 20, 2009 9:31 PM
their getting paid for it = they're getting paid for it
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 20, 2009 9:32 PM
Were you aware that Florida Gov. Jeb Bush signed a law that required places that sell hunting, fishing and trapping licenses to offer customers voter registration forms?
Posted by: Lao at September 20, 2009 9:38 PM
"offer"
"quotas with monetary incentive beyond 20/day"
Difference.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 20, 2009 9:47 PM
Also, I'll employ your logic a bit further.
You're OK with people being paid solely for soliciting voter registration (with monetary incentives beyond quota) but you're not OK with the offer of a registration form that is included with a sale?
Also, you're creating inequality here, by definition. The lower socio-economic potential voters had people come up to them whereas the "gun toting, bible thumping rednecks" who shop at gun stores had to go out on their own accord to get registered.
How about having registration offices? Oh, they have those? Golly gee, guess ACORN shouldn't be soliciting as a business.
Posted by: Anonymous at September 20, 2009 9:52 PM
Plus, you're comparing one state to a nationwide, partisan, vote-buying drive. That is also inherently flawed because you're extrapolating one state to be equal to be the equivalent of nationwide measures. Apparently you don't understand that states are different and have sovereignty.
Posted by: AmericanToTheCore at September 20, 2009 9:56 PM
"The reason Acorn is the big bad boogyman is because they sign up legitimate voters who, because of their socio-economic standing, tend to lean strongly in favor of the Democrats."
Or it could be the fact they signed up those legitimate voters numerous times, along with dead ones. And the multiple ACORN offices giving helpful advice for the running of underage brothels might count as a point against them. Who knows?
That and according to former employee Gregory Hall, the "most corrupt organization in the country" forces its staff to work long hours, much of that time off the clock.
"I always like to see what overseas pundits might think. Here's an opinion piece from The Guardian:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2009/sep/20/acorn-republicans-voter-fraud"
A non American leftard spewing exactly the same crap as his American counterparts. So what? The Guardian is by far Britain's most leftist paper.
One whose previous opinion pieces include gems like if Omabacare doesn't pass, the whole planet will die and radical feminist, Marxist republican (in the British sense of the word)Beatrix Campbell trying to explain why her accepting the title Officer of the British Empire from the queen is entirely in keeping with her radical principles.
You should read them. They're even more ridiculous than their ACORN opinion piece.

Smorfia48 says: "One whose previous opinion pieces include gems like if Omabacare doesn't pass, the whole planet will die"
Interesting synopsis, and utterly deceptive. The piece argues that if Obama cannot get his health care initiative through the U.S. political process then what possible chance does he have to get a new Copenhagen climate change initiative accepted by the House and Senate? I would agree that "our planet is doomed" is overly dramatic. The planet will do just fine. It's the quality of our civilization, such as it is, that is likely to suffer.
I'm always amused by people who are afraid to read what the other end of the political spectrum has to say.
As for $8 an hour ACORN staffers defrauding ACORN with phony voter registrations, so? ACORN themselves turned those people in for prosecution. Some seem to believe that registration fraud equals ballot fraud. It doesn't.
The ACORN staffers who messed up were fired and some were prosecuted, which is exactly as it should be.
