I'll agree with him about the dismantling of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, but not about 9/11 being caused expressly to accomplish this. They call us irrational, but how rational is it to believe that the government pulled off a conspiracy and an event of this magnitude, involving dozens if not hundreds of people, in multiple cities and countries, without ANYTHING about it leaking out in advance? They can't keep the names of Congressmen's mistresses secret, for Christ's sake. And besides, the erosion of our rights began over a hundred years ago, and began in earnest with FDR (how do you like that? another leftist) almost 80 years ago. But again, leftists don't care about loss of liberty, as long as it is their guy in charge.

To our anonymous friend, I'll say only this. Nationalized banks. Nationalized car companies. A huge push to nationalize health care. Most of us have been shouting about socialism (or maybe fascism), not Communism as such, and we do have something to shout about. If our liberties were being eroded before, the current regime seems intent on skipping the eroding and going straight to confiscation. To be fair, this started during the last regime as well; I didn't care for the panic passage of the Patriot Act, or the investment bank bailout, or many other things Bush 43 did. But just because Bush et al did such things doesn't make it OK for Obama to continue and, in many cases, to ramp up the process to heights FDR never dreamed of.

As for the birth certificate, I'll say only this: if there is nothing to hide, then why is he hiding? It should be a simple enough thing to produce one's birth certificate, and all he needs to do is do so and this issue goes away. Perhaps he needs the distraction this provides to divert attention away from his authoritarian power-grab?

As for the death panels, rationing is part and parcel of socialized "universal" health care. When you have limited resources and unlimited demand, you must ration. No way around it. Obama talks of following "best practices" and what treatments "make sense" and "bending the cost curve down", but he never mentions that "makes sense" means for the government, not the individuals needing treatment. England does exactly this; it's "death panels" are called, in true Orwellian fashion, NICE. You can't contain costs in the face of unlimited appetite for the service provided without rationing. It's impossible. Think about it for more than a few seconds and you'll see that.
