ACORN Angst among House Dems - Where Do They REALLY Stand?
In the wake of the warp-speed passage of a US Senate bill barring ACORN from receiving Federal funding, Maryland Rep. and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has spoken out (a little) against those scurrulous ACORN employees caught on tape encouraging felonious activity in the prostitution/tax fraud videos.
House Democrats appear to be jumping on the "Down with ACORN" bandwagon... or are they really? Is Steny simply paying some CYA lip service to still the angry mob? In fact, what does your own representative think about ACORN?
Click on over to www.house.gov and ask your congressman. Here's a sample note: (UPDATE: edited based on a great idea from the comment thread )
Dear Rep. Xxxxx:
I trust that you've seen the ACORN prostitution and tax evasion videos by now. Do you agree with Majority Leader Steny Hoyer that the behavior of those ACORN employees was "despicable" (WSJ.com, 9/15/2009)? What about the organization itself? Three times is a pattern, but four times is simply criminal.
Are you as disgusted as I am at ACORN and the fact that the United States Government could possibly be giving this corrupt organization billions of our tax dollars?
Once the anti-ACORN funding bill moves from the Senate to the House, please vote to stop government subsidizing of this despicable organization.
In fact, will you also please call for a Federal RICO investigation of ACORN? Nothing short of criminal prosecution will put a stop to this corrupt organization's apparent racketeering.
Sincerely,
Speak up, mobsters, we know we're good at it now.

That sample note is not enough. We must all ask our Congressmen to keep the pressure on Holder to initiate a Federal RICO investigation of this corrupt organization. Nothing short of criminal prosecution will put a stop to the apparent racketeering.
Without pressure from Congress, will Holder let these criminals off the hook, just as he did with the Black Panthers who intimidated voters right outside the polls on election day? We can't risk that. Congress must turn up the heat.

ACM, I'm way ahead of you. I already emailed Boxer (I know, but better to light a candle and all that) urging her to propose a RICO investigation of ACORN.

ACORN: "We're Just Community Organizers, Just Like the President Used to Be"
That's a quote, not a paraphrase.
That rustling you just heard was Obama hiding behind the curtains.

You guyz and galz are way ahead of me. Cry out for cutting off the purse strings and federal investigations. (Which do you feel will be the more likely to occur, tho? I kinda chuckle inside when I think of Holder doing anything remotely related to proper law enforcement...)

pomalom, good haiku. Jay Guevara, is Boxer yours? You poor thing. Schumer and the despicable Gillibrand are mine. My correspondence gets sent today, snail mail, pen to paper.

Karin, yep, Boxer's one of mine. In 2010 we're hoping to move up by replacing Boxer with a chimpanzee.

TED, maybe that "shovel ready" is an ACORN sub-business that Tresa Kaelke started with her husband's life insurance payout.
