Breaking News: John Stossel Leaves ABC for Fox

Following up on their magnificently successful poaching of Glenn Beck from CNN, FoxNews has snatched libertarian-leaning reporter John Stossel from ABC.

John Stossel, the longtime ABC News correspondent and co-anchor of "20/20," is leaving ABC to join Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. TVNewser has learned Stossel will host a weekly, one-hour program for the 2-year-old business channel. He's expected to signed a multi-year deal with Fox which will include regular appearances on Fox News Channel during daytime and primetime. He'll also host four, hour-long specials on Fox News, much like the business/consumer specials he'd hosted for years on ABC.

Good for Fox. And you moonbats should be happy, too, because the removal of their most prominent non-leftist increases the ideological purity of ABC News.

Very good move there, Mr. Stossel...

Good move Mr. Stossel - dont agree with 100% of what you say but you are are good at what you do.

What a brain-drain for ABC (Anti-American Broadcasting Communists).

Well now, this is getting fun.

Doesn't any network want Jerry Rivers? When I see that guy I turn on MTV, BET or Moyers. FOX, get rid of Rivers!
Welcome to Stossel! He seems honest to me, right now anyway.

I think this is horrible, having people like Stossel on ABC may be the ONLY opportunity some people will ever allow themselves to hear a challenge to the standard liberal orthodoxy

This is great news. It could only be better if Stossel were replacing Whorealdo.

I havnt watched 20/20 IN YEARS ITS TOO DARN LIBERAL TOO LEFT-WING

Posted by: Spurwing Plover at September 10, 2009 1:12 PM

gonna have to agree with contrarian libertarian on this one. I like Stoessel; he's a welcome addition to the Fox lineup. But as the migration path continues of libertarians, conversatives and centrists going over to Fox, who will be left behind at the networks and other cable channels to ensure the leftist herd gets at least a taste of other points of view once in a while? What we really don't need is 75 or 100 million people who are blissfully unaware that there is even another way to look at the world, even if they disagree with it. But anyway, I will enjoy watching him on Fox.

Mega, the only bright spot is that the old line networks haven't got that many viewers any more. Charlie Gibson has been booted as anchor, Couric's numbers are totally in the crapper and we all know who watches Brian whats-his-name on GE-run NBC.

Stosell's move to Fox is good, and the numbers Fox is pulling shows people really want to hear the truth. Saying "another side" wouldn't be correct, they know the MSM networks are dishing out BS.

Interesting to see how this shakes out.

Remember, the advertisers get to vote with their wallets, too.

As Fox viewership increases, which it currently seems inclined to do, advertisers won't be able to avoid noticing that their "captive eyeballs" numbers have gone down the street, and adjust their expenditures accordingly.

And this, in turn, will have its own consequences.

Is it possible to get 100% of the ratings? FOX is on its way.

Me likey!

Same here Spurwing, I haven't watched 20/20 in at least 15 years. Having Stossel on Fox now just ensures I never have to go anywhere else for TV news.

I think it's a good move for Stossel too, as Anon already said. He's leaving the sinking ship of ABC for the Top of the Heap FNC.

It's so much fun when Leftists (in this case ABCCBSNBSCNNPMSNBC) get pwned.

Stossel's the only person I liked on ABC.

Hugh Downs was tolerable at times.

Smart move by both FOX and Stossel indeed. I'll be sending my resume and demo package to FOX real soon now.
As for the argument that "...Stossel on ABC may be the ONLY opportunity some people will ever allow themselves to hear a challenge to the standard liberal orthodoxy...", I would think that a good portion of HIS viewership (not all ABC viewers, but people who watch FOR Stossel) will follow him. Many people did the same for Beck when he left HLN, and his numbers exploded when the FOX audience got a taste of his program. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out in the long run, but I think FOX, Stossel, and a lot more people will benefit.
