For Once Obama May Not Have Been Lying

Maybe Chairman Zero wasn't lying after all when he proclaimed that illegal aliens won't be eligible for free medical care at our extravagant expense under socialized medicine:

It is true that both the House and Senate health care bills as they are now drafted would make illegal aliens ineligible for federally funded health care. But President Obama has stated as recently as last month at a press conference in Mexico that he will seek "comprehensive immigration reform" legislation that will put illegal aliens on a "pathway to citizenship."
Viewed in combination, the president's health care and immigration reform plans would in fact let people who are illegal immigrants in the United States today receive federally funded health care benefits when the plan comes on line. In his speech [Wednesday] night, the president said that the health insurance exchanges where people would buy federally subsidized insurance would not begin operating until four years from now. If Obama follows through on his agenda as planned, immigration reform will be enacted in the intervening time.

All he has to do is ram amnesty through Congress the way he rammed through the Porkulus outrage and Tax & Charade, and presto: no illegal aliens can collect ObamaCare, because no aliens are illegal. With the massive infusion of unrestrained immigration from the Third World that will follow, he might not need ACORN's help to keep Democrats in power after all.

On a tip from Byron.

Interesting and ironic post. It's true--while he might not technically be allowing the "illegal aliens" health care coverage with the bill, the reality of such aliens might not even exist in a few months time. Whether they're termed illegal or not, we'll still be paying for them.
I watched a short video on the Obama health care speech receiving mixed reactions. It's worth watching/commenting on if you have a few minutes:

In HR 3200 there was one bold statement that HC were not eligible but further down was a 'don't ask, don't tell' provision that you cannot discriminate on a number of things including national origin. Kind of an ACORN pimping business type of construct. Turn on the light of legitimacy but do the real business in the dark.

If the President said that this bill specifically denies illegals access to this program, that was true. Technically, but.... they can't ask about their residency status. So illegals can and will get coverage by 'any means necessary' with leftist logic.

The source is incorrect that "It is true that both the House and Senate health care bills as they are now drafted would make illegal aliens ineligible for federally funded health care."
The source cites:
Section 246 of the health care reform bill that has been approved by three House committees is titled, “No Federal Payment for Undocumented Aliens.” It says, “Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”

That speaks only to "payments for affordability credits" for illegals, but doesn't answer the question. Even ABC admits as much http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/09/from-the-fact-check-desk-illegal-immigrants-and-health-care-reform.html:

"But be that as it may, we decided to take a look at the August 26 Congressional Research Service report "Treatment of Noncitizens in H.R. 3200," the House bill. (You can read a copy HERE.)

The non-partisan analysts conclude that:

* some illegal immigrants -- those who "meet the substantial presence test" -- would be taxed if they don't obtain health insurance that meets the requirements of the law;

* there are no immigration-related restrictions on who can participate President Obama’s proposed health insurance exchanges;

* to qualify for any subsidies for health insurance, "individuals must be lawfully present in a state in the United States." That does not preclude those in this country legally who have illegal immigrants in their family from qualifying for the subsidies.

* how will the government make sure that subsidies don't go to illegal immigrants? The mechanism is left entirely up to the Health Commissioner, who is instructed by law that he or must have some process to establish immigration status before giving subsidies. Sec. 241(b)(1), pg 130 : “the Commissioner shall establish a process whereby, on the basis of information otherwise available, individuals may be deemed to be affordable credit eligible individuals." That “shall” is key.

HR 3200 is rife with loopholes for providing coverage for illegals, Wilson was spot on:

GREAT (not!) So if it all passes, not only are we stuck paying for these currently illegal folks, all their anchor babies, & family... but only they will not have to pay that huge tax penalty.

Does that mean we all should have been born in ol' TJ (South of the Border)?

Oh, sorry "my bad" I forgot about the free eduction, welfare, SSI for gramma (abuelos), and low income "earned income tax returns" - and it's NOT just Mexican illegals, that'll also include Somalians, Hondorans, Guatemalans, Nicaraguans, Haitians, Irish, Hamas, Soviets, etc., etc., etc. NOBODY LEFT out of the paid-by-the-taxpayer freebies, except us US Citizens, right??
